LF advice on HOT-3 optimum firing range
Robert31178 replied to Backtrap's topic in Polychop-Simulations
Also the Gazelle's HOT missile's range is less than that of any of the laser guided TOWs on the armored vehicles in DCS, or so it would seem. I always get whacked by them. ~Rob -
Strut, they're done lol...you posted them once with the old .lua, and then again with corrected .lua's!! I just never saw the corrected uploads before I started down this road. If I'm wrong on this then, uh, I did the work for you and will happily send them along to you!! ~Rob

"The Tomcat is growing on me man, was never a fan of it till now." What??? Are you from Libya or something?? Teehee.....
-
Yep, so that worked, and then I was scouring the ED userfiles and found that the author of the Aussie pack had in fact updated it at one point, I just never saw it. So I did waste about an hour redoing skins that had already been redone lol, but I was able to convert a lot of other ones over for my own use, and I know understand about how the skins are set up for Sabre, what lines in NP++ are pointing to what file in the skin folder, and also learned how to use Notepad++ You guys are awesome, thank you very much for the help!!! ~Rob

Is there a way to get a no markings blank of this lovely skin?

Sushy, that literally had nothing to do with this thread, but thank you.......auto, I'll try it out this evening. thank you for your help too!! ~Rob

[Request] German Navy helicopters Sea Lynx and Sea King
Robert31178 replied to Volator's topic in UH-1H
I'm with Rudi, is there a link for the "done" skins? ~Rob -
I hate to be the "request pest", but is there any way to get a handful of skins, like a 4 plane pack, so that a few members can fly the same livery but not the same exact plane? This skin is simply incredible, I usually am a US skin snob, but I love this one!!!

Looks INCREDIBLE!

I still do not see the picture, but I am VERY familiar with your work in IL2 1946 lol.......kowing you are making it is good neough for me!!!

Just an update/follow up, thank you both for the help!! I was able to have fix some of the skins already I was looking to get right. Skate, I found another post where someone was asking you to fix one of the skinpacks I specifically was trying to tackle, the BoNiddle 334th/335th/336th pack. Using your fixed .lua file helped me really understand exactly what each little part did in the file, thank you for that. I have made a few of them with bort numbers useable on specific parts of the planes if the skin is able to support it without looking goofy. I have another issue I am trying to run down - one of the skins is a bare metal Aussie skin and it has a blank layer somewhere I think, maybe, heck I dunno. Here's what I am seeing..... %5Bimg%5Dhttps%3A//i.imgur.com/YRRB4zn.png[/img] %5Bimg%5Dhttps%3A//i.imgur.com/NQjg2yD.png[/img] Now, in the file itself I noticed there is only the f-86f_main_DIF (named just as I typed it), there is no Spec file or the main_NM file. Here is the description.lua. Also, the skin only shows up under USA, not UK or Aussie per the countries entry: livery = { {"F86_MAIN", 0,"f-86f_main_DIF", false}, {"F86_MAIN", 3,"empty", false}, {"F86_BORT NUMBER_01", 3,"empty", false}, -- Fuselage Bort Number {"F86_BORT NUMBER_10", 3,"empty", false}, -- Fuselage Bort Number {"F86_BORT NUMBER_100", 3,"empty", false}, -- Fuselage Bort Number {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_01", 3, "empty", false}, -- Tail Bort Number {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_10", 3, "empty", false}, -- Tail Bort Number {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_100", 3, "empty", false}, -- Tail Bort Number {"F86_BORT NUMBER_01", 0,"f-86f_main_DIF", false}, --Bort Number Diffuse Texture, Make it the Same as Your F86_MAIN {"F86_BORT NUMBER_10", 0,"f-86f_main_DIF", false}, --Bort Number Diffuse Texture, Make it the Same as Your F86_MAIN {"F86_BORT NUMBER_100", 0,"f-86f_main_DIF", false}, --Bort Number Diffuse Texture, Make it the Same as Your F86_MAIN {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_01", 0,"f-86f_main_DIF", false}, --Bort Number Diffuse Texture, Make it the Same as Your F86_MAIN {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_10", 0,"f-86f_main_DIF", false}, --Bort Number Diffuse Texture, Make it the Same as Your F86_MAIN {"F86_BORT_NUMBER_TAIL_100", 0,"f-86f_main_DIF", false}, --Bort Number Diffuse Texture, Make it the Same as Your F86_MAIN {"Fuel_Tank_120gal", 0, "fuel_tank_120gal", false}, } countries = {"USA", "UK","Australia",} I've zipped it up and posted it on my dropbox, would you be able to take a look at it and see if you can figure this one out? I hate to ask for this much help, I generally like to get educated and go on my own to be "minimum impact", but I'm lost on this one. https://www.dropbox.com/s/n3l8awv1a65kfkc/Aust%20F-86F%20Roundel%20Only.rar?dl=0

