You don't hear it from the cockpit unless the canopy is open. At least not in the many modules I've flown.

f18c taxi radius too large; nm, found HIGH GAIN turn
PawlaczGMD replied to Evil.Bonsai's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
You need to press/hold the nosewheel steering button to enter high gain mode. You can make very tight turns in the Hornet. -
Update the DLSS preset used by DCS to remove ghosting
PawlaczGMD replied to sleighzy's topic in General Bugs
Is there something similar that can be done for FSR (on AMD GPUs)? -
Why is the F-5 PvP history? Because the F-4 is better under certain conditions? The F-5 is still a good match for cold war redfor planes, and people still fly it on the servers.

Mission 2 strike did not proceed
PawlaczGMD replied to PawlaczGMD's topic in F-16C Weasels over Syria Campaign
Got it, I had to miss the message about the space bar, I was expecting the F10 menu option appearing. -
@BIGNEWY was this entry in the F-16 update log: Fixed. Maverick Boresight using an aircraft causes drifts/offset. supposed to fix the issue in this thread? Because it didn't. Maverick in pre mode is still offset up to hundreds of feet from where the TGP is pointing.

Bold Cheetah - A 13 Mission DCS F/A-18 Campaign by Sedlo
PawlaczGMD replied to Sedlo's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I also suspected this, but didn't do proper testing. The burble effect seems to be much too strong in some conditions. It's definitely bugged if it makes ACLS crash. it would be good if you made a separate Hornet bug report if you have tracks to show this.- 423 replies

I used to have the same impression, but then I simply learned to be gentle on the stick in this jet. You can pull 9G no problem if you don't snap roll. The issue with the F-5 was always that it takes very little stick movement at high speed to generate 12G and snap the wings. Or you could use deeper curves, or saturate pitch. I used to break my wings, but I learned the quirks of this jet, and never do that anymore.

I killed 3x Sa8 as they popped up. Still, the strike did not proceed. Warden was asking me for sitrep 3 times, but there was no option to reply. Then he gave up and cancelled. I was on Warden's freq. Is this intentional? Did I miss some targets? I did not manage to find the firecans, but the mission really didn't make it clear that the strike would not proceed without them.

Bold Cheetah - A 13 Mission DCS F/A-18 Campaign by Sedlo
PawlaczGMD replied to Sedlo's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I've also had issue with ACLS in bad weather. It broke my gear a couple of times despite a good approach and good weight. It is best to disconnect it on final and fly manually in my opinion, it will be good for your skill too. Your speed should depend on your weight only. When you're on glideslope (fixed descent rate) and on "speed" (fixed AoA), your indicated airspeed will depend on weight and wind only. AFAIK it should not really be possible to change it, the autopilot will get you on AoA with trim, and set the throttle to be on glideslope, it should not be able to change your speed independently from these parameters. But I might be wrong.- 423 replies

Yeah, also noticed this. Same on takeoff. Very heavy yaw/roll oscillations, didn't happen even once before this patch. There was no wake turbulence for sure. Please look into this.

Just one criticism of the F-5 remaster: -the caution lights and radar panel lights were not upgraded. They look quite rough, it was OK in the old cockpit, but stands out in the remastered one. The lights are too low resolution, and the lettering is too thick, adjacent symbols blend together, and texturing is mediocre. Just dated overall. As this is definitely within the scope of the upgrade, I'd like to see it revisited. Then I would basically be 100% happy with the purchase.

Some quick feedback on the F-5 upgrade: overall it looks great, I think it was worth $10. Some minor criticism: -the reflection on instrument windows are a bit too much. They look good, but not really realistic. It could be tuned down just a bit. -the caution lights and radar panel lights were not upgraded. From a Pimax Crystal user - it currently looks nothing like this. A fighter is virtually invisible from 4 nm. You could maybe spot it as something that looks like a single pixel if you know exactly where to look against clear sky, otherwise forget it. But keep in mind that a single pixel in the Crystal is virtually unresolvable. And there is absolutely no aspect/angle information to be gained at this range.

Yeah, that's concerning, I've found similar figures for terminal velocity. If bombs in DCS break Mach 1, how could bombing be remotely realistic? For a sanity check, if there was no drag, an object would have to freefall for around 35 seconds to reach sea level Mach 1. It would take 20 000 ft. So can it reach Mach 1.17 from 32k ft with drag? Uhh, it feels wrong, but it's not impossible at first glance.
-
can you compare jettisoning the mk82 vs dropping it on a target? I assume the physics of a normal drop are correct to at least roughly match real ballistics and depression angles.
-
Yeah, that's definitely wrong. Dumb bombs terminal velocity is subsonic. Empty fuel tanks would be slower than that.

Sorry, I didn't get to mission 9 as the campaign is bugged atm, so I don't know why you would want a HAD lock without a missile. But I would suggest posting this as a Viper bug, the campaign maker can't influence if your sensor will lock onto a target or not. If the target is emitting and you can't lock it, it's a module issue/bug.

I've seen others complain about this, but it works for me, and there shouldn't be a way for you to mess this up. You need to power the HTS up with the cheek pylon switches on the RHS, and have INS aligned, and it should just work. If you just want to pass the mission, you can always use the HARM directly with the WPN page...

Note that there are special trim options for helicopters - as most people have a stick with springs, which is not realistic for helicopters. Pressing trim will by default set the new cyclic center to the current stick position - but then you have to immediately recenter the stick, or it will apply a double deflection.

BTW this is a good business model, people should be happy to pay a mere $10 for an upgrade. If we don't pay anything, and the base game is free, there is little reason for ED to update these old, more niche modules.

That would be cool, it's probably worth $10 anyway. But I didn't see it mentioned in the news advertising this upgrade.

This is great, I will be getting the upgrade. I wish they improved the radar modelling though.

not sure, maybe try to go into "modules" and disable it, then re-enable?

This is what popped up for me when a free trial of a module expired. Could it be some issue with license transfer from steam?
