I think it has the same effect on the F-15C too, but once you burn through you can use TWS. You can't lock multiple targets tho while you're being jammed. (Don't own FC3 but I own F-15C) The M2K one is true, annoys the hell outta me! This is also true but if you're using a MiG-21 to dogfight you're doing something wrong!

5 years ago but probably still relevant; https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1486562&postcount=139 Found some pictures; https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2912977&postcount=9 https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2923301&postcount=56 EDIT; latest update I've been able to find; https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2925744&postcount=84 Also IIRC I think there was some mention of Polychop doing a Tornado GR.1.

If you're already being engaged then ECM is not gonna do any more favors for you. Once they've burn't through the ECM is no longer of use.

How so? EDIT; I see now.

Due to the fact ED have modeled BVR missiles incorrectly ECM is almost a pointless excercise. One of the functions of ECM jamming IRL is to force the enemy to get closer in order to have a good enough lock to launch. Because of the incorrect modeling the Rmax (max launch range) is actually just below the ECM burn through point. Thus meaning that regardless of whether you're running your ECM the launch distance will remain roughly the same. At longer ranges (say 40 to 60 miles) it's handy if you know you're heading towards enemies. It will disguise your altitude for a brief period of time but equally you're putting a out a huge announcement that you're in the area. Not handy if you're trying to arrive stealthily. In short I think running ECM in game is a placebo effect; it feels like it's working because it should be working. You can run it if you want (I personally don't) but it's not really gonna change anything. If you want accurate missile simulation use this mod - https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=131806

Simming the stealth fleet; a matter of time?

mvsgas, it looks from those pictures as if it has no RWR? Am I blind or did it really have no RWR? -
I cant find target with labels on. How to find target?

Welcome to the A-10C and FLIR implementation in DCS World; where everything is hot! Even in winter! For fixing it you have 2 choices; Number 1; Number 2; - this will fail integrity check if you go online https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1758179/ -
Simming the stealth fleet; a matter of time?

An F-117 is well within the realms of possibility. It only carried LGB's, the technology of which is already well modeled within DCS. The internal systems i.e. cockpit displays and gauges can easily be found online and how they work. I imagine finding information on it's flight characteristics wouldn't be difficult either but I haven't looked truth be told. The only really classified bit would be it's stealth ability, what it's body / paint were made of. But this isn't information necessary to the creation of a DCS module. As for aircraft like the F-22 and JSF (F-35) all I can say is keep dreaming! More so for the F-35 than the F-22. Maybe we'll see an F-22 modeled in DCS if DCS lasts that long but an F-35? Almost definitely not. Getting data for the F-35 would be the equivalent of drawing blood from a stone. Also for anyone who's interested, 3D view of F-117A cockpit - http://www.nmusafvirtualtour.com/media/073/F-117A%20Cockpit.html -
The easiest way to do it is drop a random mark point on the map (Lctrl + Left arrow key IIRC). Then switch to Mark point mode on the CDU and go to edit current selected steerpoint - it will be the mark point you just created. Edit this markpoint with the co-ordinates your JTAC gives you. EDIT; the main man Bunyap has done a video doing exactly what you've asked -

I think I might buy 2 copies of this module in case I get bored of one! But seriously I will be buying this.

Good to know I'm not the only one who noticed this bug! And can we move on from the joke? It was a bit of dark humor, life goes on. Sithspawn will already be on his way so let's not descend any further!

Muh AMRAAM's!

Razbam gonna be rich come release day for this! I can't believe how good it looks!

I feel like bn880's point is being missed - when you're ground pounding in an A-10C you're never (or should never) gonna be close enough to visually identify the guy locking you. AFAIK the aircraft skins are the same for both teams anyway. In the A-10C there is no way to be 100% certain you're locking an enemy. The certitude is only as good as your judgement. I've shot down about half a dozen Su-27's in my A-10C while in an active TA. About half have been friendly. The fact of the matter is when a '29' on the RWR is locking you up and buzzing right past in the exact maneuvers one would perform to score a kill you've gotta make a decision; do you give it the benefit of the doubt or shoot him down? If the situation permits I ask in chat for any friendly fighters in the TA to declare. If there's no response then I'm shooting that jet down. Simple as that. Maverick, short of unmixing the the teams the best solution I can think of is to add a couple pictures, under the pretense of intel, of the enemy aircraft to each sides brief. That way one can identify aircraft via skins with more certainty. i.e. BLU brief has a picture of a RED Su-27 and MiG-29 that shows the skins.
-
The same as in the L-39 and soon to be Tomcat I'd imagine. Admittedly in single player it would put an extra load on the pilot but then again the vast majority of DCS buyers use their aircraft online.
-
This is the solution but there's always gonna be those that oppose it. If it we're my server I'd say screw em and set it straight but that's Maverick's call, not mine. I believe BlueFlag uses NATO for BLU and Warsaw Pact for RED. This is a much more realistic scenario that what we have on the 104th. Like the guy above me mentioned; when you're ground pounding in your A-10C and '29' appears on the RWR you've got no clue who's side he's on. Sometimes they're friendly and lock you up just to get a visual reference but for me that's a hostile act and many a time I've ended up shooting down friendlies. I don't think TS is the solution - if everyone was to be in one channel the voice spam would be unbearable. A SimpleRadio server would go some way to helping. But unless RWR's have IFF inbuilt there's really no other way. Also - Mirage IFF guide - all Mirage pilots read this

The SA-6 has a maximum range of 37km (20 nm) - that's the range at which it's search / track radar will turn on. It's max launch range is 13km (7 nm). If you're getting locked at 130km (70.2 nm) that's not an SA-6. The ideal launch range of the Kh-58U is 70km (although I've pushed them out to over 150 before now), the Kh-25MPU can launch at 25km. Conclusion - PEBCAK. Grab an Su-25T and do what is necessary comrade!
-
You must be within launch range, i.e. between ~1 mile and 8 miles. Also get your aim within the 'keyhole'. See image
