Book Chapters and Mission Alignment
squid509 replied to LumberJack's topic in F/A-18C Raven One Campaign
all i found was a note in the mission briefing in game that said mission 2 happens after chapter 5 i now dear not look ahead in the briefings -
odd v sync should prevent tearing but you lose frames for it
-
the track file dont always sync well none to those hit? form what i saw you should of had some kills and Mk82 vs MBT is a bit tricky because you need hit dead on miss by a foot or two and your not going to kill it same for GBU-12 and GBU-38, its a quark of the DCS damage model try agents some trucks
-
are you on WiFi? try an Ethernet cable it worked for other ppl

the mission makers can use scripting voodoo to make things like that happen. ask them about it see if there is any thing in the briefing i play some silly fun maps where two teams take off on opposite side of the same runway guns only thunder dome fight there is a 10nm circle that if you leave you explode
-
i few things you might want to add to the guide is in the briefings you mention event 1 and 2 i know it means the launch and recovery cyclical for the day others might not know that. if i notice any other navy jargon not explained ill post it here book tie in i did not know how close the tie in is in till i read the breading for mission 2 saying it happens after chapter 5 i would place a recommendation / spoiler warning some where so we can read the novel in pace with he campaign something like read up to ch5 play mission 2 to then read ch 6 and 8 dont read 9 in till you finish mission 3

[CANNOT REPRODUCE] Trim and Autopilot not working
squid509 replied to putze4711's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
works the same for me post a track of this problem -
here is a video of me seting up a quick and dirty mission you can see how to set up the tacan and ICLS in the advance action tab your not for the tacan your not setting the flight you are. you need to set it the unit ID # of the carrier you telling the mission editor what unit the tacan signal is pointing to / centered on yep its redundant the way ED dose it having to go to a tab that is for only one unit and tell it use the only unit here to set it, probably this because how the mission editor passes code around under the hood

this is a bad habit IMO. way too little fuel you should plan to be on the ground before 3k fuel you should be using the bingo and FPAS home fuel Waring as a backup you should not be using this a crutch to avoid keeping track of how much fuel you have and fuel planing for how much do you need to get home

true the assumption i made was based on passed experience and information given. more info would better prepare everyone for the mission dont get me wrong if i had no respect for new users i would of told him to "get gud", RTFM, and google a guide, not spend 2hr of my flight time to train him. he had no ground school knowledge of the basics and had to adjust the lesson plan many times on the fly. this was more like i told him the reduce throttle to get on the 3deg glide slope and he reply's with what is that? now how do i explain 3deg glide slope and have him fly it in like 15sec sounds like my day job. except i would have to find all the errors and give the briefing ideally i would give the pilots the briefing package a day or two early for them to review, ask questions, find errors. the before flight briefing should be at least in my mind should be roll call make sure every one is there, general overview, go over every ones responsibility's, mission priority's, contingency actions. are you trying to cram all that in the in game briefing?
-
this is a bug in the DCS world side of thing it could happen on other mission as well keep and on the distance to the TACAN station if it is not changing it bugged you can get normally working signal by turning off and back on the tacan on the UFC
-
he must if missed all the bug fixes, new content for existing modules, and the new campaign in the patch notes we got yesterday

wouldst the INS get its initial potion form the GPS? the only sim i fly that has a detailed INS sys is the PMDG 747 and you could punch in what ever you want for initial potion or copy paste the GPS potion are you saying in ground alignment in the F18 should not be using the GPS as initial potion?

F18 speedbrake messed up in OB
squid509 replied to Gripen 4-1's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
your binding is _AFU_ you have both the extend button and retract button bound to extend the speed brake and to retract the speed brake you have to hold right shift and back on the switch see attached pic to see what it should look like -
short answer you need more practice can you land straight in with out any problems? flying the pattern can be tricky if you have not yet masters on speed flying get straight in landing down cold first then move to the more complex pattern turns form your point 4a-c looks like you need to work on your throttle control suggestion for you start a free flight mission where its only you on the map and nothing is going to brother you make one in the ME if you need to 1. take off get about 3000 -5000 ft AGL <250knots lower the landing gear flaps to FULL trim for on speed AOA (8.1 e bracket centered on VV) keep it there for a bit flying level, dont use up or down stick only use the throttle to keep the VV on the horizon line only use left and right stick to keep you level you should only need very very little left and right stick to keep level things to note. your jets reaction to changes in throttle are going to be delayed reducing throttle will drop you nose and VV this change will be delayed slightly but faster the increasing throttle increasing throttle will raze your nose and VV this has a long delay form when you move the throttle and your jet responds you need to learn how it will respond with practice you can try to bump the throttle a bit higher than you think you need the back to where you had it for a faster response but this needs to be practiced there is no sweet spot for the throttle you can just leave it for 15min you will all ways be moving the throttle learn to make small constant corrections now when you can fly level on speed in a straight line like a pro add some turns in the mix turn left 90deg try to stay level and go back to strait and level flight then turn right 90deg back to level flight things to note when you bank you nose is going to droop you need to add throttle to compensate the response is going to be delayed add some throttle before you start to make the turn and adjust as needed to maintain level flight when you straiten out your nose is going to rise you need to reduce throttle to stay level reduce throttle before stating out and adjust throttle as needed to stay level you are not going to learn this in 5min you need to practice this a lot when you can fly this left right turns level like a pro then add in the more complex pattern its ok to extend you down wind as much as you need a tight 4 man over head break may look supper cool if done right but none of the guys doing it got there in a day

are you going to get a raven one sub-forum like your other campaigns do?
-
when you switch rolls or disconnect DCS will delete what ever you where flying so that pilot standing on the ground in bad guy land went poof and the beacon he had on him

got a screen shot?

 welp time to get on the waiting list for an index

you could try you get the free SU-25 and TF-51D (P-51 with no guns) do expect to crank up the graphic setting and get hi frames. the biggest problem you will have is the RAM DCS rely likes to have 32GB in your PC but i will run on 16GB you may have issues if there a lot of spawned in the map

the only time i wanted to be flying a C-some # or KC-some # in DCS is in large multiplayer missions where to win you need to call a C-130 via F10 menu to the base we want to capture. sine the AI follows a static flight plan it will herp-A-derp into a RED barCAP or AAR just so i can call out when im going to make a turn and not hard bank or zig-zag to get on course or announce im low on fuel no more for you instead of crash diving to the nearest air field while some one is connected. there is a time an place for cargo flying but not in DCS. and if you want to call me a hater i do own the PMDG 747 and flown in the vatsim cross the pond event all full ATC for 10hr YAY!!!
