I couldn't test it by myself so far but i remember there was a bug about being active off the rails everytime. Can you report about a possible fix in the update? thanks
-
Maybe tacview is giving you ground distance and the radar is providing slant range? Depending on the altitude difference, this could be quite significant. A second thought is that the AWG-9 has some relative uncertainty in determining the distance. In this case it is about 8% which seems to be quite a lot though

[NOT A CAMPAIGN ERROR] FA18 Campaign
Moafuleum replied to autracer's topic in Missions and Campaigns
It is not a problem of the campaign but of the INS system which is going to be implemented. So far there was a placeholder system. Without proper alignment, you get strange output. Is has been reported numerous times already -
I have no info on that but i assume it is because the jet was designed for the navy with the ATFLIR in mind. Only because the USMC also equipped it with the Litening, the software didn't change...

F-14 Crashes, not going to report this to bugs
Moafuleum replied to Cunning_Fox's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
On my side it is very playable. I have to say i experience barely any crash. As others have already said, maybe the problem is on your side then. With this post you want us to see what exactly? That HB is a filthy company and only takes your money without delivering and you help us to realize this? Please submit a proper bug report and everyone will be willing to help you that also you can enjoy it and i am sure HB is also interested in helping you. -
There is a turning knob on the right side for all external lights. A button on the throttle like in the Hornet or Hog is not present

Yes i figured this out as well quite often. Compared to the F-18 it carries only ~2000 pounds (vs. ~11000). Sure, the engines and aircraft are certainly not very comparable but still... Especially during the available BFM campaign, within which you have to fly from the base to the target area, fight against three oponents and return, fuel management is decisive over life and death as during combat you are tempted to fly with afterburner all the time For such missions, it requires precise calculations of fuel flow rates and discipline, otherwise, as you found out already, you will find yourselves gliding..and not for long :D

They could also open the pre-order window for one week only...right before the release. Do you think that people won't complain then? I can already hear "noo!! I need time to decide! They want to rush me into a decision! Jadajadajada.." They can write what they want, people will always complain... Call me a fanboi but you can read by yourself how people are worried about short pre-order periods in this very thread..now they also are worried about long periods? However, I will preorder a week before release if i like it and don't lose my nerves in the meantime.
-
Why are you in a hurry? It is going to be available for pre-order for months. It is anyway not available for playing until end of autumn.

I guess because ACM modes can aquire a lock much further away than the vidual ID distance in DCS. Without zoom, it can be very difficult to see the target a/c type even within 1 nm away.

No wave off. I went straight in at the first try. I tried to reproduce it today but was unable to do so. I noticed that after one of my traps, there was nothing indicated on the trap sheet at all although I recovered successfully. HB knows this better than anyone else i guess, but could it be related to the issue of occasionally non-functional tracks?

Wrong renditioon of haze close to canopy-edge
Moafuleum replied to Wali763's topic in Bugs and Problems
Reported already multiple times. However, I was told that it is a DCS bug -
No active pause. As said, everything i did was restarting the mission with the keyboard shortcut rather than exit and restart it from the menu. The trap sheet of the first run looked fine (although even worse from a flying perspective :D ) I will try to test it further today as i wonted to do some traps anyway. Then i will report further

reported earlier Heatblur from engines distorts HUD.
Moafuleum replied to REDEYE_CVW-66's topic in Object Bugs
This is a very old bug already and known for a very long time. In fact it was inherited from the 1.5.xxx days. I reported it back in these days but was told to wait for 2.5 as it is not worth fixing it because the release of 2.5 was imminent. Frankly, it is still not fixed yet.. The bug is annoying especially while dogfighting when the enemy is close and in front of you since, as a consequence, also the gunsight on the HUD is blurred -
Hi I noticed a strange trajectory after i landed on the carrier on the kneeboard trap sheet. I played the PG instant action mission for case 1 recovery. You find a screenshot and a trk file attached (i hope the track file works, especially because I reflew the mission, using Ctrl+R which messed up tracks in the past already) PS: yes i know that it is still not supposed to look like this in terms of flying skills, still i believe beside of my nonpresent skills there is maybe some bug there :D trapsheettrack.trk
-
You could just test it by switching off an engine in flight. Have fun during landing :music_whistling:

Yes. But obviously not by just using wingtip stations

Did I miss something? Or why don't i get this thread?

The thing is that you actually don't know if a Phoenix is fired upon you (in some cases) since the attacking radar doesn't have you locked in STT but only TWS which just looks like a normal nails signal on the RWR. The guidance is in most cases only via INS/datalink and the missile only goes active in the last phase. You can fire the Phoenix in STT mode as well. Then the enemy should notice though

I would also be interested in this. Probably it has been answered before as said but going through >200 pages is hard and a search didn't yield much. Is it necessary to tab out of DCS into SRS GUI and rebind everything when i changbe the AC type? Or is SCS able to readout the internal DCS keybindings for each A/C type and radio? (And then directly use this for PPT?) thanks Edit: if not, will it be possible to have some kind of a load/save preset option for keybindings in the future? I don't want to be unthankful btw :) , it is already an amazing addition to DCS world!

The occurrence of overwing vapor does not only depend on the pulled g's but also on the environmental conditions like humidity, air pressure, etc...

You can actually hit the reset button as often as you like, you don't break anything or reset anything to a state where something doesn't work anymore. The reset button only sets the FCS into a state where everything should work as intended. In caseyou have any doubts, press it like a madman

What you do that alerts another plane to your presence...
Moafuleum replied to fitness88's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Thanks deadpool for the detailed description. However I was thinking that in STT the radar is anyway only focused on one target with using continuous wave transmission?
