Way back in the mid-70's my parents and I would make occasional trips to Spokane WA (USA). On a couple of those we stopped at Northtown Mall while there was a miltary display being...well, displayed. I remember an M110 (113? The APC with aluminum sides) as well as an F-4 Phantom. They allowed us kids to climb in, under, and around the displays (parents were probably too cool to do it)...I distinctly remember looking at the grease trails under the F-4! I asked one of the people there how they got the plane in to the parking lot...he pointed to a semi with a flat bed trailer. Don't know if that's how they did it, but still was a cool experience. I'm hoping someone can recall any similar display, because it couldn't have just been in Spokane...

I think more FC style modules would be cool
VZ_342 replied to aidanw2000's topic in DCS Core Wish List
It seems to me FC3 planes are keyboard only, and others are clickable cockpit? Are there other differences? Don't all "clickable cockpit" aircraft also have keyboard control options? -
(Гугл переводчик) Original: Money talks. I don't like it, but it is what it is. Feel free to make a mod of English only missions to translate them to Russian. That's what we've done to Russian aircraft, modify cockpits to English. I agree, one should support ones own countrymen first. (Google translate)

I got the same thing after buying Nevada...took awhile (several hours) before DM (DCS 2.0) detected any of my modules. I figured it's just a delay between the computers.

^^^I'm curious about this too. The A-4 was legendary in its simplicity, low cost, and relatively small size. Are we there yet?
-
I can hear it now..."YEEHAW!! Jesters dead, Jester's dead!" Can't wait!!

Don't worry boys, I know I'd buy both.

So I'm flying the SU-25A and coming into the target area (Kobuleti) I scan the ground for the three US AAA (M113 APC with a Vulcan mounted on it) I've placed in a triangle pattern around the airport. Of course, I know their approximate locations, but as I'm diving or nearing them in level flight (500m agl) I am unable to find them. I have zoom on max and scanning like my life depends on it (which it does), but my Threat Warning always sounds, I start "jinking", visually follow the tracers back to...green ground...I can see the fuel trucks nearby, but those damnable little APC's I just cannot see! Any tips or suggestions? Ive tried skirting the area, but I still have to get close and end up being shot down. TIA :pilotfly: :helpsmilie:

With head tracking software you can lean to one side and flip the switches...or there is is setting which hides/unhides the control stick.

Oh ok. To be clear, I don't have the blocked out letters but I do have the "opening canopy frame leaves the glass behind" problem as in the first post.
-
I noticed this canopy effect last night. I don't mind dowloading 1.5.6 as a "hanger queen", but was wondering if you knew the name of the program? Only word processing program I use is Open Office (and Notepad ++)...

I'm still learning. I can avoid "controlled flight into terrain" but having a hexk of a time with guns and bombs. Practice*3 Aerobatics is a close second, I like sightseeing and pushing the a/c to its limits. (Currently using SU-25 and -25T, and L-39)

Looks sorta lot someone pulled the pin on a large smoke pot!

Zeno's Warbirds and Periscope Films have several flight training films, also I've learned crucial flight lessons from various private companies on YT teaching the Cessna 150 and 152. Thanks for posting the link!

So, if I understand... Any mods that we had put into the main DCS directory (c:\program files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS\mods , for example) we should remove and put them in an identical folder tree within the c:\users\saved games\DCS\ directory? This should be used for all mods, including liveries, terrain, and texture mods?

Beautiful pic! ...Try to get another with less reflections (hint: turn off the hall lights), also post the title of it and the photographer, so people can buy a print. Thanks for sharing!

Or have several island models in mission editor, ranging from sand bars to "airstrip + small harbor" size...speed 0 and alt 0, of course. This could be individual islands, or overlays showing accurate representations of several island chains. <3 ocean idea!

Are we players saying farewell to the MiG-15 and the Sabre?!
VZ_342 replied to Alpenwolf's topic in Multiplayer
Interesting. The Korean War is sometimes referred to as The Forgotten War", and for the same reasons. Even WW1 (the "War to End All Wars") was forgotten after WW2. Ask people to name a battle, and Frozen Chosin is the usual (and only) one mentioned. Maybe get a second computer and run a dedicated server for the era that is being "forgotten"? -
Mission Editor. I copied--was inspired by--a really cool training mission I saw on YouTube. When you first start up the ME, zoom out a bit and then click and drag to the lower left coastline...you'll see an airport with an "X" shaped runway. Select "vehicles" and put a line of unarmed trucks on each runway. Maybe put a few trucks in the grassy areas nearby. Be sure to change the country designator to something other than US. Northeast of this runway (about 1-2 miles) is another airport with a single runway...launch from there so you can practice takeoffs and landings after having your pyrotechnic fun. In the game, you can go to settings/gameplay and set ammo to unlimited so you don't have to land to rearm. Watch YouTube videos if this doesn't make sense...heck, watch the videos anyway (search for DCS mission editor tutorial).

The Middle East is a very interesting area right now, heck yeah I'd pay $100 for it, and I have yet to fly the A10!

Indeed. A U-turn and a beeline for the US vessel...and after traveling (how far? Looks more than just a short joy-ride), it hits and then turns around and "oops, this is where we're supposed to be going..." It will be interesting when/if more details are released. 0230 local is pretty dark...

Awesome, calming video! Love the music, too! ...I was just getting into a Zen reflective mindset when I saw IT... :poster_oops:
