  1. All three are important when discussing intercepts. Navy pilots/wso learn to work with target aspect instead of aspect angle. The F/A-18 does display TA but not AA. Lateral separation translates to turning room at the merge. A pilot may elect to have a certain amount of lateral separation to do a stern conversation. The formula is the same you use to set the correct antenna angle in the vertical. E.g. you get told a contact is at 10 NM range and 10.000ft above you. You can calculate that you need to point the antenna 10° up. You can use the same formula in other plains than the vertical. HCA can be used to discuss gaining and reducing lateral separation. E.g. with HCA 180 you will keep the current lateral separation.
  2. Feature suggestion @BuzyBee it would be nice to have the option to show the heading crossing angle, lateral separation and target aspect between two selected objects. HCA - number of degrees between the objects' headings TA - TA = 180 - AA LS - LS = aspect * slant range * 100 (whichever aspect is less than 90°)
  3. Awesome stuff, good to pass the time while downloading the update! Just today talked about old tech and what you had to do to get a program running with DOS.
  4. Too bad. Yeah, guns can't be simulated. There is a script for the missiles. I wish ED would make training rounds that don't launch visually and don't do damage but trigger actions and can be reviewed in tacview. (Laser tag!)
  5. I hope you don't have to shoot down your own people in this campaign like in the other aggressor campaigns. That is strange to me.
  6. That's not even the main issue. You can eyeball how much lead you need to give the missile. The main issue is that the steering dot is superimposed on the target which makes a visual ID of a target in the HUD a nightmare. In the past it had some logic that wasn't correct but at least it wasn't blocking the most important LOS at all times.
  7. We will be able to select the FLIR from the AZ/EL display directly, showing the FLIR instead of the AZ/EL is not a bad decision. Performance can be a problem for some though.
  8. Can't reproduce in latest beta anymore either.
  9. When a donor updates the track with a new ID the radar looses the STT. Reproduce: Mission with player and awacs on blue. Spawn an aircraft on red later. STT the spawned aircraft before donor makes ID change. Can't provide a track, DCS crashes on exit.
  10. Can confirm the issue.

  12. In Auto there was a bug if the designation was made with the HUD. WYPT Designate worked ok. Don't know if that got fixed.
  13. ED changed the logic at some point, making the changes obsolete. But the changes will not affect AB. You may want to test out what works best for you.
  14. Hey there, may you point me to the original post you mention? Maybe we get the L&S symbol in a future update.
  15. I recently had the problem that tacview on server side only recorded the first mission started on a dedicated server. If you change the mission without a restart, the follow on mission won't be recorded.
  16. This used to be true for other radar as well in 2.55 including HQ-7, Rapier and Hawk CSAR.
  17. Did you get any feedback on this? I don't really know if my point got across. I'll try again. No lock tone in STT, seeker slaved to radar LOS: If you cage the seeker, it will stay at it's current attitude, e.g. 20° right off boresight and level. You can roll the aircraft left and it will stay in its current attitude, now pointing up. If you then reselect the AIM-9, the seeker returns to boresight. With lock tone in STT, seeker slaved to radar LOS: If you cage the seeker, it will move to boresight correctly. I could not find any documentation saying that the seeker should go to almost random attitudes. It's either slaved to the radar or at boresight. I added another track. 9Xseekerboresight_2.trk
  18. Yeah, JHMCS is off completely.
  19. Not implemented yet.
  20. The HSI will show a grid with the grid IDs around a reference position. We will be using the TDC to "click" on a grid and then enter the numbers.
  21. It used to be different if I remember correctly. It also seems somewhat strange if the seeker looks at a random position and outside of HUD FOV. Also, I did not check if it's only the HUD symbol that is doing that and the seeker is actually bore sighted.
  22. The AIM-9X does not boresight when caged without a lock tone. It stays in the current attitude instead. If there is a lock tone it does boresight. 9Xseekerboresight.trk
  23. All the lights a tanker has to improve seeing the fuselage and refueling systems are not present on tankers in DCS. They should be the brightest thing up there, in DCS they are the darkest.
