Nooooo, stop spreading this right here mate. The Reverb does NOT need as much AA or upping in pixel density as the Rift S does. So no, the Rift S does NOT run better than the Reverb, it's about equal.

Very interesting to me these rumors. We have yet to encounter someone who is using AMD cards and VR in DCS, anyway people are already spreading the rumors that NVidia > AMD somehow when it comes to DCS VR. How many have tried and reported? 1? 0? Just look at 4k benchmarks where there 5700XT gets compared to 2070 / 2070 Super / 2080 or 1080 Ti and then you can extrapolate. If you know what to do with overclocking 5700XT you can get to 2080 founders edition performance, AMD cards are way less restrictive how much power you can pull for the card than NVidia.
-
Does changing this work and if yes, is it usable in Multiplayer mode?
-
The 5700XT is on the same level as a 2070 Super/normal 2080. Take the Sapphire Nitro+, it's the best along with the Powercolor Red Devil . MSI Gaming X is fine aswell if you absolutely need to push down the price.
-
Yes, this is the option for display quality in the cockpits.
-
If you wrote this because of the performance aspect ... then no, Reverb and Rift S need roughly the same strength in terms of a system. Reverb needs way less picture clearing/sharpening options turned on.
-
5700 XT Sapphire Nitro+, Red Devil or MSI Gaming X is roughly on the same level as a 1080 Ti for ~450 by the way.
-
The newer (third) one isn't better than the previous ones. Are you planning on using these for DCS? If yes then there's not a clear winner honestly. What one is lacking is built into the other one and vice versa. If you're able to put more memory into the Intel machine so you have 16GB instead of 8GB it should suffice for DCS, but not for VR though. I'd really only expect a decent 1080p performance out of them.
-
When talking about VR the general: "For DCS you only need high single core clock" isn't as valid as without VR. You still need a beefy processor sure, but if using VR the GPU gains a lot more importance than previously. Depends on how much money is an issue for you. Get the 2080 Ti if you can. You could also get the 2080 Super as a transition card, wait for the next generations to release (AMD) aswell, and both will be more in competition than the years before. Very likely this drives prices of 2xxx and 3xxx series or AMD ones down.

HP Reverb with a 2070 Super or 5700XT (Sapphire Nitro+) should suffice aswell. HP Reverb and Rift S perform roughly the same. I'm getting a 5700XT with Reverb myself.
-
Meh roughly the same honestly. One has only 8GB RAM but slightly better DGPU and the other has more RAM but slightly worse GPU, but slightly better CPU.

Thoughts on graphics card upgrade - RTX2070

The 5700 XT Sapphire Nitro+ (Special Edition has slightly higher clocks) is on the level of 1080Ti for ~470 bucks by the way. Good 5700XT/1080 Ti/2070 Super/2080 are on the same level roughly. The MSI Gaming X 5700XT is only 440. -
If money is no issue then HP Reverb with a 2080 super or even 2080 Ti.

How certain is this? Source?
-
I guess it's made up entirely or exaggerated. There's also the claim NVidia is the way to go in terms of VR, AMD gives problems. Same story. In three weeks I'm getting a 5700XT for my Reverb system and could report how it goes, if you're not in a hurry.

If you are not using a SSD by now, it is very, very likely these stutters are because of your normal disk. These are typical. Go get a SSD.

Best processor on the market for fligh simulators?

Classic GPU bottleneck then. -
Best processor on the market for fligh simulators?

Lower possibility of stutters on certain multiplayer missions. -
You'll make it. I've not flown in DCS since 39 months. ^^
-
Yes, but not to the extend that it would distract you a lot. Not even at all. I literally need to look for them to see them. And it's always different pixel rows, never the same. So it's not a "dead pixel" issue.

Dito. Monstertech for HOTAS.

Are you guessing or do you have a source? I want this to be true, wanting to get one of these AMD cards for my Reverb setup, was planning to get the 5700XT Nitro+ temporarily and then later upgrade. I'm actually aiming for the top tier AMD cards. So I could get these straight away. You still read "a lot of negative things" about these second batch Reverbs because people don't use separately powered PCIe cards or powered USB hubs. 80% of these issues are not related to the headsets themselves but due to the fact they are not getting enough power into them. You need a powered usb hub or separately powered PCIe USB card. Depends on how tight your budget is. If it isn't go for the newer stuff.

174790K upgrade or not?
Gnadentod replied to 0414 Wee Neal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have not seen one post claiming the 3800X/3900X are faster than the 9900K at 5 GHz, but only equal. Which is true since the new BIOS updates for the Ryzen platform came out. Never were the AMD "Hertz" 1:1 comparable to the Intel "Hertz" when it came to performance output and they still aren't, although they should give an exact indicator of the processors speed in comparison, since both use the Hertz unit for measurement. The new Ryzen CPUs at 4.6 GHz have the same single core performance as the 9900K does at 5.0 GHz. Which one is faster solely depends on the titles you're testing. And testing one application, in this case XP11, doesn't qualify someone to claim: "The 9900K is faster than the new high end Ryzen chips all the time and in every case". This would just be a lie. -
Upgrading cpu/mb: 3900x or 9900k?
Gnadentod replied to Rossterman's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
3800X. I am doing the same as you and build a new simulator system in one month. Will be a X570 system with 3800X. 3900X and 3800X have about the same single core performance as the 9900K at 5 Ghz. -
? Interesting.
