I think a dynamic campaign would increase the enjoyablility of DCS into infinity, however, 4th gen multirole fighters is a close second choice! I'd be happy with either.

Does 30mm motorkanone work against tanks?
Sryan replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Yes sobek, different rounds for different roles. I'm sure the minengeschoss wouldn't survive the same shot as the PGB13. The PGB13 is launched at twice the muzzle velocity. I wasn't stating that the Mk103 is superior to the GAU/A-8 in any way, merely comparing the amount of explosives inside each of them. The reasoning was to provide an idea of how much exactly is in a Mk103 shot. The point I was trying to make is that the Mk103 is unsuitable for destroying tanks, because of the low velocity as others mentioned and because of the thin walls that would most likely shatter as my own argument. -

Most of the shells loaded on the 108 are of the Minengeshoß design as well. Instead of drilling out a cavity to fit explosives on a shell like other nations did, germany drew her shells and then hardened them. this allowed them to cram as many explosives as they could in each shell. for the the Mk108 I believe each shell can hold about 85 grams of explosives, wich is more than a PGU13B shot by the A10 holds. 85g is more than what the standard US greneade of the time, the Mk2 "pineapple" holds, and it is almost half of what a modern M67 grenade holds. So when you see people around here calling it pretty much a grenade launcher, they are kinda right. Having thin walls and large explosive contents is great for air to air fighting, a handful of hits will take down a B17 or B24. but using the thin walls on an armored vehicle will likely only result in shell shatter. The shells of the 103 and 108 are incompatible with each other. the 108 shoots a short 30 × 90mm. The 103 shoots a long 30×184mm round. The last one, the 103, has acces to an armor piercing APCR shell. -
yes, it works with a variety of aircraft like A10C and MiG21 ( it cannot only lase targets, it can also throw/shoot smoke grenades, hence it works with "dumb" MiG21 )I don't know if any or all other modules support JTAC. I don't know if M2kC will support ai JTAC during initial release in december, but I am sure at one point it will.

Two CH Pro Throttles Setup for twin engines aircraft
Sryan replied to Lion13's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
hmmmmm 2 throttles can definitely be useful. Like bobert said when an engine is damaged and you want to attempt a restart ( you must set the engine to OFF though, just going idle on the throttle is not enough ) but most importantly for me to have precision yaw controls when holding a tight formation with something like a tanker. You see the yaw caused by the rudder is very quick to introduce roll as well, it's actually possible to do aileron rolls with just the rudder and 0 aileron deflection. By having a small difference in between each throttle it's easy to get a high precision 0,5deg/sec or so yaw action with no rolling introduced. You can yaw faster than that with the throttles but that will also introduce roll. However I find that roll comfortable to nullify with the stick. You see I have no pedals, just a twisty stick, and to stop induced rolling I'd have to, par example, twist the stick to the left while moving it to the right, when you need to apply corrections it's easy to get confused into what exact motion you need to make. by having dual throttles it becomes easier on the brain. apply and correct yaw with the left hand ( throttles ) and correct rolling with the right hand ( stick ). -
when in steam, right click the game, properties, then beta's, and then join the 1.5 beta. in 1.5 they added a new system that overlays a large sprite over units at large distances, so it's much easier to spot them, it's not easy to find things in the shrubs but atleast you can see a road column a good distance away. happy landings!

no problems here. Are you perhaps using some of the FPS killers like depth of field, lens effects, things like that?

Hey Gizo, glad to see you're enjoying the sim as much as we do I wonder if you mean visual representations of actual services, like electrical power provided or refueling taking place, or just maintenance personel running around to liven up the place? Either way, it's been discussed many times here on the forums. Maybe in certain other games and sims, the world may feel alive by having the airbase manned and animals and civilians populating the world. But the typical counterargument is that while the world may seem alive, the flying feels sterile compared to that in DCS, and seagulls along the coast don't alleviate that feeling of flying. When we have to think about what we'd like to see ED spent their devtime on, we need to think about wether we rather use our imagination to think about the 200 men crew that sustains our aircraft and mission, or imagine a good feeling for the flight. While we already have a lot of things to work with in DCS, ED has a lot of work on their hands. The MiG29 and SU33 flight models are getting touched up, the missile flight models are getting touched up. work continues on multiple players per aircraft technology, they are still working on the nevada and normandy map and are also designing new planes like the F/A-18 and other, unanounced models. I'd personally love to see the airfield livened up, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon. have a nice day, greetings from the Netherlands.

