F-16C and GBU-10 Laser Guided Bomb release methods
Ignition replied to Top Jockey's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
LGB in DCS now have a flight profile like a JDAM. I remember they used to correct with "bang bang". I believe 13nm is very wrong for a paveway II. -

13nm for a GBU-10 doesn't sound right to me, maybe in DCS. A Paveway III maybe. -
F-16C and GBU-10 Laser Guided Bomb release methods
Ignition replied to Top Jockey's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Its also very easy in the F16, CCRP and DTOS. You can use the jhmcs or HUD to designate with DTOS. It's the most flexible mode. In the F16 you first need to think how you're going to attack and then where. That's the only (big) issue. -
Also in the mfd there's a white square indicating whre the tgp is looking. The closer to center the more downward it is looking and also it shows how far left or right. You can "search" then where it's looking just with the HMD looking outside the cockpit for a hollow green square.

cannot reproduce and missing track file GPS bombs not very accurate
Ignition replied to Kenan's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I've tested the GBU38 and I had good results. Yes some bombs miss but for 2-3m most and I believe this level of accuracy is right. Did you try it on Blue side or Red side, when on Red make sure unrestricted SATNAV is forced on. -
reported The F16 has almost the worst FLIR image
Ignition replied to Ignition's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I want to clarify just in case, I made this thread in may 2021 with the old FLIR and it had a bug. Depending on the time of day it was imposible to see anything. The new one is better but the AGC or is not working or it's useless. I usually go around -4 brightness +4 contrast -2L to the gain. -
I don't know irl, but in DCS if you're loaded it will be very difficult to refuel at that altitude and at that speed. Maybe if the plane is slick you can do it. I ALWAYS refuel with 4 missiles, 4 bombs/maverick, 2 fuel tanks, TGP, ALQ-184, and HTS.
-
I think its just practice sadly. I can do it "normaly" now but it took me A LOT of practice. I usually do AAR at 20000ft 300 CAS. I move slowly to the boom and zoom in "considerably" to see the tanker lights. When you are low and pull the stick you should also add a little throttle. You need to anticipate to the movements so you don't put yourself on PIO. From what you said it looks like you're making the corrections once you see the movement intstead of anticipate to them. Also When you make AAR with very low fuel state you will notice you need to add more and more power to stay with the tanker, specially with external fuel tanks. The F16 refuels very very fast in about 3 minutes.

Combined Arms module and Apache Hind !!
Ignition replied to Rick50's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Combined Arms is really bad but the idea good. We play a dynamic campaign 20 vs 20 and after a few minutes you start to hate CA. The pathfinding and in general the AI is very bad. The F10 for de tactical commander is missing a lot of functionalities and is lacking. CA is very expensive, I don't recommend buying it at all. On the other side, for the people flying is much better to engage human controled vehicles yes. -
Try to fly without the controls window open, you will enjoy the helicopters much more. Try it. Don't be so dependant on the position of the controls.

I HAVE A DUDE TO USE VOR AND TACAN APPROACH WITH A 10 C
Ignition replied to mosqui's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
I'm sure In real life when in combat AND in need, a lot of the standard procedures aren't used. -
Will it be possible to change the coordinates shown on the TGP to MGRS on the future?

Questions about tgp on moving targets and Jtac info
Ignition replied to oznckr's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
1. Thats a script which doesn't show elevation, it should tell you for precision. 2. What I usually do to attack convoys is use GMT in FCR (its a cheat right now), TGP follows radar, when I'm close and see the target I just use TGP and forget about FCR. Sometimes I make a mark just in case I lose the position. Mavericks on PRE and boresighted follow the TGP and I use manual since auto takes forever to lock, just lock and fire. If you want the box in the hud to update change point to area. -
It's not a major problem when you start cold (unless you forgot to change the code before you are ready to taxi which is 90% of the time for me), but when you land and rearm it doesn't have any sense, and it has been like this since years? while some aircraft can change the code magically from the cockpit. I forgot about the new rearm window, I'll check it again. I remember seen the news but really didn't pay much attention since it was really green in its development.
-
The thing is I alway used auto, the stabilator controls are not even mapped on my HOTAS. I don't understand. I will fly a little more and pay attention to the stabilator changes. NVM, I think I found the problem. NOE was on, I don't remeber turning it on though. I was flying with a frined as CPG maybe he turned it on?. I tested it and it has the same behavior. thanks.
-
I sometimes experience an issue with the auto stabilator when going below 80 knots the nose of the aircraft violently pitchs downward, NOE was off. I couldn't see how many degrees changed but it almost killed me 4 times in the same mission.
-
So, we can load in a few seconds 4 GBU-12 with the engines on, but to change the codes of the bombs we need to shut down the aircraft. Doesn't make much sense to me. Why the bombs can't be loaded WITH the new codes?
-
You need to bring it to the center. I'm trying to understand why someone would need this feature, maybe you're changing speed very fast, like 120 to 0 in 4 seconds? I can't understand because if you're flying at 120 and expect to hover pressing a trim reset at that speed it will only get much much worse.
-
Will be posible to share SPI/Mark points over DL with other L16 aircrafts? (F-16 - F-18) I can see F-18 SPI over DL but Its imposible to store them, plus the cross on the HSD of the TGP is gone.
-
It's difficult because we can't feel the cyclic as irl. I just try to fly as relaxed as I can so I make trim inputs as I need it without worrying of the controls position. With the rudders I know if I increase torque I need to increase left rudder or right rudder if I decrease it and try to keep the heading looking outside. I use the control overlay when I take off, so I can set the rudder to a take off position. I flew the Ka-50, Mi-8, UH-1H and now the AH-64D and I never had the need for a trim reset, but I see its a very demanded feature.
-
Sorry if it sounded like that, it wasn't my intention. English is not my language and I may not choose the best words. Also, I'm not the master pilot of the AH-64D, I still have some issues with changes in torque.
-
I'm not against a trim reset, but its clearly not necessary. You just need to fly the aircraft and make the corrections you need to fly the helicopter. From 120 knots to a hover I make around 4 to 5 trim imputs without even notice. I don't even fly with the controls window. Try to make corrections as you need it without thinking about it. I think you will fly much more relaxed.
-
For me its much more unstable in yaw than the Ka-50.
-
I also never used it. I just fly the thing and trim as I need it.
