  1. Many thanks. This module, already exceeding all expectations, gets improved again. We've been flying the A4-E almost exclusively (i.e. jets) for the past three months now. Whilst we've mostly gotten used to the "old oil in the drums", the changes here will surely be welcomed. The Wheel brake default binding changes are most welcomed also. S!
  2. Good call, I use a Warthog and I make sure my switches are all in the correct position. I dont airstart very often at all but I have 'sat down' the 109K, (just mention my most recent) on the ground due to the sim reading my switch state and assuming the corresponding configuration. ! S!
  3. I've gotten into the habit of exercising each axis in all directions which I guess is what others above mean when they say 'HOTAS checklist' . S!
  4. Fair question OP. In my view, there's nothing stopping ED from stating a better guidance on the release date expectation. (Fact is, they are damned if they do and damned of they don't). we the community will feedback all responses either way! I'm personally OK with waiting longer (you milage may vary of course) if it means a higher quality initial release. There are modules released already (years ago) with unresolved issues which is very frustating. Anything to avoid adding to this list by ED is certaintly the way to go. For the cost of some additional weeks waiting, this seems to me to be a worthwhile trade. S!
  5. Better to wait for higher quality than get an instant satisfaction of a release, only to be disappointed with the state of readiness. Within reason, take the time necessary ED. Given the fact that pre purchase was offered, it's likely the extra wait will not be extensive. S! Joker
  6. So I've been flying the Sabre some over the last couple of months and I've not experienced this sound bug which is great news. Thanks ED team for the work. It means a lot! S! Joker
  7. The older thread was closed before any confirmation of fix was announced so bumping this one now! This old thread was started in May 2, 2016. It's now 2022 and in this new thread started April 9. On Dec 9, 2021 , it's getting another push/kick. Frankly, this "still being investigated" status is disappointing at best. The investigation has been done in truth, a resolution testing and verified and yet the official module seemingly cannot be updated. S! Joker
  8. LOL .... Nice job well done OP! re: acheivement unlocks ... I'm of the opinion to leave these for the more arcade titles. Now, sadly I guess I ought state that in no way am saying anything other than straight up calling out the difference, as I see it, between what DCS is and what other titles are ... there's no judgement or scorn intended nor should such be assumed. That said, I fully get your sentiments and have no disagreements with you .... yet, the OP's experience essentially IS that recognition or unlock achievement isn't it. Enough the share the story (thank you) and offer a good read to the rest of us who possible have had our own experiences or surely eventually will. S!
  9. My virtual hanger is also busy enough to run quite a nice virtual museum LOL. I fly WW2 warbirds on MP servers with Virtual Sqn. friends a lot and over the last many months, my other ride, when not flying WW2, is the A10C. Easy to fly, more challenging to fight, when up with a wingman, the A10C in action is all encompassing. But I think there's a hidden truth here which often is masked by the fancy shiny stuff .... we tend to fly what we love, that airframe that tickles the emotion deep down and DCS offers that opportunity like no other. Problem is, I love 'em all !!! S!
  10. Thanks for the correction, it's important. S!
  11. Nick10, I'm able to agree in part but not fully with you here. The Sabre and Mig15 modules are a rare pairing in DCS. The Caucasus map has been home to the Korea theatre (Korea1952 server for MP). We'd all over a Korea dedicated map to further enhance this early 1950's air combat experience in DCS. The very few technical issues that exist with the Sabre are not enough to ground her. Sadly one is a .50 cal bullet drop issue that in actuality, does not prevent flying her effectively but you do have to compromise with you point of aim which is frustrating, especially given the fix that is known but has not been implemented. The other issue is a 'sound bug' that comes and goes. Both these issues have threads under the Bugs section for the Sabre. Indeed, ' just shy of greatness' is right on! We agree again. As for interior 'modernisation' you'd need to flesh this comment out with details of what you mean. For my own experience, the cockpit is very good. Note, there are mods out there to swap the cockpit to a black cockpit if a change is what you're after sometime. "near impossible to use this aircraft currently in any practical sense in combat'. Oh Oh ...This is where I have to a disagree. Note: You do go on to refer to 'spotting' which is not specific to the Sabre (or any aircraft module) so this needs it's own answer. The DCS Sabre, as it stands today, is absolutely capable to deliver a full and equal match up, when put up against the Mig15, it's expected opponent. Two, like for like, skilled human pilots up against each other and unless one loses patience or makes a mistake, it's a real cat and mouse game up there that will have your heart rate amped just watching it. The Sabre is truely a very capable platform in a fight against it's expected opponent. As for spotting, you give away a little in your comment to suggest you are flying in single player. Even in MP, the spotting debates rage and in SP, up again the AI and their tactics, I get your frustrations. Part of the spotting topic is PC hardware and sim Settings, part is a 'seat time' thing (getting used to recognizing the enemy tactics, learning where they are likely to be at any point in the dogfight, maneuvering your own plane to a position that is most optimal ....) and part is entirely in the lap of the gods meaning, at some point in time, you are going to loose visual on the bandit not matter what you do and you'd better have a plan for when this happens 'cos it happens often. (If you can't see him, bet your shirt he's on your six and all that good advise) For hardware and settings, the forum has lots of threads on this topic. Do come back with questions if you need help. S!
