  2. I gave you directions for backing up your input folder and putting your backup input folder back into your new config folder 0.o Hopefully you haven't emptied your recycle bin yet. If not you can recover your keybinds. Only other options are - windows updates, driver updates, DCS Repair which can be done from the start menu, dcs cleanup which will remove any mods if any were installed, or outdated files.
  3. Have you noticed the weather in the missions you're flying when you're doing this? High cloud density causes stuttering on my rig.
  4. open windows explorer and navigate to C:\users\xxxx\saved games\DCS World\config xxxx being your computer user name, and then drag the input folder to like the desktop and copy or move. then delete the config folder all together, and launch dcs. It will recreate the config folder and you'll have to set your graphics and audio settings up again. Before confirming setting changes drag your backup input folder back into the new config folder, and then apply your new settings which should restart, and your controls should be as you left them. Could be an error in a .lua file or something that resetting your graphics options this way could fix.
  5. are you making sure to click the DCS window and it being the selected program on your desktop before pressing buttons? easy mistake to make.
  6. the odyssey+ has new anti screen door effect screens.. might be worth a shot. I almost wish I had waited to buy my Odyssey, as the odyssey+ has had sale prices for less than what I paid for my odyssey recently lol. I don't know how clear it will be vs other headsets but if it improves the picture at all I wish I had another $400 laying around.
  7. So you guys have measured your IPD and adjusted the physical roller on the headset to match that? In the mixed reality portal settings it will tell you the distance between center of lenses when you adjust the roller, which is meant to match your physical IPD which is a measurement of the distance between the center of your pupils when focused on something maybe 2-3 feet or further in front of you. I got a pretty big head so the max IPD setting in mixed reality portal is like 71.808 with the original Odyssey and just barely wide enough for me with the widest setting but it's key to set that to match the distance between your pupils or you will feel crosseyed. From there I also adjust how the headset sits against my face to put my eyeballs in the vertical sweet spot, you know you're there when the picture is it's clearest, provided the IPD is correctly set on the headset. Frankly, I didn't measure my IPD before realizing that adjusting the roller on the headset adjusts how far apart the lenses are from eachother. I just rolled it til the picture looked clear, with no double vision, which was the max width for me. So either adjust the roller, or focus on your finger with your arm fully stretched and get someone to measure the distance between the center of your pupils in mm and that's your IPD" the "Force IPD" setting in DCS world isn't the same thing.. it makes the world larger or smaller, personally I don't use it. The physical roller to adjust the HMD IPD, at least on the non+ is on the bottom of the front of the headset in the middle. And it physically moves the lenses closer together or further apart inside the HMD. In the screen snip below, those are the settings for WMR within windows, accessed by clicking the three dots on the bottom left of mixed reality portal and clicking "settings" then "headset display" in the new window. In WMR headsets without a physical roller to adjust IPD, you adjust the slider, which would be a software setting, where the Odyssey uses a physical setting, i think maybe in conjunction with WMR software. I'm not saying anybody who's posted hasn't tried this. So don't take it the wrong way. I don't tend to notice a difference in DCS vs other VR experiences.
  8. When 2.5 was first released, I and several of my friends encountered a texture error that caused old janky looking trees after updating. running dcs repair fixed it then. unsure if this is what OP is running into, but I'm pretty sure I ran into it even after a fresh install during some troubleshooting back then. Memory's a little vague tho.
  9. You can download and run MSI Afterburner and set it to display onscreen details of cpu, gpu, and memory usage, as well as framerate. Or if you're just looking for framerate information you can hit ctrl+pause while in game to turn on the framerate counter. But with afterburner you can set up an onscreen display that will show up in game, you can set it up to show CPU usage by individual core which could help identifying system bottlenecks. It also allows you to overclock your gpu and set manual gpu fan speeds if you are so inclined and have knowledge on the subject, but I personally only use it to monitor temps and system usage while gaming from time to time.
  10. Once the Hornet gets better IFF I'm sure it will compete pretty well with the current FC3 aircraft. 10 spamrams for dinner? In the mirage once I'm setup for combat there's really not a lot of difference in operating it's weapon systems and operating any of the FC-3 fighters. So far, it just so happens that no one has developed a fighter capable of going toe to toe with the airfames from FC3 which use professional flight models at this point. I'm generally set up to the point where I only need hotas controls in most click pits by the time I'm actually in a fight or landing, and I can also designate my own waypoints in most clickpits where fc3 aircraft have to be set in the mission editor. Operating the M2K radar is pretty much same sensation as operating the F-15 radar. The F-14 jester AI will yell at you when an enemy's on your six. I kind of doubt that a full fidelity F-15C module would be any less formidable than it's FC3 counterpart.
  11. Flaming cliffs has been a part of DCS world for some time now. MAC is FC3 + 4 aircraft that they already have flight models and 3d models for and adds some appeal for newcomers. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the brunt of development for converting these aircraft to FC3 making a long list of controls and modes to switch from, that add's to the base package that I'm calling "The Gateway Drug." The whole point afaik was something easy to develop while adding to the top selling module in DCS World. Newcomers are a good thing. It's not targeted at the die hard sim enthusiast who likely already own all of the full fidelity modules. Have you not flown any of the FC3 aircraft? Like, the most common aircraft in multiplayer? It's a good entrypoint for newbies. Most of the friends I've got interested in the game by starting them out with FC3 have grown to adopt quite a few full fidelity modules. Hence the gateway drug. A $20-$40 package with all the FC3 aircraft is easier to bite than $80 for one aircraft for someone unaccustomed to simming and we all started somewhere. And the addition of 4 more aircraft in that package affords them a bit higher pricetag. And let's be real here.. FC3 aircraft require more button binding on my hotas setup than I require for click pits.. and you still have to learn the basics of flight, understand what you're seeing on your radar, know the limitations of missiles and weaponry. The controls list is huge and intimidating. It's not exactly child's play. Frankly I have just as much fun in the DCS F-15C or Flanker or Fulcrum as I do in the M2K, the hornet which i don't fly in MP as I'm awaiting the improved IFF and LTWS and TWS. Soon the Tomcat. I highly doubt this is going to have an effect on ANYONE's gameplay at all. ANd this has all been said before in threads regarding mac. The people who seem upset at this idea imo should take a chill pill, go take a flight in any given one of the modules within DCS and have fun. I won't be buying MAC, I already have the full fidelity models of the 4 coming aircraft. But if this makes that first initial purchase that much more appealing to friends I bring into the game or new players. It's a good thing. The community can afford to grow. Whether it be FC3 F-15's or mirage's tomcats and hornets.
  12. There's a video of a guy flying low over caucausus getting about 55 fps minimum flying low@ 4k with his 2080Ti. @3440x1440 I get like 80-120 fps in the hornet over persian gulf. I upgraded from a 980Ti though. If I had a 1080Ti I probably would've skipped this gen. I'd personally never buy two generations in a row. I'd probably not have bothered upgrading from my gtx 680 4GB til pascal or now if not for the switch to ultra wide years back and the 980Ti being the most powerful offering at the time.
  13. I usually just google guides specific to my motherboard for a baseline. der8auer had a good video for my specific motherboard and cpu. He delids and aims for higher clocks. I mainly used it as a guide for every setting in the bios other than the vcore and cpu ratio. Pushing 5ghz isn't a priority of mine, and my attempts at it tell me I'd need to delid my 8700k to push even 5ghz, and I'm honestly not sure if that'd be enough, as voltage requirements from 4.9 to 5ghz were excessive. where 4.9 is comfortable at 1.275 vcore and an average of about 75C in stress tests. Moral of my story I guess is i'd look for guides specific to your motherboard.. in my experience they give you everything you need except the voltage and frequencies required to OC your little piece of the silicon lottery, if it plays nicely with oc'ing at all.
  14. thanks for answering that question. Sounds about the same as the original Samsung Odyssey. enjoy your new headset. I'm a little jealous of the anti-screen door effect screens.
  15. I'm opted out of beta at the moment.
  16. Just chiming into say I'm not experiencing this even when turning the PD up to 1.8 or higher. More info - i'm not running any mods. Ran a dcs repair after the update as I usually would. Perhaps it's because I backed up my input folder and deleted the config folder in saved games? Latest nvidia drivers, and all the latest windows updates and system drivers as well. That being said - I have no idea what I've done differently than other posters in this thread. I thought it might be a vive only thing but gladman's running an odyssey too. The fact that I'm not getting the white box says to me something can be fixed somewhere at the user end.
  17. Go to start menu, Eagle Dynamics, Repair DCS World. Make sure video drivers are up to date as well as system drivers. If still crashing after that - I'm just going to cover the basics - I assume since you can get the game to launch in VR that you have WMR for Steam in stalled in steam. Given how new the odyssey+ is you probably already have the latest but start menu, Samsung HMD Odyssey setup, go through the steps to verify the firmware is up to date. Type "Control Panel" into cortana, press enter, in new window double click "Power Options", ensure set to high performance. Might be worth going into device manager, and double checking that your usb hubs don't have some form of power management enabled as well. IMO - Launch SteamVR and let it open Mixed reality portal to bypass the cliffhouse, then run DCS. Other things to check - in SteamVR settings you may want to double check your supersampling settings and make sure to either set it manually per application including dcs, or leave at 100% for DCS and use the pixel density option in the VR settings. Don't want to mix the two. Also, in the system settings I'd make sure to lower the monitor resolution, as a high resolution can effect performance. Also run Windows update manaully, I just type "windows update' in cortana and hit enter, then "Check for updates". There have been several windows updates of importance lately. If none of that helps, you can try reinstalling directx or the vcredistx64.exe files found in the distr folder of your dcs installation directory.. Maybe even try backing up your input folder in C:\users\xxxx\saved games\dcs world\config\ by dropping it on the desktop, and then deleting the config folder all together, and dropping your input folder from the desktop back into the config folder that's created the next time you launch DCS. You'd only have to reconfigure your graphics settings this way. If none of the above gets you sorted I'd start digging deeper potential system troubleshooting. On another note, I'm curious, when you set 100% supersampling in SteamVR, what resolution is offered per eye? Just a personal curiosity if this number differs from the non +.
  18. @1440P without SSAA you're likely to run into a cpu bottleneck with a 2080 for the time being with DCS being DX11. But you'd probably be able to run SSAA 1.5 which ups the pixel count to 4k. As far as microstutters, you flying in clear skies when you're seeing them? Or is this in multiplayer somewhere? Hard to say what a new cpu/gpu would do for you without knowing your current build. Certain weather settings cause stutters even on my rig, where others run smooth as butter. And certain MP servers can sometimes have their own issues. So be careful throwing money at problems unless you already know you want this fancy new build Which in my case, I did. :)
  19. Budget GPU and 4K is a far stretch my friend. The top tier cards are intended for a 4K standard. Used 1080Ti still going for like $650US on Ebay. 2070 might be able to pull it off with some compromise in settings. 1080's are getting hard to find too. 1070 might work but you will likely see lowfps at low altitudes, depending on settings.
  20. You can lower the ingame resolution in system settings. It only effects what's shown on the monitor and above a certain resolution could effect performance. I keep mine on the lowest setting. The Pixel Density setting in the VR settings effects supersampling resolution in the headset. There's also a supersampling option in steamVR. You want to use one or the other not both. 1.0 Pixel density is native res, in steamvr 100% supersampling should = default res. Steam by default sets a supesrsampling value based on your hardware if you don't go set things up manually, which I recommend you do, if you didn't know to already :) It can be a little more generous than hardware can afford on auto settings, and you can set supersampling per application for titles that don't have their own vr pixel density settings.
  21. 2070 benchmarked just between the 1080 and the 1080Ti in rasterized performance. If resolution and screen door is a concern I recommend checking out the new Samsung Odyssey+ with it's anti screen door effect OLED's, as opposed to the rift. I don't have the Odyssey+ but I do very much enjoy my Odyssey. WMR controllers can lose tracking easier than a rift with 3 sensors or a vive, but for sitting down, in a racing or flight sim, no complaints whatsoever using WMR. Bit's also right. Helps to know what kind of system you're putting the GPU into.
  22. Good thinking on whoever first changed water settings as a workaround for now. Makes sense that I was only experiencing "flashes" of black flying over the coast. Still getting some stutters with cloud presets as well here.. will have to try adjusting my cloudy missions to dynamic weather and see if I notice a difference.
  23. navigate to the directory where dcs_updater.exe is located in command prompt (run as admin), and type without the quotes "dcs_updater.exe update"
  24. I think it would be difficult to use in DCS vs TrackIR or VR honestly.
  25. If you're in the US by chance and have the option of Best Buy - I'm pretty sure they take returns on anything as long as it's within 14 days. Double check that policy when it comes to video cards but if you have that option, get what you can afford and see how you like it. Or, if you absolutely decide you want a 2080Ti, EVGA has the 2080Ti Black edition listed for $999 @ the EVGA store, although it's not in stock yet. I wouldn't expect to be able to overclock the black edition though.