I'd personally liked to see an adriatic sea map. A lot of the units we have available as modules served in the wars that occured there in the 90's. things like the Mi-8 and the MiG21BiS and MiG29 where serving the yugoslavian forces. Amongst NATO forces the F15 and A10, and upcoming F/A18 and F14. I think the terrain suits itself for fictious conflicts as well. Taking off from Italy and perfoming a first flight of a campaign, a FAM flight, a relocation or even an amphibious attack across the adriatic sea would seem enjoyable to me. For players not opposing somewhat more lengthy ops, you could take off from Italy, perform an aerial refuel above the adriatic sea, do your missions in the balkans, head back for a refuel and continue on home. At the widest point, it's about 200km across the sea, at it's narrowest, at the straight of otranto, it's about 70km across. so all aircraft should be able to handle the crossover, in a reasonable amount of time.

yeah word is the viper is in development. However some of the tech that should go on it first needs to be made, for the hornet. So not soon most likely :( http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1996107&postcount=52 there's also this, a list of statements from ED on what models need to be worked on, and what they are doing inhouse and what they licensed to 3rd parties, however, this might as well just be an AI model. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=104115 anyway I'm not trying to derail this thread into another "I want an F16" so I'll stop here :D

Thought I'd say loud and clear that, you will never run out of activations. If you used your last one, you will automaticly get a new one after 30 days. If something really funky happened you can always try to shoot an email to support. you will not EVER be locked out permanently out of the product you bought. Your reasoning that the F/A-18 would make the A10 obselete because it can take off from a carrier and can act as a fighter is quite weird to me. Don't forget we're not playing one of those commercial matchmaker multiplayer battle 'simulation' flying games, where the top of the line plane is worth having and the rest is not. Besides, each plane has its own pro's and cons. According to this logic, I could say that the A10 is more likely to survive a anti-air artillery barrage hit, or a SAM strike than an F/A-18, therefor the A10 is more suited to dangerous missions and infinitly better than an F/A-18. Have a nice day.

yes you can. you can buy it on the steamshop and without even downloading it there enter the serial key on the website here.

afaik SU25 has no B*tching betty :) This is the fuel indicator. The yellow lights mean the respective tanks are empty. and the red light should be your bingo call. iirc it lights up with somewhere between 500-800kg of fuel left.

RPM stands for revolutions per minute. in Real life the weapon spins very fast in order to disperse the bomblets. Cluster bombs are taxing enough on your system as they are so they just look like they are falling straight. The spreading of bomblets is still simulated by setting the RPM though. I cannot look at your track right now but since you say it is a column, you mag go for a lower RPM to make the bomblets spread less.

Black Shark 2: Republic Campaign
Sryan replied to kontiuka's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
assuming you're on windows. hit the start key, then type in "update dcs world openbeta" see if that fixes anything -
Well, I for one am excited about the eurofighter typhoon though :P don't forget we're getting an earlier Tranche 1 block 5 craft. not something like a tranche 2 block 20 and definitly not a tranche 3A typhoon. VEAO is working with the RAF on it so we can get one as close to the real deal as possible. Sure, some things are classified and won't be modelled in the sim, but the same applies to the A10-C and we still enjoy that plane a lot. to get on the actual topic of trainers. I kinda like them but I also agree they're missing the point, too. It would be great if they had a PFM, and good tutorials and/or a training campaign that would familiarize a player with modern combat aviation. Instead we're left with a tutorial or two on how to start the thing up and then left to well.. just screw around in it I guess :P Anyway I also think it was a way for avio and veao to break the ice into developing for DCS and see it used as a base for the good stuff that is coming. RAZBAM may be opening up on us with their Mirage 2000C but they've spent quite a lot of their time working on the Buckeye trainer too, by the looks of it.

Black Shark 2: Republic Campaign
Sryan replied to kontiuka's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
if u can play the Ka-50 on DCS: world, you got the black shark 2. Black shark 1 was the standalone Ka-50 simulator from many years ago. -
good choice making the jump :) The tutorials under "training" are what you are supposed to use to learn how to fly the hog. There's no real way around dating the manual, but just reading the "flight school" and "combat employment" part should be enough to get you started on having a bit of fun in it, and it's less then 100 pages. there's also a payware training campaign out there, dunno if it's any good! hope you will enjoy the hog as much as we do :)

Native voices or English voices for campaigns ?
Sryan replied to S-GERAT's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I can understand the reasoning of the OP, but for me it works exactly the other way around. To immerse myself in a russian pilot, I must understand what I am doing and what I am hearing, for I believe russian pilots, like most pilots, know what they are doing. I love the eastern block hulls we can fly in this game but I cannot play them without their english cockpit mods for I do not know the difference between приборная скорость and высота над уровнем моря. considering the votes are as they are now my guess it would just be best to give the players the option for either english narration or the original language. -
next to what jweisner said, it has it's own place for reporting bugs. http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=451

Let's get you some actual answers. if you have a trackIR, you're set for DMS and TMS, as you can use the POV and the H2 for those. Trim is working as intended. This thing doesnt have a CMS button. The thumb button is just another button, nothing like how the CMS functions on the hog. I use it as the weapon release key as the normal weapon release key, the red button on top of the stick is to high for all but the biggest of hands to reach. I've got the CMS functions on the back of the throttle though. there's 4 rotary's on the throttle that you can assign some functions to like the zoom axis or differential breaks. You can assign some 42 functions to all the toggles on the toggles on the throttles. There's only a few gripes I have. The trigger is single staged. So you won't be able to go PAC-1 before you start shooting unless u hold down another key. And then ofcourse the release key being to high, I saw they fixed that on the X65. A lot of people complain about the build quality but it seems decent to me. Sure, it's plastic but most of the thing is rigid. The only gripe about it are the 3 on the stick; the pov, the trim and the DMS ones are a bit to loose for my taste. I've had it for 10 months, decent choice, but still way behind the hogstick.
