  1. Does asking the RIO to set the radio to a preset not work or was this a later add-on to the F14 that has yet to be added to AIRIO? Someone asked this on another thread and the radio preset function definitely appears on the RIO radial menu. I'm not a Tomcat user yet, but I understand another F14 trial/sale might be on the way when ED's is done, so you never know. :)
  2. The on-speed angle of attack is set so that its relationship of the hook to the main wheels is just right to catch a wire. Anything away from that AoA is likely to either cause a bolter, due to the hook bouncing over the wire, or worse, catching a wire when your main wheels are still in the air. I'm not sure the latter has been modelled, possibly because my flying isn't accurate enough to do it, but I suspect it would just result in a bolter, as it currently stands in DCS.
  3. From the draft manual, linked in the mini-updates thread, i can see no mention of any switch between departure and recovery states, but exactly what goes on behind the enhanced radio menu isn't really covered. You can issue an inbound request and be directed to a holding stack, so you might expect the hold to come to an end when any queued departures have taken place. However, I couldn't see any mention of radio comms to request a departure, so the logic would have to be interesting to allow some behind-the-scenes calculations that would schedule departures and recoveries intelligently. That would be particularly important for multiplayer, although it would also probably be required for AI in SP.
  4. First thing to check might be your bindings. When you get a new aircraft, DCS often, very "helpfully", adds default assignments to each of your controllers, for the main control axes. this means that you might have your rudder pedals assigned to pitch, as well as the joystick, for example. To check, just go to the adjust controls screen, via the ESC menu in your spitfire module. In the dropdown box in the top left of the screen, select axis commands. You should have a column for each of your controllers and there should be rows for each of the axis commands, such as pitch, roll, rudders, throttle etc. Check that you only have one controller mapping for each of the control axes. If not, select the unwanted ones, in turn, and press the CLEAR buitton at the bottom of the screen, until the unwanted mappings are all gone.
  5. I've read that book and the very first verse, written in double-sized and bold text is "Nolite audire peritorum qui non". Maybe Google translate will be of some use. :)
  6. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3336084&postcount=102, a Christmas present from @_schepper_, in 2017. As an excerpt from @Hollywood_315's VAICOM Pro manual, it has been converted to a kneeboard, to help VP users to remember the commands, but the commands, in the "flight" category in this case, might still be of use to non-Vaicom users. If you want to have a more immersive communications experience, you might want to get Vaicom Pro to go with the kneeboard. The dictionary has since grown somewhat, with F14B commands being added, at least.
  7. Like the throttle, unless I'm doing it wrong, the Hornet appears to require that you constantly need to make control adjustments. The professionals make everything look easy. :)
  8. Could the gun be using the CCIP point of another AG weapon, which is loaded on the aircraft, active or inactive? I've had this one intermittently, but computers don't tend to behave like that without reason, so there must be something causing it. I don't think it's the effect of the wind.
  9. Where is there an ED answer in that thread?
  10. https://youtu.be/Xso1mMo_1Mg, an excellent video by @Lex Talionis, will be worth watching. I was suffering from the same issue and this covers a very useful practice routine that helped a lot.
  11. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3794952&postcount=125 This video from the mini update thread, also covers the options for the control of the slew, as the WH HOTAS, for one, doesn't like the slew button to be held at the same time as slewing around with the analog stick. The latter half of the video shows the MavFs being deployed
  12. "approaching to refuel" might bring more success with the tanker.

    TX6 No PTT

So the button was being seen as pressed and never released? changing that would do it, as i am fairly sure that the commands are only passed to DCS when the button has been lifted. Good to see you have it sorted.

    TX6 No PTT

Do you have one or more of the Garmin modules activated, as it looks like they may conflict with Vaicom?
  15. 1. HARM are designed to disrput/kill the source of SAM missiles, not to kill the missiles themselves, although missiles in flight might lose targeting once their source has been destroyed/disrupted. You will need to rely on evasive manoeuvres and countermeasures to avoid any incoming SAMs. 2. Bankler's Case I recovery trainer mission is an absolute must for practising Case I recoveries. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=221412 3. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=212096 should answer your question on the difference between the recovery types.

    TX6 No PTT

You still need to map the TX6 PTT to one of your controller buttons, not forgetting that you need to map it to both the press and release rows in the profile. I'm using it for my additional commands in a daisy-chained profile, as it doesn't require the aircraft's radios to be activated.
  17. It'll probably be sorted as part of the damage modelling that I understand is currently underway. My Hornet tends to lose its wings quite a lot and watching it fall to the ground takes up more of my time than I'd like. There is also a very small bit of the wing that carries on being drawn after the wings have departed. My idea for a best fix is to stop losing my wings. :)
  18. It must just be the AUX PTT then, which definitely works in a cold and dark aircraft, when the others don't
  19. Which is mainly why I've stuck with my office chair. I might check out those lockable wheels though. It was actually my racing wheel stand that I modified with the cord loop, as i must get a bit more excited on the brake pedal in a racing car than in an aircraft.
  20. That'll do it and i suspect that INT, as well as AUX, does not require your aircraft's radios to be activated, to allow you to do things like firing off the cheat startup and asking the chief to remove the wheel-chocks.
  21. Not at my sim pc atm, but the profile edit screen has a button at the bottom that combines most of the commands and pressing that will make it look like the manual.
  22. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=242134 by @lefuneste01 has a great function that allows radio messages, including JTAC 9-lines to be left on screen
  23. Done and thanks again.
  24. Until then or otherwise, check out https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=151478&page=26 The newsletter content is posted there every week and usually on a Friday.
  25. Thanks for that and i found the LATLN option, on the Aircraft subpage of Data, but it appears to default to the option I don't want. I use the JTAC LAT/LONG mod, which would appear to require LATLN SEC to be selected. Do you know of a way to change the default or will i just need to remember to change it every time i do a JTAC mission? I don't suppose that would be a problem, but my JDAMs might go a bit astray if i forget to change the option. :) Thanks again