2.5 settings and Nvidia Control Panel
Robert31178 replied to JughedJones's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
+1 for the screen shot - I see the above one but I don't see the same settings in my Nvidia control panel under either tab, this is only like my 3rd time getting into the Nvidia control panel lol......kinda handicapped! I will turn on the FXAA for now and see what happens - what specifically should the setting be? A list for global and the DCS program settings would be super helpful actually! ~Rob -
Ok, thank you very much both of you. I will tackle one I guess just to see if I can actually teach myself how to do it, and if it isn't a gigantic pain in the bum I might keep going....provided I can figure it out lol ~Rob

I am running into a problem with F-86 Sabre skins and have no idea how to solve it. Roughly half of the skins I install have numbers aft near the elevators, and then also a three digit code mirroring the numbers aft in HUGE numbers on the nose just aft of the gun ports. Many times it totally ruins the nice looking skin that an author has worked on so hard. All of the numbers that have the aluminum background are what I am talking about for these skins, all from different authors. I would love to use them, however.....?? Anyone know how I can fix this? ~Rob %5Bimg%5Dhttps%3A//i.imgur.com/QgR4LK5.png[/img]

2.5 settings and Nvidia Control Panel
Robert31178 replied to JughedJones's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I do have those settings set in game. I have a nice set up that I think is balanced and runs pretty smooth, even in an area clogged with trees; turning off MSAA and setting my shadows to flat were exactly what did it for me. I'm looking for a fine tuning set up for the Nvidia control panel at this point! I'd like to be able to hold the in game settings I have at a steady 60fps. Currently I seems to drop into the 40's around heavy trees and towns but it still runs smooth as silk, so my settings aren't crazy nice, but they look good enough to me. The other thing is I have my preload turned up for this teting, but I really keep it turned way down on ops as I flew Huey for my unit, and down low and slow there is no need for crazy view distance or preload. -
You talking about flex mounts for the cheek guns?

Pitch and yaw on gazelle is "rolling over"
Robert31178 replied to AtomMrav's topic in Bugs and Problems
I haven't noticed the rolling unless I m making inputs to the collective, but the pitching....ugh right? What I have found is that if I excessively click the trim while maintaining level flight it eventually will set and the thing will fly straight. Not ideal, but it works. I also make sure to deselect/reset my trim before making any control input from there as the in game helicopter does some really weird sh*t if I don't. Actually, I pretty much treat it as an autopilot lol..... -
I agree with that, it would be super duper cool if we could outfit the Huey with just the mounts for door guns and save a couple hundred pounds of weight, especially since the EGT stuff is real fun now.......

There's some things though in real life that we miss here. The obvious one is, of course, the fact that it's an image and not real life, but aside from that you don't get the little things we've all read about, like sunlight glints off of nearly invisible planes, or the slight movement that catches a fighter pilot's eye when he is hunting. Something else - how long have you been playing? I know the graphics are "antique" compared to DCS, but hear me out: I play IL2 1946 series for YEARS, well over a decade. It took me some time, again years, before I could consistently spot other aircraft while hunting on servers. I struggle in DCS to spot airplanes even when I know they are there!! 2.5 cleaned it up a little for me, and if I am lower I can see a speck reasonable well, but heck I lose my flight lead constantly lol....I know that once my eye gets trained to spot DCS stuff I'll be fine, just like I was in IL2 after a long while.

Is there a barrier end mod or update coming? Man that'd be cool for some scenario stuff eh?

2.5 settings and Nvidia Control Panel
Robert31178 replied to JughedJones's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
What about Nvidia settings for DCS in general? I have yet to set mine up properly. Had an offer for help a few months ago but no real help after contact. My rig: i7 4790k 4.0 ghz, Zoltac GTX 980 4G, 16gb RAM with a solid state hard drive. So far all I can tell is that any MSAA kills my frames and creates a stutter. I have been using the same area of the map for testing whilst flying Viggen for all of my test hops so that I can gauge my results effectively. I would really like some help on this please!! ~Rob
