Absolutely. The RAAF flew P-40's extensively against the Japanese throughout New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

A humble opinion how should DSC WWII scene develop in future years
_Spad_ replied to tapi's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
This is a great idea. 4 aircraft and a map that will now cover most of the western front. Balancing the plane set is probably the biggest thing for me. Hopefully ED takes note. -
This map would also suit the P-40... If we ever get one...
-
Updated external textures would be nice as well. Not sure what ED's plans are with the Mustang in this regard.

Hi, I usually fly without Rudder pedals and rely on autorudder to coordinate my turns. This works fine on the other warbirds and allows me to just use the twist grip on my X-55 for fine adjustments while lining up a target. Last night while flying the P-47 I noticed that when I feed in some Rudder manually to line up a ground target, the autorudder function fights the input and forces the aircraft to remain coordinated, causing me to miss the target.

Well, first make sure that your bindings are working. Then, ensure the gun is set to gun/camera. I think it's a switch located on the left side panel.
-
I just had this happen. During the second bfm set, he just dove straight into the water?? Now I can't continue.
-
Appears to have been fixed with the latest update.
-
I just tried it tonight and seems you are correct. I had auto rudder on and I was definitely in a slip throughout my turns.
-
This is my technique also. Seems to work ok.

Hi, On mission 9, where you fly CAS for a SEAL team, one of the first tasks is to destroy a ZSU parked on the road. I rolled in to fire my Maverick and I got an abort call - something about being on the wrong heading and approved for reattack. Problem is, I don't know what heading I was meant to be on?? Therefore my mission was stuck and I couldn't ask the JTAC to re-read the heading so I could re-attack. I ended up having to quit the mission. Could text be added to the pop up message to show what heading to fly for re-attack? This would be useful for people like me who are foolish and don't write down headings

Should be able to just unbox WPDSG.

Easiest way to get air to air radar back to 'default'?
_Spad_ replied to imacken's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I also thought pressing the undesignate button twice returned you to RWS mode if you were in ACM mode. This, however, hasn't worked for me since the last update. -
Twice in a row I have attempted M2, with my wingman stuck on the tanker both times preventing me from progressing the mission. I know the tanker is set to a left hand orbit but when on its way back south from WP3 it is in a gentle left hand turn. It then rolls wings level before making almost a shallow correcting turn back to the right, then rolling wings level before another shallow left turn, then right turn, etc. until it makes its way south and then starts to orbit WP2.
-
I also just had this issue. That's DCS AI for you, I guess  Also, the tanker seems to make constant left and right turns during refuelling (although at a shallow bank angle) - is this a campaign issue or another DCS AI thing?

This is very much appreciated!

Exactly this. Learn to fly it, then learn to fight with it.

Strange AI Behaviour
_Spad_ replied to _Spad_'s topic in P-51D: The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney Campaign
Now that you mention it, they did call bingo fuel just before the engagement. I'd say this was the issue. Yes I was on channel A, my radio must've been hit during the fight. -
I encountered some strange AI behaviour in mission 3 but I don't know whether it is campaign related or just typical DCS AI. Basically, while flying in formation back to England, I was jumped by a 109. The first thing I saw was shells flying past my canopy. I went defensive and asked my wingmen to cover me but the radio options were greyed out (maybe this was the issue?). My wingmen then continued to fly formation off me while I was making defensive maneuvers and getting shot at. No matter what I did I couldn't get my wingmen to engage the 109 - even when the 109 flew right in front of them. They just wouldn't engage. p.s I'm loving these campaigns, Reflected. Thank you for helping bring DCS WW2 to life!

Changing default skin in Instant Action, etc

You can change your skin in the Rearm/Refuel section of the ground crew radio menu. -

Campaign Defeat After First Mission
_Spad_ replied to _Spad_'s topic in P-51D: The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney Campaign
Played the second mission - again failed. I took off as instructed, flew with the other flight across the channel, engaged the enemy and flew back to England. I landed back at the airfield and shutdown, then exited the plane. Could the campaign have recognised me exiting the plane as a death even though I had landed and shutdown? Also, I have now been reverted back to replay mission 1 instead of mission 2??? Edit: After checking the Tacview, it recognised me as destroyed as soon as I exited the plane after landing & shutting down. My bad  -
Campaign Defeat After First Mission
_Spad_ replied to _Spad_'s topic in P-51D: The Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney Campaign
Hmm, that worked - I passed the mission. I guess previously it considered me lost somehow?? Edit: When I say I landed before the Commander in the previous post, it was only 60 seconds or so earlier. -
Campaign Defeat After First Mission

Just played it a second time - same thing. Only thing I can think of is when the Commander says he'll see you back at base he zooms up through the cloud ceiling, whereas I stay low under the clouds. I landed back at the airfield before the commander, would that make a difference?
