  1. I always thought of Riddick as more of a CH products kind of guy, simple but functional j/k :) But alas he is a Saitek pilot
  2. Nice find! I didn't notice that my first time around :)
  3. I doubt it BUT I bet someone will make a mission where you have to scare off or pick/arrest trespassers into Area 51 restricted space in patrol Huey :)
  4. With the buttkicker it all depends how high the incoming sound is. To give an example, when I had a buttkicker game v2 turned all the way up and fired the GAU-8 cannon the A-10C, my chair office chair moved about 3cm backwards (with 80kg of me sitting on the chair). My only issue with the buttkicker is that it was too loud for apartment use.
  5. HIDmacros is a no go. BUT His new creation LuaMacros should work: http://www.hidmacros.eu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=241#p794 Time to pull out an old keyboard and re-label every single button :) (for my throttle hand).
  6. There is difference between work in progress and not playable. What you are saying is that you want to drive a car with one of the wheels missing. They aren't delaying because they want to hurt your feelings:doh: In fact I'd say they are delaying in order for you to not have a true reason for disappointment. Apart from the new beautiful graphics, new map, and mutiple players in the same aircraft - what is there that you can't do in current DCS World that you will get in DCS 2.0? Not much. If it's the graphics that bother you the most then going to a different simulator with worse graphics isn't going be much help...
  7. The problem is, that they are dealing with show stopping bugs. Nobody is going to play a sim that constantly crashes and has missing standard features. Did you guys even read the newsletter? Nothing Matt mentioned was feature creep. It's all groundwork for the Nevada map and upcoming maps. Without any of those features you are getting basically what current DCS has to offer (and even less). So my advice is to just keep enjoying the current version, nobody is taking that away from you, and it's still easily the best simulator out there even as is.
  8. Finding an enemy BMP2 is going to be like playing Where's Wally/Waldo in that! I can't wait :)
  9. Sounds like DCS will want to utilise DX12 in order to make the most of the rift (3:00 mins in) RXed1RaJvmQ Hopefully for DCS 2.1 in Jan :)

Hololens would be cool for watching DCS replays :) or even for an ATC. I thought Doom (4) was pretty cool. It looks like it plays a lot like the Doom 1 & 2 games, but with updated gfx, and they even took a few hints from the famous Brutal Doom mod. Although I'm not crazy about the canned animations, I think they will get repetitive. I loved music - it's like you've overdosed on combat stimulants and you are an emotionless demon killing machine :) I also had a tough time telling the enemies apart, they were all very similar looking, with the exception of the bigger enemies.
  11. 10cm here and its awesome - provided you are able to mount the warthog between your legs. There is no point if you are using it on the side, or on top of a table, it will be too high. The other option of course is to get really long curved one and floor mount the warthog. I have an extension from http://warthog-extensions-by-sahaj.com/ and the reason I like it better than the simpit version is because it's simple - it's a metal tube and a cable. And you can set the offset angle to anything you want anytime. (there is nothing wrong with the simpit either though) EDIT: the most realistic height will be what is comfortable for you. Not too high and not too low. You want your hand to be relaxed and comfortable when it's sitting on the stick. So extension length you buy will depend on how high or low your stick is mounted. Grab the warthog grip by itself and place your hand in your lap so that you are comfortable and measure downwards :)
  12. Holy Mackerel! Edit: Q: is it possible to remove the springs entirely so that the hydraulic hold the stick where it was left? (helicopter style)
  13. Hi Rich, Sorry I don't use Facebook, so hopefully you will notice this here. I have a few questions about the Ka-50 controls you are making: 1. On the cyclic, is the brake lever an analog axis? (to apply the right amount of braking force). 2. Does the flippable cannon trigger have a button/switch, so that when you flip it onto the "ready to fire" position, it enables the cannon in the game? 3. Is the Shkval slew an analog axis mini-joystick? Thanks!
  14. I think he means that as you fly faster the aircraft will want to pitch up because of the extra lift. So with a hydraulic non centering stick, you don't need to trim as it stays where you left it.
  15. I'm in the same position. I don't mind forking out for a really good set of controls, but they will be the last controls I buy, because they will have enough buttons, hats, toggle switches and a couple of rotary knobs so that I can use them for absolutely everything and anything :) My dream universal hybrid controls would be the following: Cyclic / Joystick: 2x triggers Ka-50 style (or option for dual stage trigger) 3x push buttons (pickle, trim button, and master mode) 3x hats (fixed wing trimmer, plus two other hats for MFD control and target management) 1x pinky leaver (brakes or misc) 1x pinky button (reset trackIR) Hydraulic controls with optional centering springs. Collective: 1x hat (counter measures or weapon selection) 1x analog] hat (for really smooth and accurate target designator cue or slewing optics / FLIR around) 3x toggle switches (airbrake, narrow/wide view, autopilot modes or a-10 chinahat or boatswitch) 2x rotary (knobs or even twist grip would suffice for things like view zoom or radar slew) 2x buttons (target lock, radio) 1x huey starter style trigger or ka-50 style collective brake Completely unrealistic and I don't see this ever happening but a guy can dream right? :D
  16. I guess that we are getting an updated MiG-29 cockpit, and possibly even a new flight model, and even further possibly a standalone DCS: Flaming Cliffs : MiG-29 module similar to the A-10A, Su-25A, Su-27S and F-15C modules. Which, if any of those turns out true will be great!
  17. I watch a lot of sci-fi and I play a lot of DCS - and because of my familiarity of simming hardware, when a movie uses a joystick that I have seen many, many times, it tends to stick out like a sore thumb to me :) The latest one is from this trailer from Matt Damons new movie "The Martian" CumZP6_9sHU It's very obviously a TM Warthog as they still have the yellow arrow sticker on the handle (which has long been worn from mine!). It can be seen when they are in the cockpit both times. I can think of a few more movies where I have spotted either a TM Warthog or an X52. But I would like to see if others want to play a game of "spot the joystick" and see if we can get a list going of all movies / scenes where we recognise a common of the shelf gaming / simming hardware - and extra points if you find one which has been modded and disguised. Also please post either a screenshot or a clip of the movie so we can all see :) Edit: that would be right, I spelt "off" with one "f" in the title :S
  18. Mine was probably some really basic atari 2600 game, but the first simulator I took seriously was Su-27 Flanker :)
  19. Thanks for the review! Man if they can put some kind of removable springs in these, then I will have to get a set. Then these would be perfect for both helo's and planes. I like to fly the Russian planes which have a brake lever on the joystick so toe brakes aren't necessary for me. But some kind of centering mechanism is a must for when I'm not flying helo's. (Removable so I can have the best of both worlds :P). I don't like the MFG crosswinds because of how you have to put your whole foot on them - this may have been necessary in order to use the strength of your whole leg inside a WW2 fighter, but for everything else it makes little sense and seems like you would lose a lot of finesse (and finesse and precision is what you need for helicopters). And of course, the centering mechanism on the MFG's makes them less suitable for helicopters too.
  20. Just goes to show how talented these guys are, I'd they can do this after their normal jobs!
  21. I'd suggest starting with any module that is covered in my guides :) http://steamcommunity.com/id/tomlobster/myworkshopfiles/?section=guides
  22. Yes because many DCS players are on steam. It's important that both versions remain compatible and equal so that we can all play together on the same servers etc.
  23. I would love this!
