I also think it is not usual to drop them IRL unless you really need to. Thats why I was asking cheers

Why sould it matter from which tank you drain fuel? Neither total weight nor air resistance is affected by the choice of a specific fuel tank.
-
Happened to me as well yesterday. This bug is not always present, however. To me, it seems to be a cooling issue since if you activate the IR cooling switch, it works after some minutes. However, it should cool down automatically.
-
Because it's probably easier to list the systems that are not classified than those that are. Furthermore: it is not even fully developed IRL, how should a sim finish first? Maybe in 30 Years

DDI Font too far forward Hi I'm not sure whether this is a bug or not but i think it is one. I noticed that the writings on the DDI (at least on the left one, the right i didn't check but i guess it happend there too) are too far to the front. They appear not at the actual green CRT screen but on the glass which protects the green CRT screen. When you lean far forward and look at it, you notice it. I attached a screenshot to illustrate this. I think the writings should be displayed on the green surface and not on the glass in front of it. It is certainly a minor bug, though cheers

With TDC down (not aft!) You can do a spot search where the TDC currently is. If the radar finds anything, it will be locked. With sensor select right (provided that the radar is already the active sensor), the contact next to the TDC will be locked

As the Stennis is a Nimitz Class Carrier, it should be (according to Wikipedia) 9 degrees to the left with respect to the steaming direction. The Stennis' course should be known from rither the briefing or directly out of the mission editor. IDK if it is stated by the ATC during the approach

What to Expect in the Next Hornet Open Beta Update (11/21?)
Moafuleum replied to Fropa's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Probably the next task is the IR Mav. It is already in the Hornet (maybe by accident?) but not fully employable. -
Maybe it is part of a test build that accidently made it into the OB release build?
-
https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3671393&postcount=82 maybe it is already adressed

Why don't you just rebind them in the control options?
-
This is exactly what I was asking. Is this intended and if yes, then why are there actually two different sound files for this? I mean, what is the point of having two different versions? If it was just for telling the pilot "Hey you do the fire test wrong" it would be more appropriate to just let Betty say just that :smartass:
-
@BuzzU: Yes it does. Yo can also see it in the video, i linked in the original post. @walleye: i understand. I usually also do it like you. As i said: i discovered it by accident. Please have a look at the video. There you can see clearly what i mean Edit: the whole thread is not about claiming, that it does not work if it is carried out correctly.
-
Initially i posted it into the bug section. It also had another title. I wanted to point out/ask, if there is a special purpose for a different word ordering when done incorrectly or if this is intended at all or a bug. Now it looks like i don't know how to run a fire test correctly and like if i was talking weird things about Betty's wording. (The latter one may still be true however :D , again, it is just a detail but i am interested in the origin.) I am also confused :dunno:
-
@mahuja: I'm sorry, i don't get what you want to tell me. It is not about distinguishing the left engine from the right by having two different word orderings. As you can hear in the video, during the first test (which i did as it should be done) the order of the words are the same for both engines. @walleye: I'm aware of this. I did this to show both cases to have a reference. The first one serves as the reference of a correct fire test, the second one showed the case of how not doing it. That Betty is reset by resetting the battery switch was intended in this case. PS: @whoever renamed the thread: I am aware of the correct procedure, I discovered this while accidently doing it wrong. In the correct procedure (the first eun i did), Betty says ENFINE FIRE LEFT ENGINE FIRE LEFT, ENGINE FIRE RIGHT ENGINE FIRE RIGHT. When doing it the wrong way, Betty says ENGINE FIRE LEFT ENGINE FIRE LEFT [then i "forced" the break by releasing the switch, and then continued] ENGINE RIGHT FIRE ENGINE RIGHT FIRE All i want to say is that in the latter case, the words "FIRE" and "RIGHT" are exchanged, compared to the correct case
-
Hi I noticed that Betty says a diffenrent thing when the fire test routine is not done completely (meaning: holding down the switch until the whole thing is done) but just flicking the switch shortly and then continuing after a pause. My observation: The first ENGINE FIRE LEFT, ENGINE FIRE LEFT is said correctly. After this, it stops because the switch was released. After pressing (and holding) the switch again, it continues with ENGINE RIGHT FIRE, ENGINE RIGHT FIRE (instead of ENGINE FIRE RIGHT ENGINE FIRE RIGHT). Then the routine continues until it is finished. Thus, the ordering of the words is different. I am aware that this is, if at all, an absolutely low priority bug :D But i was wondering why in just this situation, the wording is different. I made a video for demonstration.

About the latter: There was even a thread about this behavior but i forgot the title. Do you use your breaks after landing? In RL, you must not use your brakes but apply full thrust after touchdown. The tension of the wire pulls you back a little and the wire detaches from the hook. If you brake, you don't move back and the wire stays attached to the hook. Not even ground crew can help you then, because of the risk of injuries when the wire is still under tension.

GTX 1070Ti still sufficient?
Moafuleum replied to Moafuleum's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks Guys! That's good to hear. That may be worth considering. However, without doubting your experience, I read different opinions on that. Luckily, increasing RAM later is not that of a problem. Thanks -
Hi As many others here, I'm planning to build a new rig since up to now I play on my Laptop, using 12GB Ram and a GTX 765m, and it is unplayable. It crashed after minutes and I play at the lowest settings. With the upcoming Tomcat, I need something stronger. That said, I want to point out that I can't just afford a 2000€ rig. I'm heading towards a maximum of 1300€. Now, since the new RTX cards are out and first benchmarks were done, i come to the conclusion that these cards are not really a 'best-bang-for-the-buck' alternative, I'm looking for. Parallel to the release of the new cards, the 10X0 series becomes cheaper which brings me to the consideration of buying a 1070Ti. It is about 430€ and just a little bit slower than a 1080 but 100€ cheaper (at least). Can anyone point out his experience with this card? I would use it in combination with a 2600x processor and 16GM 3200MHz Ram. Also worth noticing is that I currently have only a 1080p monitor which I'm planning to use for quite a while. Hence, the card does not need to have a fance 4K performance or even VR. Although I play in Full HD, DCS should look pretty decent und run fluently. Do you think, a 1070Ti is enough for my purpose? Or do you have an advce, I should consider? thanks for your opinion!

Maybe it is related to the control bindings issue in OB
-
SSD is obligatory. I'm goint to use a AMD 2600X and 16GB Ram for now but if necessary, i stock up. I'm just not willing to spend 800€ for a graphics card
-
I am not planning to use VR the next time but have to go with a monitor at 1080p resolution. Will i be good in the future with a 1070Ti ? cheers

Got a solid lock, target within Rne, Sparrow damn ready on the rail and then... You tab out :D
-
Yes. When the HUD is caged, the "usual" velocity vector doesn't point in the right direction. Thus, a ghost VV is needed to indicate the correct direction.

Is the Missile shot upon you? The AIM120 has a Datalink capability between the launching aircraft and itself that can provide the missile with target information until the missile turns on its own seeker. This information is obtaines by the launching aircraft by illuminating the target with its ownship radar
