  1. I never understood the attraction to FSX or similar. To me, it's like saying "Hmm...I want to fly a sim, but do I want a one-two hour flight, blow things up and avoid SAMs, or do I want a 6 hour flight at Angels 34 non-stop to (insert far away place here)? I think it would be fun to try NOE flying with a 747 though...replicate various catastrophes and other events. But it'd get old fast.
  2. I shall check that next time I'm preflighting. (Fwiw, engine rpm gauges show normal idle levels, but engine noise suggests 60%-70%)
  3. Did anyone else hear the Commissar from "Enemy at the Gates" yell, "When the man in front of you gets shot, you pick up his rifle AND SHOOT!" This is why I prefer the 25 over the 25T...it just feels like Mother Russia is in the very bones of the plane!
  4. Lately I have with the SU25...start the mission, click final "ok" and as the pre-active-game "zoom" completes, the aircraft starts creeping forward, gradually accelerating to dangerous corner speeds. Don't know why this is happening, but I can stop it if/when I jam the throttles forward to full and immediately being them back to idle.
  5. Eh, nevermind. Part of my training process includes using unlimited ammo. Missile rails are empty after firing them when that setting is turned off. :joystick::doh:
  6. So I'm doing some ground attack work using the gun pods, and I have two R-60's on the outer pylons. After I finish with the trucks and Humvees I go after a nearby B-52 for A2A practice. But, when I fire the R-60's at the bomber I can check the pylons and the missiles are still there. I can't fire any more, so it seems to be a "bug." FYI for whoever handles this sort of thing.
  7. Iron Man, Wild Goose! Iron Man,Wild Goose! Sounds like a finger up a tin man's backside, doesn't it? ...also a late 70's Bond...James Bond. RIP
  8. Maybe offer the plans "for personal use only", so if someone within the buyers' world had the tools + talent to have them made, it could be done? this way we'd have good dimensions instead of reverse-engineering from pictures?
  9. Do both! If you must choose one, get the TIR.
  10. Subscribed to this thread...learning the 25 and the 25T, right now barely able to use the cannon, and the 1900 CST (1700 my time) may pose a challenge, but... I'm keeping my eyes on this! :pilotfly:
  11. Still watching the flanker training videos for more details which I overlooked the first few times...and sometimes watch just for fun. Thank you!
  12. Anyone can make a training video, just be sure it starts out at a very basic level and progresses in a step-by-step manner. If I knew how to fly much, much better I'd make it. As it is, I'm just good enough to avoid unintentional ground collisions about 80% of the time...LOL
  13. I use ED for DCS, Steam for other games. I did download DCS and the SU27 and F15 from Steam, but since there's a lot on here that isn't on Steam (but everything on Steam is here), it just makes more sense to do everything DCS here.
  14. I worked on the attack radar and terrain following radar of the ef-111...radars have what is called a "blanking pulse" which is basically an internal suppression of all radar signals within 1/4 mile or so. I forget the reason, it has something to do with the aircraft's timing of all electronic broadcasts. If one were super-close to a large blocking aircraft (like a B-52) yes there might be a pie-shaped shadow (area of no returns) on the screen, just like if there was a mountain in front of you, you couldn't see through it. I would think that such close encounters would only happen when refueling, because it is inherently risky to be that close...and if for some reason one was that close, your radar screen would not be as interesting as the aircraft in front of you.
  15. Go fly any WWI aeroplane, they don't have modern accessories like the canopy...:)
  16. Activating an 18 kg resistance mechanism to the rudder pedals just makes it more difficult for the pilot to achieve the 1/3rd deflection limit. This can be simulated by adjusting the curves of the rudder axis in the game. I would set it to 30% deflection when 80% pedal travel has occured, and then a gradual increase to 50% rudder at 100% pedal deflection. Of course, ideally this scaling should be automatic depending on airspeed...at 300 km/h 100% deflection is survivable, but at 1000 km/h one would want minimal or no rudder deflection. That's my 2 rubles...incidentally I flew the 27 for the first time yesterday, and noticed I could fly with my feet off the pedals entirely, it was that easy to operate. Never lost control, unlike my first few F-15 flights.
  17. ...until opfor finds out where you are, then jumps you with a few Migs... :surprise:
  18. Never worn a VR headset, but it seems like a narrow (like 1/4"-1/2") clear panel on the bottom edge of the headset, with a panel cover that can flip up/down, would work to provide momentary real-world vision. Or something like that.
  19. Where in the game do you choose GT? And what does your folder "tree" in JSGME look like? I tried _mods/GT and _mods/Mods/Mods/terrains/GT but no joy...
  20. A quick thought, maybe nonsense, but if enough people send in a request and an offer to buy, that would get things moving faster. For those interested, how much would the E-2/GCI module be worth to you, given it being made to DCS standards or better? $100? $200? (I've done dispatching work before, so I'd be keen on this also.)
  21. You walked away from it, and the plane wasn't too borked... 10/10 :cheer3nc:
  22. In the button assignments screen, scroll right (past the hotas column), you'll find the mouse column. I didn't know it was there until I saw Ralfidude mention it in one of his videos.
  23. I followed the instructions, and even got it moved to the "Activated" side, but don't know how to use in in DCS...? Also, maybe an error in the instructions:
  24. http://www.****************/files/file/3284-jsgme-jonesoft-generic-mod-enabler/ This is where I got my copy.
  25. Initially for me FTnoIR didn't work very well, it was always losing track of the face. Then I read here on DCS forums that one must use the three IR head clip thing, which I found on EBay, along with a modified PS3 camera. The description said it was in Hong Kong, and "may have scratches" on the case due to the minor modification, but I bought it anyway. It has a neat little lens cap installed, btw. Don't be like me and assume it's a special IR filter...LOL There were no visible scratches when I opened up the package, btw. The pics in the EBay description also had images of the settings on needed, following those helped a LOT. There was a YouTube video that showed the driver for the canera that was needed: After that, it works GREAT! Totally awesome add-on, and 1/3rd the cost of TiR.
