  1. Easy fix: modify the airport by adding a hostile Shilka next to the tree...I can almost guarantee the tree won’t be seen at all! :pilotfly:
  2. ...or spread quickly, depending on wind speed and direction...
  3. ROFL!! Music is perfect!Such beauty and gracefulness....wait, is that a tank dancing with SU-27's?! LOL
  4. I suggest one start with the given presets, and when one gets in the game, use RCtrl+Pause/Break (This shows a frame rate counter in the upper left). Start low, if FPS is very good, leave the game and go to Medium...and so on. Once the FPS gets below acceptable, go out and set the preset to the previous selection (if medium is ok but high is too much, set to medium) Then adjust the various items to what your preferences are...for example the trees on my system were appearing just before I overflew them...not good for immersion or safety, so I bumped up the distance of the trees and the "pre-load" distance and only lost a couple FPS...good trade for me! HTH
  5. Water isn't naturally blue, only on clear days when it can reflect the sky. Sometimes there is an algae bloom and the water becomes a definite green color. The yellow water is due to a bunch of Marines peei....errr... No, it looks like a sunrise reflection. Very awesome pic, btw!
  6. Wow, superb! With medium settings, I'm getting 40+ fps, and the scenery is better than 1.58 (which aren't bad either)... Of course, I'd love to use the higher settings which are simply STUNNING, but I get 8-12 fps...time to start saving for an upgrade!! Thank you!!

    Well lookie here!!

    Very nice!
  8. In my twisted and slightly warped view of my ... ummm ... ReALiTy, I am a multi-trillionbillionaire and was lucky enough to find a SU-25T on Craigslist under “gig wanted”...it even has a color shkval monitor! :pilotfly: Have fun up there!
  9. It’s all in Russian. I didn’t see anything “A-7”...?
  10. Ok, flew it again. Fly the SU-25 level, with pipper on boresight (which is just above the center of sight glass when glass is fully depressed). In this condition, the locked pipper can be adjusted without problem. Any roll attitude or if the pipper is near the edges of the sight glass (bottom, top, left, right) and the aiming controls will make the pipper move erratically. I got 4 out of 6 S25L hits, the two misses were entirely my impatience. BTW, I started my approach at 6 km (at ~500 km/h go about 35 seconds out from target turn 200° = 6 km). At that distance, I could not see the American AA armor (AA7?) but fairly quickly (at ~5km) I could see them, but not clearly enough to get a killing lock...by 4 km I could see enough to tell if I was locked under or over, left or right. I could fire, but if I thought it needed adjusting I couldn't adjust the aim point the first couple times (had a roll going on), and had to unlock and could re-acquire at about 2 km. The last three times I flew level and boresighted, and got 1-2-3 kills. It can be done! :joystick:
  11. So...it sounds cool and all, but if it sends a 320x240 rectangle from the display, what happens when the display changes, like when I turn my head (I use TIR-style positioning)? Would the little display move with the main screen, or is there a way for it to be locked on something that isn’t actually on the visible screen, like instrument gauges?
  12. SU-25 has the same “bug” for me....adjusting the lased and stabilized pipper is not at all reliable. I didn’t notice if I was maneuvering beyond a near-straight line, I’ll check tomorrow. All that being said, I have the “lock” button slaved to a button on the throttle handle. Using zoom view, I gently adjust the aircraft’s pitch and yaw and when it’s directly on the target I lock it. If it’s close I unlock it and repeat the process. I generally use about 1/3rd the distance from “first sighting” to lock-on...if I have to unlock and lock again, I generally lose the next 1/3rd distance...at which point I either switch to guns or abort. The SU-25A + laser can be a very effective platform, just adjust your technique to work around the problems. (If the pipper doesn’t move correctly, don’t use that adjustment) Let the “mechanics (ED) work on it after you land.
  13. FJORDS!!!! ETA: I voted yes. Grand Canyon...Real maps would be great as well, but there isn't anything inherently wrong with fictional landscapes. imho
  14. http://www.king5.com/video/news/local/historic-fighter-jet-for-sale/281-2877647 For the low, low price of 2.9 mil USD (OBO)
  15. For me the sad part is slowly seeing old friends--fleets of F-4's, A-4's, B-52's etc be there one day, then a year later nothing but a big empty field with "shadows" on the ground. (As seen on Google Earth) I saw the entire fleet of EF-111A's and the other 111's simply fade away. Don't know which fate was better--ours were scrapped and presumably melted, while the Aussie 111's were stripped and buried in unmarked mass graves.
  16. I'm building a SU-25T cockpit with as many switches and knobs as I can finagle just for this reason! For me, looking all over for this or that switch and then clicking it with the mouse disrupts immersion even more than the keyboard. From ST:TWoK-- The Enterprise deactivates the Reliant's shields... Khan, scanning the defense control panel, looks frantic as he shouts, "Override! Where's the OVERRIDE!?"
  17. Back in Nov the KA-50 was (for me) on the back burner of the “to get” list, and I didn’t venture into this board. Now that I have it, I actually tried to fly it, and ended inverted on the ground after an uncontrolled and somewhat rapid descent. Before trying again, I’m going to do the tutorials, if there are any (that’s how quick I jumped into the cockpit LOL). What were your “KA-50 workshops”? Something a ‘Type 1 Level 0’ N00b could use?
  18. Awesome! Just what I was looking for!
  19. You are aware Area 51 is nearby...? Looks like classic Space Alien work...:robot: :ufo:
  20. Many of the planes I worked on and others where I’ve had the pleasure of sitting in the cockpit have this effect. Not sure if there’s a limit to how bad it can be before the windscreen or canopy is replaced, but “crystal clear” is unusual imo.
  21. LOL! Real-world funny: A copper thief was in the basement of an unoccupied house, happily cutting away the pipes...turns out one of the pipes was the gas pipe, and when he smelled “something”, he.... Wait for it..... :megalol: Yup, he LIT A MATCH TO SEE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM! The house was destroyed, but our intrepid thief was merely stunned, and was helped out of the rubble by the FD.
  22. I have had CH pedals for about a year and running Win 10...no problems so far. Plug ‘n play!
  23. Thank you!
  24. Imho, if I wore a university sweatshirt I would expect conversations to start with, “ So...did you go there?” And as long as I quickly owned up to the fact I’d never gone to that university, all is well. That being said, some military things should never be worn unless earned, like medals for valor, the EGA (USMC), or the Combat Infantry Badge (US Army).
