  1. It's the Gazelle: https://imgur.com/RcYE1rh as seen in action here: Don't know which is better? A tease with no reveal, or, given the recent biplane brou-ha-ha a tease with a (to some, not all) disappointing reveal? Maybe it would be safer for devs not to tease, but just to straight-up inform with regular honest/sincere updates?
  2. Strangely enough, I cannot stand the index ministick on the TMWH. I find the thumbstick on my X-55 soooooooooo much better. And it has got nothing to do with the button quality, it is all about relative dexterity of the thumb in horizontal position vs. index finger in the curled over position. So much more control, comfort, precision, etc. Having said that, I've come to be adjusted enough to the TMWH throttle index stick so as not to worry about it too much, though I still prefer a thumb stick. All this goes to show: (1) different strokes for different folks (2) in practice, either works, so we can get used to whatever comes our way :)
  3. Got it, thanks! So one way to simulate air resupply is to spawn a resupply unit -- a truck or something --- in the vicinity of the helo after it has landed? I guess then it should be automatically destroyed/deactivated after some time to prevent infinite resupply? Also, I assume this will result in trucks popping into and out of existence ... makes for immersion breaking, but there's no way around that for the functionality that we need, I suppose. Additional question, do you know where can I look up re-arm/re-load times for units, such as infantry etc.
  4. My understanding is that ground units continuously rearm every 60 seconds as long as a suitable source (e.g. Ural 375 or M 818) is within 100 m. I want to know how to simulate air dropped resupply otherwise. E.g., when a helo lands in a trigger zone, automatically restore ground units in that zone to 100% capacity. Using MOOSE or other means. Can anyone help?
  5. Almost a week out from anticipated "availability" date (whether this is shipping as well is not clear) ... is this still looking like it is on track?
  6. Interesting. I thought this would have been documented somewhere, and I was one of the odd ones out that missed it! I've been digging through various navigation manuals, charts, etc., and have not seen this notation ... yet I vaguely remember seeing something like this in some sort of helicopter operations manual?
  7. THIS seems like an attractive supplemental solution. Many folks won't need it, but those who go offline for long enough or otherwise have unstable/unpredictable connections can use this. Maybe a single dongle or some other USB/hardware key for all modules (which would be updated when activating) might be more cost effective if feasible?
  8. Anyone know where I can read up more on the system of route planning used to mark the legs on the briefing maps: I think that, in the first example, I am seeing the [strikeout]speed[/strikeout] distance above and time (? I think?) below, followed by the heading, while in the second example it's just bearing above and [strikeout]speed[/strikeout] distance below. Is this standard notation in GA? Or just military? Or just Russian military aviation? Is it standardized convention as to what the number mean and how they are written? If so, why are these two maps different?
  9. No, but the Mi-8 can. And that is just one of the reasons that "The 8" is clearly the best module ever in the DCS series :D :D :D
  10. Confused the hell out of me. Thought my keyboard wasn't working. First thing I did when I figured it out was to rebind it! I guess different strokes for different folks ... :)
  11. Your work and efforts were greatly valued, and will be greatly missed. Thank you for many hours of immersion and fun! :worthy: :worthy: :worthy:
  12. +1
  13. Does the gun sight still go wriggly/wavy with ASW turned on in VR using Oculus Rift?
  14. I cannot remember the key combo either, but it is called "cargo view". It might be RALT-C? Either way, it works in the sense that it lets you look out and down ... but it is gut-wrenching in VR! And very disorienting! I need a whole lot more practice using this view because the few times I've tried it, I always end up crashing the helo :( :( So difficult to keep track of helicopter attitude and hold hover (or gentle descent) while looking out of the window like this.
  15. Personally, this makes the most sense to me. Verification during updates/repairs and/or available internet connection. No internet connection -- no problem: keep on using until you get a chance to update. Pirate copy -- you will never be able to update ever, enjoy your early access incomplete system, chump.
  16. Yes! This was the most exciting bit of news for me as well! Frankly, ANY helo will be welcome. Those jet jockeys do not realize it, but helos is where DCS both shines and offers something totally unique. Given that, ANY Western heavy attack would probably make the most sense in the "fleshing out the universe" perspective, to provide a very different perspective on the attack helo mission as offerered by the KA-50 and the (very welcome!) future Mi-24. Given the circumstances, that's either the AH-64x or AH-1x. I'll take two of either in a heartbeat. Also, from a sales perspective, I suspect the AH-64 will rival the F-18C in demand! I've said it before --- charge me $100 and I would still buy two if that will make it happen! But, failing that, the UH-60 would also be really, really, nice, as would the Chinook, the CH-53, etc. etc.

