IMO the really interesting thing about SH3/4 is not just the dynamic campaign, but that the campaign is both dynamic and scripted as well. I don't think that subsimmers seeking for realism would have been happy with a soley dynamic campaign either, because it would completely lack historical accuracy that you can only achieve with a scripting system. Another good example is F4AFs campaign. Some people tend to forget that AFs campaign differs from the other versions in that you can create packages on your own (okay there is the possibility to hijack other missions, but that's more like a workaround). That way it negates some of the drawbacks of the dynamic campaign engine, although I have to admit that Falcon's mission editor is horrible. <dreaming>My personal dream for DCS in the long term is actually a synthesis of the current DCS mission and campaign editor and AF's system, i.e. you have a mission editor, a campaign editor for creating "scripted" campaigns, a campaign editor to set up the initial conditions and unit placements of a dynamic campaign, and a dynamic campaign engine that creates missions and controls units on its own. Then you could use the mission editor independently to create single missions, or in combination with the campaign editor to create scripted campaigns. You could also combine the mission editor with the dynamic campaign enginge to create single missions in a larger war environment controlled by the computer (or for micromanagement of the AI and setting up scripted events). And if you are too lazy to create your own missions you could just pick one of the missions the dynamic campaign engine creates. That would be the best of all possible worlds.</dreaming> :)

The complete Oil War campaign has 100 missions (all three chapters), but since this is a branching campaign system it depends on the previous mission results which missions you have to play next. If you finished the campaign just restart it and depending on the outcome of your missions you will follow a different path with different missions. Read the GUI manual to learn more about how it works.

Yeah, happy birthday mate, have a nice one!!

I too experienced this effect initially, and I could cure it by setting a small deadzone for the x- and y-axis (5-10). I think the reason why this happens is that (especially on older X52s) the stick has some play, but the hall sensors are actually sensitive enough to register small unintended deviations from the exact center position. Usually when you trim and then center the stick without applying any force, you will just put your hand on the handrest. That way you unintentionally pull the stick back a little bit, which in turn results in the helicopter pitching up from the trimmed position. Applying a small deadzone prevents this from happening. Select "add aircraft" and then the AFAC task. In the aircraft selection dropdown menu you can now select the planes which can perform the task. Some of them (Su-17/24/25/27/34) can carry the SAB-100 "bomb", which is a container that carries multiple illumination flares. Set up an ordinary bombing run, for example with "point" as target type. Note the higher the plane's altitude the greater the illumination radius and time, although the brightness will be lower initially and I'm not sure right now after what time the flares burn off.

I'm glad about this development, hopefully OpenCL and DX11 will become the defacto standards for GPU computing. As the article says, nVidia announced that CUDA will be compatible with OpenCL, and ATI confirmed that their proprietary GPU computing technology (ATI Stream) will be compatible as well: http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/amd-adopts-opencltm-10-specification/story.aspx?guid=%7B2C008489-465A-42BD-8CE8-9FE44F332EFA%7D This would enable developers to write vendor independent software and therefore benefit the enduser.

Startup Procedures - Hope it helps you like it helps me
Acedy replied to DaWu's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hey Scif, welcome to the forums!! Use the mouse wheel to rotate the knob counterclockwise. Be sure that you have the "Tool Tips" and "Use these settings for all missions" options selected on the Options->Gameplay tab. -
Is there a way to get close up of abris or shkval tv view?
Acedy replied to zika1234's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
LWin + NumPad gives you close up snap views of different cockpit panels. LWin + NumPad 2 is a close up of the Shkval and ABRIS. -
Emergency procedures and checklists are part of the extended flight manual that will be available in print only early next year.

collective - X52 throttle (z) axis will not invert
Acedy replied to LivingSacrifice's topic in Bugs and Problems
@Chillspider: Sounds like you are trying to assign your throttle to the "Collective up/down" commands on the "INS Collective Stick" page, which is wrong. You have to assing it to the "Flight Control Collective" axis that you can find on the "Axis Commands" page (red marked line in the drop down menu). -
Theoretically it is possible, you could just open the mission and add flights for clients / change existing ones. However the problem right now is that only the "activate group" trigger is working in MP, so the mission logic would be screwed if the mission contains other trigger types.

Afaik you don't see blade flapping for other human players in MP.

Q: I have bought the Russian version of Black Shark. Can I download the 100-mission "Georgian Oil War" campaign that shipped with the English version? A: Yes, you can download it for free from here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=2053&scr=products&lang=ru (Registration/login required)

Hi Sniper, this FAQ item should answer your question: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=568704&postcount=3

Sure you can't detect button presses and the like. I didn't say that the ME is the ideal tool to create training missions that cover all kinds of topics (interactive ramp start is a no-go of course), but I guess with some imagination and goodwill from the user you could create a quite entertaining lesson for e.g. navigation or weapons employment, using voice overs or text messages. For example you could set up a flight plan where each part of the lesson is triggered once the player arrives at the next waypoint, and if he wants to repeat a certain part he just flies to that waypont and the explanation gets triggered once again etc. Not the optimum, but it is a start.
-
What kind of "control issues" do you get?
-
Well, why don't you go ahead and use the trigger system to create some more interactive training missions? Just a suggestion. :)

Just click into the column of the device that you want to save/load the profile for.

multi monitor picture request !
Acedy replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Nice, I also got it working with the ABRIS+Shkval on the 2nd screen in fullscreen, using WinXP, an ATI HD4870 and two screens @1280x1024 each. My resolution is set to 2560x1024 (ingame), so I didn't have to do the trick with the additional "virtual" 3rd screen. FPS drop is minimal. For those who don't know how to enable horizontal span mode for ATI cards: start CCC in advanced mode and open the Displays Manager tab. If you currently have your Desktop extended (not stretched) to the 2nd screen (i.e. the taskbar is only visible on your main screen), right click on the 2nd screen and disable it, then right click on the disabled screen and select "Stretch main horizontally onto monitor". This is ATI's equivalent for nVidias "horizontal span mode". After that your horizontal resolution should have doubled and the taskbar should be stretched over both screens. Additionally, I have found a workaround for the stretched single player GUI. Since the GUI and game engine are now separated entities, I thought there must be a switch somewhere which allows you to set a different resolution for the GUI than for the Sim and also start the GUI in window mode, while the Sim itself runs in fullscreen, and indeed there is. Backup the ...\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\BlackShark.lua file and open it with Notepad++. Scroll down to line 195 and insert these lines (with your own values): After that it should look like this: The values specify the width and height of the GUI window, so just replace the values with your preferred settings (in order to see the full window choose values that are somewhat smaller than the resolution of your preferred working screen). Also set fullscreen to false so that you can drag the GUI to that screen. Inserting these lines will override the settings from the options screen, but only for the GUI, the resoultion and full screen setting as they are displayed in the options will still be valid for the game engine. Unfortunately this works only for the single player GUI, I haven't found the switch for the multiplayer GUI yet. -
Did you download bot the setup.exe and the data1.cab files, and put them into the same directory before starting the installer?

I merged your two threads.
