Buccaneer by the BANA Project
Robert31178 replied to tombeckett2285's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I was under the impression that the last official word we received was that the project had been handed over to someone in the TU-22 side of things? Obviously that project is still being worked on, so if this project is still alive we will most likely be waiting quite some time for news. -
All of us understand that the passing of Gos is more than just a matter of us missing out on having the plane sooner. The community is deeply saddened by his unexpected passing, and I can't imagine what it must be like for his family, and also for the devs who worked closely with him. We'll happily do what we can to help in any fashion, and patiently wait for any news, we are owed nothing. Thank you Merker! ~Rob

I understand that the specific models are not "Vietnam" per say, but even though we have the -3 and the bis they are still Vietnam era planes to me, having both been designed in that era and then simply upgraded. That'd be like saying the Phantom isn't Vietnam era simply because it's a German F or something.

Rook...... Man I love watching myself and others in DCS, the graphics are just fantastic, even on my average rig. I have had more, er, "mishaps" in this game then I ever did in Arma or IL2 1946....and I played IL2 for like 13 years. Man, you are NOT alone!! ~Rob

Oy, where's the teef??
-
Strut, are you going to release these separately or as a pack again?
-
Thanks Bo!! It's an honor to have you weigh in since I have known your work for years and years! Project is on a very short break, my mentor, CTC, had to tackle a short project for a squadron; he's mostly complete so we'll be back at it very soon. SPEC - haven't started on it yet, but we'll be looking over everyone's work to see how this is done. Very intimidating, the spec layer bit!! Decals - yes, it would appear that there were a few dozen liveries that had easier markings to copy....unfortunately we didn't know that until we got to the nose decal. The mesh layer that Skate made is a HUGE help for making new stuff, like getting the wingtip decals in the correct spot. We've noticed that the panels do slightly different stuff when in game viewing it vs what we see in PS. Trial and error and work put in will get that straight for us. Patch / Logo - I found a hi-rez decal, but it's a later version so the cat is at a different angle, lightning bolts shorter, so we more or less have to make a new one. Spent a few hours and tried a few different approaches the other night and I think we arrived at how we are going to tackle it. I'm on a short vacation, we'll get back to work on it towards the end of this coming week. Thanks for everyone's comments so far, all are welcome! Rick, again, my apologies for adding your SPEC layer and we will not release it with your work included. ~Rob

Looking for the author of this mission, listed as P.King on ED: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3083357/ Would like to see if we can get this one fixed, on both versions when you try to open it in ME it shows a small list of mods required: -AT Infantry -Gizzy Converts -Tents UH-1 LZ WASP Did you build this with mods turned on or something? There's been a couple of posts asking for clarification or a fix for this. Looks like it could be a really cool mission, but no one can use it!!! ~Rob

I hate to restsr a really old thread, but is tjere a way to buy a module as a gift with the new security stuff?
-
Understood!! It will not be released with your spec, I was unaware that this was a problem. Thank you for your input, both of you. ~Rob

So I'm sure all of the skinners and modders are used to my name now in this sub forum from commenting and asking for small projects, etc. Well, I decided to pay back. I've never skinned, never been into skinning, but am really into aviation. The Sabre is a beaut!! So with the inspiration of folks updating their older projects - Strut, Rick, ChSubZero, and BoNiddle; the help with understanding the .lua file and layout - Skatezilla & Automan, and help from a very patient and knowledgeable mentor in DCAF's head skin artist CTC, who's fabulous custom unit Harrier can be seen on post #255, page 26 of the Harrier pics page, I decided to take on a project to bring forth to the community. These are very early work pics. Special thanks to the following - Rick for the SPEC layer from his factory fresh Sabre livery, Skate for all of the work he's put into making a very detailed and easy to use template, and lastly CTC for all of his time and patience, this project would not have even have started if he wasn't willing to help teach me the ways. When released I want to release the historical skin as it is depicted by Wings Palette, and also a squadron "blank" with the FU bort numbers in front of the horizontal stabs being able to be custom for co-op/squad/flight/element use. I took the existing stencils and changed the colors of them to very light grey where the black stripes on the tail made them invisible, and I will have to move the US Air Force up higher, as well as change the font, to make it more accurate for this depiction. I know that the nose decal needs a ton of work, and also I know that the decals overall need to be.....um, well I'm actually not sure how to make them look like paint yet lol. Help!! Anyways, the WIP. Please comment, and don't hold back, I can only learn by hearing from y'all!! I did see that there were 334th skins with blanks for the bort numbers, I have them, and it's what I am after for some applications. I am very into historical skins, personal skins, specific skins, and sometimes I see one and I'm like "man, as a generic skin it'd be sweet for co-ops or AI flights!". I've never been a guy to really ask for personal stuff, but here recently I've been "bad" lol.....I really am enjoying the skins all of you are making, I love them!! ~Rob

Ok, thanks for the info!!
-
Oh nice!!! AK Sabres are nice looking. Cali ANG also has some pretty trick Sabre liveries.
-
I know it wouldn't be historically accurate, but a lot if these skins you guys are making would be nice to have with some stock bort number usage either or both of the tail positions for some squadron online co-op play or to dr AI planes in missions!!
-
Woooooot!!!!!! My favorite one from your series! Thanks Strut!!!
-
He had a brown out, no doubt
-
I received some external help from McFLurry. Between him and Dart we were able to get the Huey to do like it is supposed to, well, as far as us non aviators know lol.... thanks you guys for helping!!! ~Rob

Fixed!! Again, thanks again very much for the help Fries!! %5Bimg%5Dhttps%3A//i.imgur.com/MMTmmlU.jpg[/img]

Silly question, but is this template the same as for the upcoming release? ~Rob
-
Ok, thanks Fries for the push!!! ~Rob

Quick question - a friend of mine is making a skin for the unit I am in and we are noticing a slight mismatch between the font he is trying to use, AmarilloUSAF from Photoshop. It looks great except for when the numbers he is making are displayed next to the bort numbers near the base of the vertical stab. I'm not sure who my quesiton goes to lol, the template makers or RAZBAM, but here it is - what font is used for those BORT numbers? Also, what color swatch? As you can see in the pic we are close, but just not quite right. %5Bimg%5Dhttps%3A//i.imgur.com/O0DHJ2L.jpg[/img] Any help is much appreciate!!! ~Rob

Right, I know they go to ED first, but per the dates listed there have been 02 updates to the Gazelle in within the span of a week. Are they both getting pushed through from ED at the same time, because how I am looking at it both are dated after the most recent update from ED.
