  1. Personally I really like it because in every other aircraft the position feels too far back.

  3. Very nice! Thank you! Publishing a list of omitted features and known bugs should be standard for early access releases. God knows that people have become annoyed at the lack of information in the past, for which you had to ask about individual systems/weapons, their status, and dig up that info from various places.
  4. Dont be sorry, it's not your fault. Im just disappointed in how poorly this is being handled by Polychop. Who in their right mind does a reveal like this behind a paywall? The Kiowa is gonna be interesting to a degree in that there's a whole lot more Bell 206 pilots out there who, even if they've not flown the Kiowa itself, should still have a general idea of how it's expected to behave. Got to fly one myself this summer, was a blast, and it was cool to experience how well DCS training transferred over to maneuvering.
  5. Funny thing is, with the current "if you're not a military pilot of that exact model your argument is moot" going on we'd might as well argue that if you're not that AND have flown inverted you have no reason to doubt it. My viggen flew just fine after losing a wing the other day, but hey, what do I know. Edit: Nothing personal, I just meant in general.
  6. A cursory web search makes it sound like Nvidia finally built in support for Freesync at the beginning of this year and that it seems to work fine. Might want to see if those reviews you read were before 2019 or not. And yup, if you want all the goodies it's pricey. But hey, it has G-Sync too ;)
  7. If 38'' is the widest you can go and you really want a 1600, then this one has all that you need. https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-38GL950G-B-gaming-monitor But frankly, at this point we're in "money's no object" territory, it's probably in the ballpark of twice your GPU price.
  8. https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/gaming/49--chg90-qled-gaming-monitor-lc49hg90dmnxza/ Something like that? It fits the bill in every regard except it's still 1440 vertical res. I legit can't find *any* wide curved monitor with more than that. Peripheral vision is king, I used to fly with 3x surround monitors (and even at some point 5x one in portrait mode) before VR was a thing, but I don't think you'd like having bezels and some distortion. If it was me I'd go back to 60hz (120 feels more like a Counter-Strike millisecond money drain) and instead sit closer to a 4K display of a good size - or the dream, 3x4k surround, but that's insanely demanding.
  9. Might want to make a list. VR is king for Huey, which is why that's the responses you're getting. Hell, Im using it too. The "heli pilot-specific monitor response" you're looking for doesn't really exist. But some notes. - DVI and HDMI are the same signal, so "not wanting an adapter" makes no sense. - Screens are usually either high res or high framerate, so you're gonna have a hard time finding both. - Beyond 1440 res is borderline superfluous for a monitor of that size, which is why it's rare. I doubt it's even noticeable to go from 1440 and 1600. Whats even rarer is a 1600+ res on a curved monitor of that size. Since your criteria has already eliminated all options on best buy and I dont live in the US I can't be of much help. Good luck.
  10. The flat reference was to a potential free map of Libya/Egypt, not Afghanistan.
  11. Yeah Im not excited about a desert map either, except maybe some really good mi-8/24 campaigns coming out of Afghanistan. But I suspect that's precisely why - they've already got a ton of textures and assets to re-use for it, and less effort than forested or more populated maps. Then again, at least its the first desert map for those without one, Normandy and Nevada stopped being worth their SSD space a long time ago for me. I just hope its not all flat.
  12. My money is still on Egypt/Libya and that the photo is of some other map in the pipeline. Fits the bill in every way, while the one in the photo fits pretty almost nothing.
  13. Sums up why I never buy the whole "We'll go back and fix things after we've finished our current module" bull. Talk is cheap. It's the case with Ugra and Normandy, and now we're gonna wait and see about Polychop and the Gazelle as well. As keen as I am about flying in the mountain ranges of Lebanon, Ugra Media is just Ugh to me.
  14. Funny thing is that the player-controlled helis tend to drop like bricks from being struck by just a miniscule amount of infantry small arms fire, it's even worse than getting hit by tracers from vehicles. The damage model is definitely bad.
  15. Worst thing is that enabling/disabling FFB requires a client restart to kick in (or even a restart upon the first opening of DCS for it to even kick in). So having a module with not only broken FFB, but even non-functional to the point that it breaks the controls altogether, means that you can either turn on FFB and fly with it in every other module (even the ones without it at least default to a functioning center spring behaviour), or turn it off just for the Gazelle. Let's just say that it's too much effort to switch off FFB, turn on SimFFB and restart to fly the Gazelle and then do it all again to fly anything else. End result - shelving the Gazelle.
  16. They should use this rating scale to evaluate the quality of each module/feature. The viggen is rated as seen above.
  17. The infantry have always felt more deadly than most vehicles - especially without tracers and superhuman accuracy - so they definitely need to be tuned. On a surprisingly positive note though, I flew the Mi-8 for the first time ever today, and I really enjoyed the damage model...Getting shot up by a humvee, engine fire and losing power but enough to do a crash landing with the rotors flopping, gear buckled but ended up sliding through the snow, then coming to a stop with the glass having been shot up or damaged in the crash, but alive. In the Gazelle it's 2-3 bullets, and then "peeeeeeeeeeew" as the engine dies in a split second and you freefall and get vaporized on the ground instantly. Sure, it's weaker, but it acts the same regardless of if its small arms fire or a missile strike, just seems like a lazy Arma 3-level damage model.
  18. I legit did not know that this was the case. That we've been flying fake "bonus" models is very disappointing.
  19. It'd be great, but the Gazelle is notably half-assed in all its features. - "Waiting on the F14 code for multicrew", and yet... - "Want to release the Kiowa" before FM improvements. - "Need to know what ED changed" for the major audio bugs, which is still taking months. - "Not gonna develop FFB, but at least fix its basic functionality" - never happened. To expect them to be even moderately innovative enough to implement a light version of Jester, or things such as porting over machine gunner AI, seems unlikely. What do you think the odds are that the Kiowa will be the same story?
  20. Isnt the Viviane almost the only thing that actually is inaccurate because of being classified? For example they said that the symbology is completely different from the real thing And thats not even going into its "locking" mechanism, how that causes lots of stuttering while moving, and the ranging laser being unreliable.
  21. By this logic, should we worry about the VR optimisations not being free then? - Other maps are already feature complete, check - Relies on map changes, not game/engine, check - Not explicitly announced that it will be free, check
  22. Would say no. Most conflict sided and scenarios are pure fiction already, dont need more of it.
  23. "It will present such major cities as Israeli Haifa and Shefaran, Lebanese Beirut and Tripoli, Turkish Adana and Gaziantep, Jordanian Irbit and Jerash, but of course the cities of the Syrian Arab Republic - Damascus, Homs, Hama, Lattakia, Iglib, Aleppo, Raqka and etc." If you're from Haifa I thought you'd know that very much of the entire western coastline is anything but sand. Though since it's Ugra Media, maybe itd be better if it was.
