IIRC Nails would be for if the bandit is in search mode, and spike for if the bandit is in tracking mode. The correct way to call out that Fulcrum would be with 'contact', 'radar contact', or 'tied' if info was given from a sentry or another asset. You can also return with 'judy' to another asset if you don't need any aditional guidance to complete the intercept. 'tally' is for contact visual, eyes on.

No POST, no beeps? Is it possible the CPU power feed is not connected (properly), in case you worked on the rear case fan?

Wags said the sounds are coming directly from Boeing in this Q&A, hosted by Sidestrafe. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=190813

One can stop loading gifs by disabling images under visible post elements in the options menu. But that would effectively block any and all images, not just gifs. Is it within the realm of technical possibility to create another option that would specifically target code with a .gif suffix?

Advice needed for an SSD with DCS
Sryan replied to shonist's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
SSD's these days have a life expectancy of between around 180TB and 9PB worth of writing action, although the guaranteed cycles are usually much lower. Samsung SSD's are usually in the upper segments of these numbers. Tracks are usually very small, about 15kB or so. That means you can do about in between 10^10 (ten billion) and 6×10^11 (six hundred billion) flights before wearing out your SSD with generated tracks. You're going to have to reinstall DCS every day to have a life expectancy measured in years. I think that tracks are stored in RAM unless you decide to save them through the user interface, so they won't wear down your SSD at all if you don't do so. -
As far as I am aware: - there are currently no plans to make CA interface with any surface vessel. - ED has stated they're considering adding new ships after the hornet has been released. Some 3rd party developers are developing ships to support their own content (Heatblur is making a Forrestal, RAZBAM is making an LHA and some supportive vessels). - ED is making DLC based on the admiral Kuznetsov and the Nimitz, it should contain features like animated deck crew and working elevators and the like. We don't yet know to what extend we're able to take control of the ship

You can find the official (Matt Wagner/ED) manual in your install, under mods\aircraft\A-10C\Docs You can also download it from the website: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/documentation/dcs_a-10c_flight_manual_en/ I have a feeling you might have ment Chuck's manual instead of the official manual :) if that is the case, you can find it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-uSpZROuEd3NHp0SHZoTGpnUDA/view

Tactical bombers like the B-26 Marauder you mentioned, as well as others such as the B-25 Mitchell and A-20 Havoc are coming soon. Not all asset pack units are ready yet.
-
There is a list of all units that will eventually make it in the asset pack posted on ED's facebook page.

yes, 20 missions for the Sukhoi Su-27.
-
Yes you can. http://store.steampowered.com/app/316963/Su27_The_Ultimate_Argument_Campaign/

Under Advanced waypoint actions and then 'perform task', there's a function called "WW2 Big Formation" wich allows you to assign a group to a 'lead group' and position them in the formation. In case you're wondering, you'll also find carpet bombing options under advanced waypoint actions -> 'perform task'

Just noticed there are birds near the ocean on Normandy, very nice :)

What aircraft are you going to be flying in normandy and why ?
Sryan replied to silenteye's topic in DCS: Normandy 1944
Several Mosquito variants are on the VEAO roadmap. I can only imagine YoYo is very busy with the Jug and the Schwalbe. Who knows what comes after that. As for on topic: I haven't decided yet between a warbird or a helicopter :dunno: -
IIRC all those who backed $20 or more should receive Normandy. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=126712
-
That Horten 229 could have 'what if' dogfights against VEAO's Dehavilland Vampire and Gloster Meteor, alongside ED's very own Me-262 on the Normandy map. I can understand not everybody is a fan of 'what if' fictious scenarios. But the prospect of seeing how these early first gen jets would fight with the fidelity DCS offers is entertaining, atleast to me. At any rate, I'm pretty sure it will take some time before these jets see the light of day in DCS. Maybe another dev can pitch in and develop a Lockheed P-80 as well :)

We had the Fulcrum banner last year, and that has received some great 3D model upgrades over the past year for a number of its variants. Who knows what the Su-33 banner may hint at. I believe it has been said the Flanker-D PFM would come before the Fulcrum PFM.

Youtuber Jabbers created a nice video on notching, applicable to all planes, partially based on some of the contents in my guide. Go have a look! Also, big thanks for the kind words and passing my guide around here in the thread, on the ED forums, on Mudspike and on Hoggit! Many thanks.

You can buy Normandy and fly on just that once it has been released.
-
Probably the same reason you can fly a ~2006 modified A-10 on a 1944 map in the first place :) ED would have to go out of their way in order to take GPS from you. If a mission designer would not like an A-10 to take advantage of GPS, they could do something like setting the EGI chance of failure to 100% after 0 minutes in the editor.
-
I think we can use EGI just fine. The Ka-50 gets its ABRIS and that uses GLONASS as well. We're just not getting a map as a background for our TAD.

The speed of sound at sea level is approximatly -depending on conditions- 340 meters per second, or about 1225km/h. Are you telling us the M-2000C cannot break the sound barrier at low altitude? Do you have any sources backing this statement up? I saw the statement for that speed on wikipedia. But wikipedia is not always reliable, and they did not post a source. So I went looking for this source myself, I found this: From: A Compendium of Armaments and Military Hardware by C. Chant That maximum speed is only true if the M-2000C has been equiped with bombs. So if you're getting caught by Mirages carrying bombs, you can complain
