Is this actualy a thing? Aircraft HUD usually project the picture into infinity, that's the reason why e.g. the velocity vector always points towards the same point regardless of your view position. Shouldn't this also be the case for the target diamond? The pilot needs to adjust seat height such that he can see the HUD. Once this is achieved the exact head position should not alter the view, otherwise half of the HUD is useless as all indicators only pointed towards the right spot in an unknown head position. Edit: this is only true in the limit of very distant objects where distance between head and HUD is negligible compared to HUD-object distances. For most cases this is fulfilled. At least this does not explain large deviations i think.

I guess thats because IRL under such conditions the procedure is unambiguous: EJECT The chance of surviving an ejection is far higher than doing a belly landing of a damaged plane half full of fuel and two hot engines. Landing with wheels down on a not-paved runway is suicide anyway.

The next question to me is: how can you tell him to stop look outside and again focus on the displays?

To revive this thread from yesterday's night, i'll start Preferred roles: Pilot Looking for: RIO Are you interested in joining a community? Maybe Game Type: PVP/PVE/A2G/A2A Practice Maps: Caucasus/Nevada/Persian Gulf Experience level: I know what the buttons do but didn't soak up the manual like a sponge. So, i mght not be aware of some peculiarities. I manage to bring the cat down in Case 1 but maybe in a real life environment, after my first pass the LSO makes sure that i will fly cargo planes full of rubber dog sh*t out of hong kong for the rest of my life :D Describe yourself in 3 words: 27yrs, AUT, english&german, fun>strict protocol but i take it serious..i'm not a troll, yes i'm dangerous: more than three words :P Availability in ZULU Time: 6pm - 10pm (i.e. CEST 8pm - 12pm) Additional notes: Actually i wouldn't care too much I hopped into the RIO cockpit once in a while as well. I think such things can be discussed, I'm not so strict on those things and otherwise i will never lern and do that thing anyway. And hey, it's about fun, right? Actively Searching

Great idea! If i may suggest a litte additional field in the template like: Request still open/already found a mate... something like this that people see who is still available/still searching or already found a buddy.

[NO BUG] Frames Good, Stutters Serious
Moafuleum replied to CHINA_HAT_FWD's topic in Bugs and Problems
What is your pre load radius and your visibility range? You have a notebook GPU with 4GB of VRAM. I suspect this to be the limiting factor. Do you have DCS on an SSD? Every stutter corresponds to a small loading. This es either due to high loading latencies or because the (V)RAM is already full. -
So what? :D just kidding ;)

Please see the attached screenshots. The dust on the persian gulf map is obstructing the texture of this kind of fabric sealing (??) at the transition between the cockpit frame and the glass. The dust on the map is anyway bugged since with dust on, the water is not visible at all and the ships are floating in the air, but thats obviously ED's problem.

Dumb question but did you run out of storage space? Other question. Do you use any mods?

Yes, DCS World needs to update also this time. After the update, the new module will be available in the module manager. You will be prompted to install it and then, the download of the actual module starts. Make sure to operate the open beta branch as it is only released in OB today. You can easily switch to open beta from stabe by using either the command line or SkateZilla's tool

It is also available on spotify Awesome stuff!

Is the Steam release date on March 13th as well?
Moafuleum replied to MobiSev's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yes, as always. -
what should mission editors set our TACAN stations to now?
Moafuleum replied to Zyll's topic in Mission Editor
You don't choose the antenna by yourself. The hornet has two antennas installed, one on the bottom and one on top. Both are used simultaneously without further action. However, the upper one has a frequency filter which the lower does not have (or at least not the same one). Hence, if you tune in a station which corresponds to a frequency that it filtered out by the upper antenna, only the lower one remains for reeceiving the signal, resulting in a lower signal intensiry and the station is seen from not so far away. Disclaimer: that's how understood it. I don't have any sources.. -
I think it is due to the fact that when you sit in a cockpit, you are elevated some feet. You have a different view. I think your brain gives you a different perception of things because in real life you are not 3 meters tall but yoi fool the brain by sitting higher.

Every module is compatible with every map. In case there are no missions for you, which you like, you can still create scenarios by yourself with the mission editor.

@al At least low earth orbit should be feasable :D

Th F18 also has it. But i think it is just not implemented yet?

Im sorry, i didn't play your track but do your leading edge flaps actually deploy or is it just displayed on the FCS page? From your screenshot it is not visible since it is from behind.
