  1. I'm reading "Wolfpack Warriors: The Story of WWII's Most Successful Fighter Outfit" by Roger Freeman, getting all knowledged up on Jug ops in anticipation of the release of this plane. I'll probably reread "Hell Hawks" by Robert Dorr and Thomas David Jones. Hell Hawks was a slow starter but turned out to be a fantastic book, and Wolfpack Warriors has been a really nice read so far, I have very little of it left to finish.
  2. Thanks Jar, really nice of you to share this with the community. Looks wicked awesome!!!!! ~Rob
  3. Hi!! Looking for a custom skin for the UH-1H to mirror the Seahawks of HS-3. Below is a link to a pic of what I am looking for. Anyone interested in tackling this one? https://goo.gl/images/Ggbw3t Thanks in advance!!! ~Rob
  4. Damn Skate, can't wait to make it home to DL these and fly my Hornet for the first time!!!
  5. I like Pukin' Dogs or Aardvarks. Not sure why, just always have lol.....
  6. Question, will BST be working on this plane now as well?
  7. I know it's hard to keep up with the release of PG map and Hornet, along with today's news of the BST/ED merger, but....... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!! Loves me some Scooter, best one-holer the Navy and Marines ever had!!!!
  8. I would happily help you, but I am unavailable until June 14th. If no o e has come around to help by then please let me know, I am more than happy to help out!
  9. I was resistant before, but I'm thinking Tornado or Vark would be cool. On another thought line though we have two aircraft from the same era, might be time for HB to branch out to either a helicopter or a warbird? They've done well by us so far, be cool to see what they could do along those lines!
  10. I remember going to visit my grandparents in Iowa and seeing the Air Guard A-7's at the airfield in Des Moines. Always been a SLUF fan.
  11. Oh. Dang, but I understand. It's hands down my favorite warbird so I am VERY excited abkut this release.
  12. How did you already pay for it????
  13. Per Nick Gray you won't see full rudder deflection in a warbird at speed because the forces applied to the rudder externally are more than any pilot can overcome with his legs. This will only change when you lose an elevevator - 50% less surface allows you to put more deflection in.
  14. Ah yes, the "S.U.A.T.M.M" memes have begun......
  15. To me it looks like it's marketing. If you give early access to the guys who make regular videos, have regular followers then your product gets more exposure. More hype for the train. Nothing wrong with thst approach, and for me personally it's a nice "tide me over" to watch all of the videos made by these guys. If I have to wait for a final month then the vids are a nice way to pass it! Tell me Jar and company shouldn't get early access? Made a PLAT cam mod and has shown more than a few Hornet unit upstarts how to properly use the plane? Tell me the "1 Min DCS" guy, Crash Laobi, who's video series has helped so many people quickly enjoy DCS products, doesn't deserve a whack at it, and maybe as a byproduct some 1 Min vids for this plane come out?? There's a reason why the people who received Hornet got it early. It wouldn't surprise me to see it happen again the same way, and I'm ok with that!
  16. So.......how is it???
  17. Don't forget that the highest scoring US ace over Europe earned all of his kills in a Jug - Francis Gabreski You can read more about him and some others on the skins page I brought back to life for the Jug.
  18. Whoa killer, I realize that it doesn't makes sense when we talk about it, but if folks who flew it say there is something to it then there is. People like you and I get to talk about it here, and as I said I haven't read of anyone trying to do in in a DF, but it gets talked about by actual P-38 pilots, so......??
  19. There is a reason for it. You can asymetrically control a P-38 in a DF and it would maybe be useful. I will also say that I have read it's something that could be done that most of the tight turning, 109 beating low altitude dogfights I read first hand accounts of they did not talk about assymetrical engine management, and they were able to low speed, hard turn 109's into the ground.
  20. It was however possible with the real Skyraider lol.......also F-8 and F-4 https://theaviationist.com/2014/02/19/us-navy-fighters-folded-wings/
  21. Shoot, there are a bazillion articles on this and have been for a long time. I started flying Forgotten Battles in 2003 and read up to support my "fun zone" of flying US planes only online. Start with SimHQ and YouTube, easy places to find articles relavant to this.
  22. Hot damn, dive brakes then????
  23. So.......Canadian Hornet skins posted in the screenshots thread. As they say, kwitcherbitchin'.....
  24. When I see a P-38 I'll invest in a throttle that supports two engines. My CH gear has been just fine for me to run the F-5, can't imagine I'd have issues with the Hornet.
