  1. You'll find a 137 page manual for the Su-27 in c:\program files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS\Mods\Aircraft\Su-27\Doc Santi wrote an excellent guide, although it is not oriented towards beginners, and biased towards PvP.
  2. The AV-8B N/A is a long way off from the Sea Harrier and the GR.3 that flew over the Falklands.
  3. The radar only goes into HOJ when there is no other option available. You can unlock the target (backspace) to leave HOJ. When you get closer to the target, you can lock them as normal. AI's sometimes only start jamming when you lock them in STT (Single target track), you can try to lock them in TWS (track while scan) to get a lock-on without them noticing and starting to jam.
  4. There's even a A-10C Red flag campaign.
  5. Normally, the maximum bonus discount is 30%. This weekend, the maximum bonus discount is 60%.
  6. here ya go bud. in between the [YOUTUBE] brackets, only put in the code that comes after "watch?v=". And don't put links there. you can quote me to see how it's done.
  7. Flood always sounds as if a missile has been fired at you, even if you didn't.
  8. Nevada does not work with the executable that is available on steam. ED will first finish Normandy, then update the Caucasus, and create a single executable on wich all maps will work. At that point, you can expect DLC maps making their way to Steam.
  9. Thanks for posting a link to my guide, Jinx! :) On top of what already has been said. 1: Contacts detected by your radar, but outside the current display range will actually be drawn along the top of the display. 3: Once the AMRAAM has been fired from TWS, the jet should automaticly cycle to the next target, just like Redcore explained. If it's absolutely necessary to switch targets. You can use UNLOCK TWS TARGET (no default binding) to unlock specific targets until your most important threat becomes the primary. Note that when you drop tracks like this, AMRAAMs already being guided on targets you're unlocking will no longer receive datalink information. In the lower left corner of the HUD, T denotes both the time to pitbull and impact. The lefthand number is the time to pitbull, the righthand number is the time to impact. M indicates the amount of time it would take for a missile to impact, if it were fired right now.
  10. Explosions are an effect that will be improved in the near future. ED has last mentioned this around the .
  11. C:\program files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS\mods\campaigns\<campaign name> You can also find out the .miz of the next mission here, and edit it into the logbook .lua so you can proceed with the campaign.
  12. In the F-15, the master arm is down if you are in NAV (1) mode. You can still use the radar and even lock things in NAV mode, but not shoot. You need to be in BVR (2) mode or any of the AACQ modes to flip the master arm switch.
  13. No I haven't tried it personally. I was wondering the same thing and asked it for Wags' recent Q&A. Wags was kind enough to answer this question a moment after the 3:00 minute mark of this video.
  14. In air combat, there is hardly a single tactic that works each and every time. Similarily, none of these tactics are very bad, but they might not work in every situation. The whole 10 to 2 o'clock thing is to keep the bandit within the gimbal limits of your radar. As long as the bandit is between your 10 and 2, you can keep him locked and keep guiding weapons onto him. Doing things like a split-s or diving is typically a good idea against weapons that were fired close to or at their maximum engagement envelope. When you dive, the weapon will follow you down, this provides two disadvantages for that weapon. The most important one is that as the altitude decreases, drag increases, slowing the missile down. A somewhat lesser important factor is that as the altitude decreases the specific impulse of the rocket engine also decreases. All missiles that are equiped with proportional navigation will follow you in this dive. The currently (to my knowledge) only existing exception existing in DCS is the AIM-120 AMRAAM, wich will follow a lofting profile, keeping its altitude up before diving in to chase the kill. Doing a split-s (or an aggresively angled chandelle turn for that matter) might make things worse for the missile, as it not only has to follow you in the dive, but also change its own direction drasticly. Tactics I have just described will hardly work against a missile fired from within Rtr (also known as the no-escape zone) Having an emitter on the 3-9 line means you are not closing in or receding from that emitter anymore than the surrounding terrain. Your aircraft will cause no dopplershift that might allow it stand out from the surrounding terrain or dropped chaff. I took the time to explain how this worked with coloured images in the guide you can find in my sig. A hard break might work against a missile fired from long range, but it should not save you from any shots taken at within Rtr.
  15. The answer is yes in both cases. At certain ranges, the energy is large enough to be registered by the RWR, but not enough is being reflected to be picked up by the radar scope.
  16. The Ka-50 will get a map for its AMMS, as it is based on the ingame map. The A-10C won't get a map for its TAD, as its based on real maps.
  17. You can set fog
  18. Go to C:\users\<yourname>\Saved games\DCS\Mission editor Find the logbook.lua there, copy it and keep it somewhere safe. After reinstalling your computer, put it back there.
  19. Don't worry about the activations for now. After you used your last one you will get a new one after one month, so you will never be locked out of the product you bought permanently, and if something freaky happens, you can always try to shoot an email to support. try pressing the windows key on your keyboard and type in "DCS update", or "DCS Repair" and see if the problem persists.
  20. Trip, you can get the F-15C as a standalone right now for just $5.99. It's on sale until the 24th I believe. Can hardly go wrong for that price :) The FM itself is fantastic. It had some thorough upgrades from BelSimTek a few years back, it's on par with all the other top of the line modules now. The systems remain simplified. Learning how to fight WVR (Within visual range) with the AACQ (Auto acquisition) radar modes takes only a little time, a few hours at best. BVR (Beyond visual range) might take some more time to get used to. I can tell from your sig that you have the F-5E, you'll be able to transfer some knowledge from that module to the F-15. There's a guide in my sig that may be able to help you on your way ;)
  21. Don't be the only target to shoot at. APCs don't have thick armor. the PGU-14 can penetrate it from further than 2 miles. Don't present yourself as a target until you're ready to shoot. The tanks will have a shorter time getting weapons to bear if you do a pop-up rather than a long dive towards the target. This will also reduce the angle of incidence that the shells will hit on the usually flat sides and rear of the tank. Maneuver aggressively. Don't just maneuver in one plane, mix it up with rolling and pitching. Break off and maneuver immediatly after shooting. Don't wait for the impact or return fire.
  22. Looks great! Can't wait to try it
  23. You'll need the NTTR in order to fly the red flag missions, it's currently on sale. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/terrains/nttr_terrain/ You don't need to pay to upgrade the client or anything, but there's nothing you can do in 2.0 without a NTTR key.
  24. TWS isn't silent or anything. You are still emitting. If the enemy could detect your RWS emissions, they can detect your TWS emissions as well. Most aircraft have blind spots in their RWR coverage. The area in wich par example the MiG-21 cannot detect emissions is pretty large. For the F-15 and Su-27, the blind spots are in a 45 degree cone above and below the aircraft. This means that when they bank it's very possible they are showing a blind spot to you.
  25. Q: Will aircraft that feature an advanced moving map system, like the Ka-50 and A-10C, have maps available in their systems for the Normandy terrain? Q: Will advanced system functions tied to the AO, par example the DIVERT CDU functions on the A-10C, still function on Normandy?