  12. The module was* Belsimtek (now part of ED) and as ED are the platform as well, hopefully 'no willingness' is not the case (though it's a tough counter to make Tucano, I agree). NineLine has engaged with this topic above; it's just that the wheels are turning painfully slowly. The whole topic is unnecessary and it's doing no one any good. DCS2.7 has dropped (to acclaim, kudos ED) and once past the immediate bugs fix and patch cycle(s) that are inevitable, hopefully this will free up the short amount of time necessary to address this Sabre gun issue finally. As a community (on this thread in particular), we have put our best feet forward in the main, with research, testing our ideas and verifying a proposed solution. We have effectively communicated it in a mature and serious way. What boils down to little more than a tweak to an LUA line of code ........ DCS 2.7 has one solitoary update for the Sabre and it is a tweak, (likely of similar magnitude to that needed to address this Sabre guns issue). I read the changelog (linked) and ... heart sunk https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/openbeta/2.7.0.4625/ Here's hoping that DCS2.7's release frees up the time needed on ED's side. *EDIT: Update based on Buzzles correction below. S!
  13. and a month later .....LOL ... 30 odd pilots ... excellent. We (54 Sqn) are getting the backsides in gear and flying the Sabre on server. We flew on Sunday as a 4 ship and Tuesday as a 7 ship (F86s) recently and got into some great battles up in the contrails with Mig drivers who knew what they were doing. It was great fun and we're hoping we'll be joining future events when we can. S!
  14. Also note that once the outer are dry and you switch to the inner external tanks, you'll need to occassionally scan your main fuel gauge (right lower) front panel to notice when the main fuselage tanks are starting to be used. When the needle starts to move off "30" (30 x 100 lbs) that indicates that the inner tanks are dry! S!
  15. Bumping this OP ... going full screen for the F10 rather than a scrollable/moveable popup window (replicating paper chart/pad display) in cockpit is horrible. Essentially, the F10 map windowed rather than full screen is my ask here please. The kneeboard works as an alternative but we'd need scrollable and zoomable funcationality on it. S!
  16. Bumping this thread. BigNewy, since Oct last, have you had any news you can share regarding this F86f sound issue. Thanks S!
  17. To the OP, the Sabre (being a favourite of yours already) is indeed a wonderful module to fly in DCS, simply just to take up for a patrol even. The F86f is that bridge between the older WW2 modules and the newer jets, such as the F5 that followed. It's respresentative of it's era and in truth, if you've flown the WW2 warbirds, there is a real sense of skill transfer here. With all steam gauge panels and hardware switches, there's a real nostalgia in the cockpit which more and more appreciate. With it's traditional foe, the Mig-15 also available, the only thing not provided is your "seat time" to ensure a full understanding of what the operational envelope of the aircraft is, how to remain inside it, and how to take full measure if it's strengths and avoid it's weaknesses when matched against the Mig-15. It's a hands on stick fighter that calls for a real gentle mastery and it rewards with a real sense of achievement when flown well. Notes about the two issues already mentions above :- 1) sound bug - is specific to the F86f Sabre module, suffered commonly across the community and not present in any other module in the DCS portfolio. It is being looked into, most recently in October 2020 by BigNewy [Reported] Aircraft sound stops 2) 50.cal drop - is still being investigated and the community has proposed a solution which is still being reviewed. It is being looked into, most recently in October 2020 by NineLine [Checking] Super slow .50 caliber rounds So, bearing this in mind, and as to whether the Sabre isa worthwhile modules ... I will only say that I absolutely enjoy my experiences flying it. S!
  18. Thank you Nineline for pushing on this topic. I hope it is still alive. S! No.54 Joker from Repeating and Multi-Fire Weapons: By Gerald Prenderghast from TigerCheck: b ySteven A Fino
  19. Great news that the kneeboard is getting looked at. Resizing and moving the KB on the screen is fantastic PLEASE Keep the current toggle "on/off", "next page", "previous page" and "mark position" controls Consider developing the ability to magnify (zoom in/out) and move the map around within the kneeboard window with the mouse. This would mean no longer needing to use the F10 full screen which kills situation awareness instantly. The F10 is fantastic for mission prep prior to take off and briefing/de-briefing. However, in the air, the kneeboard should offer the functionality to move around the map and zoom in/out for greater detail all controlled by the mouse. Thereby replicating both e-map and paper map solutions. Thanks for addressing this much needed topic. S!
  20. There is an elephant in this thread ... so to speak .... and that refers to how the attack is being proscuted on the enemy bombers. The OP hasn't explained how he attacked the JU-88 ( accepting that a 4 on 1 attack would have been superior numerically) Hose pipe firing techniques of the beloved AI aside!, I do no suggest any kinda of "but you attacked wrong" commentry above by the way ..... yet how an attack is proscuted is an important part of this topic so as to be clear and ensure all who read it, understand the actual scenario being discussed and why it is so important. DD_Fenrir, this is good news, I guess we await the next updated later in the month. S!
  21. Good call SoW admins. This is an important decision and one which will be a huge benefit to everyone who flies SoW. Slots have been maxed out over the last week or so (pre latest DCS WW2 patch issues) which shows the popularity and demand. Any room to up the slot count (you must already be at max-count already eh) ? S!
  22. In NAV mode, the HUD does display both Distance and Time to next steerpoint on the bottom right side. But that's about it.
  23. I will add a Thank You also ... The continued improvements and developments to the Viggen are simply fantastic and reinforce why you guys are leading the way in terms of aircraft development. S!
  24. Overall, really enjoying the missions on Server so far. Many thanks for running it Alpenwolf. quick check .... Are the waypoints, say in "When the Mountains cry' for example, just a general location by the lake or are they supposed to be already over the water towers, say at lake four for example? S!
