  1. Bunyap. He has probably taught the majority of the community how to fly their aircraft, most notably the A-10C. Without Bunyap I'd still be looking for the inverter switch on my A-10!
  2. As others have said it's down to ED's implementation of thermal, or lack of it. Thermal in DCS is merely your standard color image with a black and white filter on it.
  3. The question should be - why shouldn't you chose the A-10C? It's by far and away the most complex and rewarding aircraft in DCS right now. Period.
  4. With regards to keys here's the deal; Steam > DCS ✓ DCS > Steam ✗ I believe you should be able to just buy the module on Steam and use it on Standalone. You can view the module key by clicking on the right side of Steam; "CD Key". Use DCS module manager (or using cmd prompt from DCS World/bin) to download the module then use your Steam key to activate it.
  5. I find that Vsync lowers my frames by up to 20 fps on times. I prefer not to run it at all. Some good tips for saving frames; - turn the shadows setting to the lowest or even better; off. - turn off your mirrors, they are the biggest hit to frames by far (M key in FC3 aircraft) - lower the preload radius in settings, there'll be a sweet spot where distance doesn't look blurry but performance is good
  6. Wouldn't that be the same as using the aircraft already in DCS to make missions? Almost definitely yes!
  7. M-2000C has it? How do I access this glorious feature?!
  8. Thank you very much good sir!
  9. Just 2 questions regarding the A-10C and it associated displays' symbology. 1. Where can one find the texture files for the TAD symbology? You know the symbols for the bullseye, your own aircraft, the SPI cake etc 2. If you go to Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Textures\AvionicsCommon you'll find a file called indication_RWR.tga. It's the symbology for the US RWR display. But in this .dds file the symbology is white, yet in game it shows up green as we all know. How does the game do this, is there some script file or am I missing some sort of fancy texturing technique!?
  10. Fair enough. If anything happens to me I'll send you a postcard from Guantanamo bay!
  11. The document in question has several chapters rescinded which to me signals that someone higher up has been through it and picked out the bits deemed secret. I really doubt this sort of document, if classified and not for public release, would've make it out into the public domain and lasted this long. It's been available on the net since early late 2012, if the government really wanted it gone it would be gone. I get the bit about using the document for illicit purposes i.e. another nation using it to create a copy of the A-10, but I don't think reading it for purposes of entertainment is gonna warrant a visit from the MiB!
  12. urm...it sort of is... https://www.scribd.com/document/279159970/T-O-1A-10C-1-Flight-Manual-USAF-Series-a-10C-2012
  13. It's been like this for so long I'd go as far as to call it a 'feature'! Hopefully with all the ship based modules coming soon something will be done about it.

    F-15E?

Info for the MiG-23 is out there in one form or another but it sort of got cancelled not long after being announced by Razbam. Here's a quote from Matt Wagner; http://forums.mudspike.com/t/razbam-mig-23-canceled/3314/91
  15. Place a Shilka down, that will do some damage!
  16. I stand corrected. Although I could swear I've seen TGP footage with color. It's a bugger to find them, I've found one here I think, skip to 2:57 and try to ignore the horrendous music!
  17. Surely the color ability comes from the LITENING pod itself. The pod we have in-game is the LITENING AT (Advanced Targeting) pod aka LITENING II. According to everything I've found on the net, it has both FLIR and CCD which is basically color tv. Heck even in the DCS A-10C manual it says it has CCD.
  18. I wish ED would drop a patch which enabled color vision for the A-10C TGP. The real life counterpart has this function so it seems odd that we don't. Truth be told it's actually needed now more than ever in DCS given the aids of the current 'thermal'. Here's to hoping!
  19. Offset point is usually a point a set distance away from a waypoint. i.e. the waypoint comes first. I don't think it's possible to set an offset before a waypoint if that's what you're trying to do? To place a marker in a custom position use the TAD cursor and hit Lctrl + Right arrow. If you're trying to get info relative to 2 points you could set the TAD to 'Hook to Cursor' and then hook your selected point and move the cursor to your desired point.
  20. With regards to the F-117 it's totally achievable. Almost everything on the aircraft is declassified (mvsgas will probably know the specifics) and easily replicable. The F-117 essentially used the same as what we already have with the A-10C's TGP in DCS. Lase a target and guide a bomb to it. That's already well implemented in DCS. It's stealth features were hardly state of the art either, as mvsgas mentioned it basically flew in a straight line and hoped it wasn't spotted! The reason the F-117 hasn't been picked up by a dev (or not that we know of) is that the idea keeps getting shot down because it would be 'too boring' and 'overly monotonous'. I couldn't disagree more, everyone enjoys different things and if developed by a reputable 3rd party team (or ED themselves) it could actually sell quite well. If you'd have asked me if I wanted to see a Viggen in DCS last year I'd have said god no, it didn't interest me. But Leatherneck / HB have completely changed my mind. I'd buy it purely on the basis of it being so well done! I think we all accept the F-22 and F-35 are beyond the scope of what's declassified at the current time. The F-35 more so than the F-22 I'd imagine.
  21. I wonder if the TISL system was functional in the military sim version of the A-10?
  22. Funny story; an F-4 (IIRC) actually shot an AGM-88 HARM at a B-52 because it picked up the radar guided tail gun's emissions. It hit the B-52 and it survived and they called the bomber 'in HARM's way'!
  23. This is a brilliant page that should answer all your questions; http://www.ausairpower.net/TE-Sidewinder-94.html
  24. Remember this is a simulator (or that's the idea) so stuff should be true to real life...or as close as possible. If your idea is how it is in real life - sure I'm onboard. If in reality it's totally different then I'm totally against it.
