  1. Sigh, it actually worked sort-of better a while back. Besides I didn't say it was perfect we just have to wait and see what DCS does with multicrew. And then,.. I duno.
  2. You should be able to take a person for a flight, AFAIK there is only restrictions on what the other person can do, like not take the cyclic,.. Besides no one seems to want to get in with me when I'm flying. :D As I understand it, multicrew is still broken in DCS ATM so they are holding off a decision on multicrew until DCS gets that sorted.
  3. Can you not choose the direction when you place the aircraft on the map using the heading compass?
  4. Well DCS is currently undergoing some internal development, kinda has been since 2.5.x and with that comes some performance issues, one of those is currently DCS is pretty much limited to 2 cores, there is further development in the pipeline. I haven't used a 2D screen for DCS for a long time but see similar issues in VR we just need to be patient for the time being. Also what are you settings and display resolution perhaps someone could help if they had similar setups with settings and expectations for DCS. :)
  5. Yes it makes big difference having a collective for helicopters, here are some earlier prototype tests for my sim pit . :D Some picks on collective development, Still a WIP. The other gotcha for a cyclic is that most of the cheaper (if not more expensive units) is that the controllers incorporate a "dead spot" in the center of the action, you need to look at 3rd party USB interfaces then the fun begins. ;)
  6. Yep bits of the aircraft shadow disappear from time to time especially in VR when following your shadows along the ground. :D
  7. Umm interesting RBS in Gazelle does, well as far as the sim flies it feels like the the helo just dropped right side down rather then a lift to the left. :D
  8. Aside from SVTONY's observation what are we going to use for well propulsion? :D
  9. Another material I have used for "friction" is felt pads bunnies has a selection of the stuff. An early prototype here,.. Admittedly I have a better solution for that application now. Probably our summers got the better of the original. :D
  10. Have you considered your hardware always good to make sure it's going to work okay. Rift is likely best value for money with the least demand on hardware, highr res is always better but that comes at the expense of requiring higher end hardware. One sensor works fine for DCS assuming a sitting position mine sits on top of my PC speaker works a treat so you don't have to set up a room scale situation unless your going to slay dragons between using DCS. :D
  11. I had several intermittent DCS crashes and the odd BSOD's in 2.5.3.x and initially a crash in 2.5.4 so far after updating my nvidia drivers to 417 I haven't more crashes. Seeing other users on this forum also having "random" crashes although usually caused by a GPF (access violation) but the crash logs were pointing to various different dll's i.e. no consistency.
  12. Have you checked the option in the VR settings to keep the mouse in game screen? Tick the cursor confined to game window option.
  13. So this is moooving along then, great to see. :D
  14. Yes my first "hotrod" Diamond Stealth64. Interesting I had/have some oddities with Rift and DCS 2.5.4 mostly to do with image quality but I think I have it sorted. For now at least.
  15. It's not out yet so we don't know, even so that doesn't seem right for me in MP scenarios sounded okay. :)
  16. "Alt" and "Tab" till your back. But yeah as Burn said run full screen.
  17. Agree however from my observations there isn't that much VM/SSD/network stuff happening during play when frame rates drop, with Rift I mainly see GPU hit the wall at 100% and or CPU hit the wall @ around 30% for me now running 2.5.4 OB. TBH I think the Win10/Rift/maybe even DCS* etc is now better at shearing out the multicore usage. *Perhaps by default from say Oculus app updates?
  18. If the Rift was on sale with a reasonable saving it will be fine, I do like the idea of HTC Vive Pro, however that increased 1440*1600 per eye takes some GPU/CPU horse power under DCS, even Rift at 1080*1200 per eye requires some heavy lifting to keep VR smooth albeit at 45FPS. Besides Primax is looking interesting. Hahaha,:D Even the IBM XT/AT compatibles had slot in Graphics Adapters with a thriving Graphics Adapter market. :)
  19. Question? Is the slightly longer times for NVMe because of PCIe bus overhead or lanes assigned? I realise even SATA uses a subset of the PCIe system but NVMe slots in at PCIe level as best I understand it.
  20. I'm trying to do at least a repeatable set of test they are time consuming but it's at least kinda repeatable and at best only indicative. One gotcha is the difference in CPU and GPU workload which varies from one situation position to another relative to built up areas (doesn't seem to have to be built up area in PG map?) the other observation is the variance of CPU and GPU usage of the different maps. Settings and such also need to be constant between tests to be meaningful some maps have varying sensitivity to even small changes in PD value being one of those settings for VR. Long story short I have done a series of tests with my current 1080Ti and will repeat these with the same settings as best I can when I have my damned expensive new 2080Ti. My basic testing here. Hopefully the GPU usage should be significantly lower with the 2080Ti meaning I can ramp up settings in theory at least. But yes some method of getting some performance metrics would be good even just to use to see what level of performance we can expect in game under "standard settings and maps" or point out where we have deficiencies in our PC's this tweak and test across all maps is time consuming and as I say at best only indicative.
  21. Great points.
  22. glasögon nuff said,.. :D  VR works fine without em. ;)
  23. Plus the developers get to try new stuff out, just saying.
  24. Rift is fine and likely best value for money what you first need to consider is your hardware at the moment DCS VR requires a fair amount of CPU and GPU number crunching this will improve with future improvements in DCS code. Higher resolution HMD's typically require even more CPU/GPU number crunching power. The Rift image quality in DCS is good, it looks to me a bit cartoony but the spatial perception you get from VR is brilliant especially if you fly helicopters it is a real game changer. So if you don't mind what are your system specs? Oh and if you haven't worked it out VR all the way.
  25. Actually a very relevant point, I know it's only a sim however I find there is a lot of information to be gained from listening to the rotor sound and the turbine sound when flying helicopters.