  19. Can we get official confirmation of this? Is the comment, to be read as an official statement that, "Dec 1 date has now been bumped; new date in Dec possible" or something else?
  20. Interesting! Thanks for sharing Vampyre and ZEEOH6!
  21. Have you tried this? Worked great when I used to run DCS on 4K. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=149832 https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1412130/
  22. My reading of the the OP is that: (1) he definitely strongly prefers a twist grip, but, as indicated by his consideration of a WH stick, (2) not having this is not a deal-breaker. And if this reading is correct, then, no, it does not all come down to "MUST HAVE A TWIST GRIP". So, thanks for the attempt to corral the discussion, but maybe check the parameters before enforcing them? And, to answer your further query ... - TMWH has no option for a twist grip, now or in the future. - I believe the VKB will support a twist grip adapter for their current series in the future. - VPC/VIRPIL's current offering does not support twist, but I believe the are working on a far-future space sim stick in a completely different line/model from the current series that might?
  23. Perhaps I was unclear in my writing, or the nuances of what I was communicating was lost on you. No, I do not work for them. No, I was not singing praises of the MCG Pro throttle or any other product that I do not have. No, I was not talking like I had one for months. What I was saying was: (a) If you are going VKB now, you want to get the full bells-and-whistles MCG Pro grip rather than the KG-12. (b) VKB as a company puts out high quality products, polished, finished, and working out of the box, hence the wait for the MCG Pro grip will be worth it [ <-- this latter clarification, which was not explicitly spelled out in my original post might have been where you lost the track?] © Yet, despite my statement in (a), I was pointing out if you fly a certain subgroup of modules offered by DCS (the majority, really, if you leave out the FC3 aircraft, and even then a substantial proportion), you don't need all those fancy buttons (d) Regardless, I would take a stick without the fancy buttons for the its more sophisticated internals in a heartbeat (because, see my experience in [c]). Is this clear enough for you to take things without wanting to know more details about my employment situation?
  24. Definitely, you want the MCG Pro grip if you are going with the VKB stick. The wait is worth it --- a polished, professional, working product out-of-the-box, no rough corners, no short-cuts, no compromises, no dings and scratches, no poorly machined parts, no back-and-forth with tech support to literally smooth out the awful rough edges, no need to sandpaper/grind down parts yourself etc. etc. But really in the mean time, while waiting for the MCG Pro, the KG-12 is also a polished professional product, working out of the box, and no slouch in the functionality department either, as I've discovered "making do" with the KG-12 grip for the last several months. "Making do"? Well, hardly, to be honest. I've been flying the most of the aircraft that interest me without missing/wanting/needing any of the extra buttons/switches, and in most cases have buttons/switches to spare: - Any WW2 bird, either in DCS (Spitfire, P-51, Dora, FW-190) or Il2 (too many to list!): trigger button fires, thumb button releases bombs/rockets, pinky for wheel brakes (when not mapped to rudder), 4-way unused mostly though in Spit I think I have it mapped to trim - UH-1H Huey: trigger button ICS, thumb button to weapon release, 4-way: trim, trim release (2 buttons spare) - Mi-8: as with Huey, except pinky for wheel brakes - Gazelle: trigger to fire, thumb unused, 4-way to trim, pinky for autohover - F-86: trigger to fire, everything else unmapped - Mig-15: as with F-86, except plus pinky for wheel brakes I am looking forward to the MCG Pro to pick up some of the little things that I currently click on the cockpit switches to do that can be a little awkward (e.g., switching the rotary to guns on the Mi-8, which currently needs me to flip to the co-pilot position), and, of course, to fly the more systems-heavy aircraft such as the F-18C or F-14. But honestly, the KG-12 is totally and fully functional for many, many, many, many, many, many, many hours of totally-immersive entertainment in the meantime. And, also honestly, I would take the VKB with 1 button over the WH (which I used to have) with x500 times the number of buttons any day!
  25. Thrustmaster was the standard only because it was the only sub-$1000 game in town. The new standards are already in place: VKB/VPC. Get a Warthog today, and forever have a back-of-your mind regret that you never got the best. Never even got a "great". Just an "OK-on-a-good-day". And definitely sucks, or, rather, sticks (heh! heh!), on a bad day. Get a VKB today and know that you got the best. No regrets, no "what if's" and "if only's", no second guessing. Fine artisan Swiss-watch like craftsmanship, yet robust enough to throw your crate all over the sky. A highly functional work of art. For the icing on the cake, get a monster tech mount to go with it.
