I found it useful to declare a bugged contact to AWACS... when in doubt in MP.

Huh, nice. Though VAICOM would need to be updated too.

Real French Pilot explain Air to Air Combat with DCS
iborg replied to LTPERRY's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Very nice! -
Alternative design looks sweet. I'd definitely want to have the same amount of "on-throttle" controls as on my Warthog. And then more around it !
-
Meanwhile, the upcoming civilian flight sim specifies a RTX 2080 or Radeon VII with 8GB of VRAM as the "ideal spec" to render graphics like this. :music_whistling: So there's definitely room for optimization, but the former has the advantage of starting from a "clean slate" rather then a plate of spaghetti code.

Looks like the problem lies in your F-18 controls setup! Check them and reassign F10 to the map ?

Different Graphics Settings

How do you do that ? -
Huh, I thought DCS' rendering engine didn't work for most options in the Nvidia CP ?

[ITA] Banshee | PersianConquest PvE | Live Map&Stats
iborg replied to Maverick87Shaka's topic in Multiplayer
Nice. When I recently went back to DCS MP your server was the one I picked, because of the low latency , PG map and PvE set. -
Obviously I wouldn't want to get any "advantage" à la "better missilez / gold ammo" by paying :P Really. As you say there's War Thunder for that. Any such subscription scheme should NOT translate to a competitive advantage over non-paying players. I'd settle for a special forum badge, for the thousand messages I post here anyway :music_whistling:
-
Well frankly, I would t mind paying a small monthly subscription to fund developments on the core software. Between Netflix, Xbox and iTunes Music I mean, it wouldn’t be a huge sacrifice. This should not be mandatory to play the game though. Just a mean to fund DCS development outside of buying modules.

Wouldn’t the ADF functionality sub as a poor man’s NDB anyway ?
-
Maybe the USAF doesn’t train for it. Other air forces still do. For eg I’m quite sure the French Air Force specifically doesn’t rely on GPS guidance for the nuclear deterrent mission (which incidentally also involves nap of the earth, TFR flight). Different philosophies. It would be nice to have the Mirage 2000D in DCS... which is a two seater, spreading the workload, like the Strike Eagle.

Even better, take into account the water temperature. While you can swim a long time in tropical waters*, if you eject over freezing sea, well, everyone saw the ending of Titanic :megalol: * assuming sharks don't eat you, so ED needs to introduce a shark model :music_whistling:

Yay this. Otherwise in VR one needs to pause the game in order to call the mission briefing, memorize lat coordinates, unpause to input coordinates in the plane, re-do it for lon coordinates because committing 8 figures to short-term memory is the max I can do :smartass:. Having the mission briefing with target coordinates on the kneeboard would be infinitely more practical.
-
Seconded! Heck, let's even extend this idea to a kneeboard page that would log all communications.
-
Shouldn't it be a "flythrough" tho ? ;-)

I took advantage of the December sale to buy the Normandy map. As I lived in Cherbourg and witnessed the 1994 anniversary celebrations of the D-Day, I couldn't not be interested in flying over a re-creation of it ! The general looks are nice, and I was pleased to overfly the famous Pointe du Hoc battleground. However, I was quite disappointed by Cherbourg itself... The great harbour ("grande rade") is missing ! The huge exterior breakaways are a significant feature, perhaps the most significant feature as they encompass the world's second largest protected anchorage and they're definitely the most recognizable landmark when you're looking at the sea there. I hope its only a temporary absence from the Normandy map.

I strongly support this suggestion as well.

General questions about VR and HORAS (Warthog)
iborg replied to jmaurin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi ! I'm a new Rift S and Warthog user (bought the throttle recently, and been using the stick on a VKB base for longer). 1) Having been a TrackIR5 user... now I most definitely prefer flying in VR. Yes, it's that much more immersive. The tradeoff in picture quality is worth it. 2) I'v mapped as many frequently used functions as possible on the HOTAS setup, but still use mouse in VR (my stick is centrally mounted, so the right-hand shelf of my sim chair supports it). 3) So far in DCS I use a stick button to zoom in. 4) Yes. I use VoiceAttack with the VAICOM plugin and added module-specific voice commands. It works great. 5) That would be SRS (as in Simple Radio Standalone, not Sexual Reassignment Surgery :P). Cheers! -
With luck, the recent sale of retired French Mirage F1 to an American private training air force might get some performance data out there...

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
iborg replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Will it work on a Fat Mamba base ? -
Ta-152H would be sweet. Also the Do-335, I loved it in Il-2 1946.

It's currently the American Police mode. It shoots you even if you're innocent. :-P
