I agree. Which is why they need to bring in certain instruments from the Ka-52 that DO control 6 pylons. The night vision as well, as the Ka-50 needs to be able to fly and attack at night, along with the Ka-52. Of course. There are pics of the Ka-52 carrying them. Even the Apache and Cobra have had experiments carrying stingers and even Sidewinders. The big problem with larger Air to Air missiles, such as the R-73, is that their gasses can affect the engine intake. Igla and stinger don't seem to cause much problem ( hell, we're launching Kh-25's ). The chopper just needs the controls to launch them ( and control 6 pylons ).

That's simple. $$. And during this time of World Wide Crisis, DCS needs to keep it's head above the water. I'm all for the BS3, as I think the Russian's eventually went FAR beyond what we have in game. And if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it. You can even exclude certain planes / heli's off your server. DCS and their paying clients should be free to make and buy whatever they wish. DCS never promised anyone anything. As I have been told more than once. :D Still waiting for DCS to annouce DCS: Star Destroyer. But I'll be satisfied with playable ground troops, and realistic vehicle modules.

Now you know why we Shark pilots want Igla's. Get them before they get you.

Well, you could flip the laser from cone to "guided" mode, just like you do with the Kh-25. Can't really see rockets being laser guided though. They're more like a shotgun blast.

Or, we could do like others have suggested, and just make the Ka-50 at least near what the Final Product should have been. All we have to do is look at the Ka-52. It's basically the Final Ka-50 Production product, but with two seats and radar. Gen 3/4 FLIR in the Ka-50 is a no brainer. Already built as the Ka-50N.

I was being serious.:D LOAD FOR BEAR! This plane is slow and doesn't move very well. Offense is your best defense! Pack on six mavericks. You'll need 'em. Screw the wheels. You can always belly land. 500 pounders in a steep dive work well. Also, tanks have weak armor ( around 100mm RHA) on top. Gun just might just penetrate at a steep dive. Gun works great against APC's and low armour. Also, CBU's are expensive, but they work well against close together, mass targets.

Do you have trimmer set right in the settings? I believe there are 3 different settings for how the trimmer reacts. I use the "No Force Feedback / wait for joystick to center" setting. Not the exact name, but it's close to something like that. What this does ( and where I think you are having your "jump" problem) is that you hold down the trimmer, auto pilot goes off, you move to where you want to be and steady the craft, let off the trimmer. Autopilot will now kick back in, and reset to the point you are at now. There will be no jump, because the stick is now ignoring any commands you give until you center it again. Looks to me, the way you have it set, the stick is NOT ignoring commands, so the minute you let off the trimmer, the autopilot resets AND the stick ADDS IN the, say, 60% push you have going on the stick at that second, as well!. Big Jump! This is also why your getting that big jump on takeoff, because the minute you let off the trimmer, it's resetting AND adding in the forward down command of the stick.

Really don't care either way. Igla's will be a nice snap defense, especially for those of us with bad "joysticks" and xbox controllers. :clap_2:

From what I have read in the Russian forums (It's been a while), the new Shark is going to be the Ka-50ED, and ED is going to do some educated guess work at what a Modern Ka-50 would look like. Third rail ( why would you make two different wings for Ka-50 / Ka-52?), modern upgrades such as MWS, etc. Current Ka-50 has no defense against modern jets, not even A-10 / Su-25, not to mention it has no night-capabilities. Not something you want to fly on a modern battlefield.

On the Russian forums, they said they were going to add a third pylon to the wing, and you could carry up to 4 iglas.

A2A mode is only for Vikers (it just changes the fuse). In my experience, getting an EO lock on the target with the cannon does seem to calculate lead. I just get lock, get the targeted heli within the maximum cannon movement box on the hud, and fire. It should hit.

@JIMJAM - Yeah, use the HMS to get your cursor near the target, then fine tune with the slew. @BranchPrediction - Lol, yeah I play with an old RC controller. Use your mouse to look around with the HMS. Trim so you can take your hand off the controller. Dam HOTAS is freaking expensive!

I'm pretty sure the toggle used to be in the setup menu.

Set you fire authorization to manual, just to make sure it's not something with it. Make sure you don't have some weird switch binding causing interference. I know there is a switch on my controller that when set, stops me from looking around the cockpit. I can see my head trying to turn, but it sets it back immediately. Have to figure it out oneday. I think the keyboard bind for inner pylon is "u".

Yeah, I can't see paying much more than that for it. It will be the THIRD time I've paid for it.

At 3km, you want to use rockets, and that's max range for them. I wouldn't go past 1km with the gun, unless it's against a heli or such. The gun is made for close in work. The rockets are made for standoff to keep you out of gun range of armored vehicles and AAA.
