Fabric and wood is flexible, unlike glass. I wouldn't think the shockwave would destroy the triplane, and the F22 pilot wouldn't want to risk the 7.92 bullets damaging the engines (unlikely, but still a risk that's not needed to be taken). I vote F22.

I have my 3 screens angled...center is centered, left and right are angled about 20-30 degrees. I just eyeballed it until things looked right with TrNOIR re: moving my head and moving the aircraft. I also built a riser for the desk, because my eye level was in the top third of the screen, and I wanted it just below the center of the screens. The riser is about 5" tall, and is large enough to hold all 3 monitors securely and at the angle I'd set.

My experience in the USAF was that "stadium lighting" wasn't a priority before the mid-80's. We had light carts with two floodlights, which worked well for about half the aircraft (EF-111). Sometimes we had to use flashlights (the old ones with actual light bulbs in them). This was in CONUS, and we had a bit larger budget at the time than the Soviets; I wouldn't think they had such lights back then. Ah, the stars at night in the middle of the desert! Very beautiful! Maybe put in a line for "pre-1980 = no stadium lighting"?

...What I need to know: Just about everything! Do I contact tower for engine start, taxi, runway, etc? How does "chat" work? I have "Simple Radio"--and don't know how to use it. I got on my first MP server tonight, passed IC, but then I disconnected (possibly because I took too much time reading the Briefing). I was able to get back in, started engines, taxied to the end of the taxiway when I heard Tower give instructions to an incoming A/C. Not wanting to violate any written/unwritten protocols, I disconnected...but this time my "shield" was RED--showing a failed IC. Any help, tips, guidance etc is appreciated. US Pacific Time Zone if anyone is willing to fly with a relative n00b...:pilotfly: Thanks! ETA: My preferred a/c is the SU-25/25T.

Photos of the two F-14's on display in Oregon
VZ_342 replied to Ghostrider142's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Website shows they're still open, no mention of imminent closure. Even has a pic of a D-Day painted Mustang. Thx for mentioning these three museums, I'm only about 20 minutes by F-15C 5 hrs away by car... -
Using rudder for coordinated turns helps during aggressive maneuvers...Without it one can generate a stall (or worse, a spin).

I remember in Quake 2 there was a mod which allowed the grenade launcher to toss nukes...It was so heavily abused by players that many (if not most) servers banned them.

Zoom! How did you descend? Engine at idle, descending spiral?

Thank you! And just in time, I'm good at terrain avoidance, and learning how to fly formation with an AI aircraft.

DCS off--Ghost text on Task Bar
VZ_342 replied to VZ_342's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
OMG...you're a genius! Indeed, it is part of the desktop background. I never knew he taskbar is ever-so-slightly transparent! Ok then...moving right along...:music_whistling: -
So I noticed this morning there is a very hard-to-see "ghost image" of the DCS flight info on the task bar of my computer. DCS is not running (just started the computer). I have about 20-30 hours of flight time, but have used external views (with the flight info on the bottom of the screen) very little, mostly to watch weapons released. I don't believe it's burned into the screen, as it appears on all 3 of the monitors and they are all new when I got them. Any suggestions on why and/or how to fix it?

AWACS unit of measurement BRAA in feet or meters? AGL/MSL?
VZ_342 replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS 2.9
Mission editor, make a situation with 3 aircraft--yours, AWACS, and a bogey. Have all aircraft airborne and take note of the BRAA info. Compare that info to in-game BRAA. -

Can you exit the cockpit without bailing out?
VZ_342 replied to SnakeBT6's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Ctrl+E, E, E w/canopy open and engines off = ejection (SU-25) Alt + J = placement of POV outside of cockpit, near left stab. Unable to "walk". Alt + J again places POV back into cockpit. (SU-25) There are are few times this would be fun, exploring Area 51, watching a/c taxi and takeoff, etc. Being "on foot" rather than "disembodied" would be more immersive. -
Jet Fighter 3...had the F22, F/A18, and F14.

What is "tool tips"? I've seen the checkbox in Settings, but have no idea what it's for...

The game is biased towards English dots, imho. . <--American super-sized dot

+1 Ah, I remember the old times, going hull down in a StuG III in ASL...nearly impossible to be hit, except by aircraft! Hey...did you hear that? Sounds like a P-47... Nah, can't be. They don't have P-47's is DCS.

I'd want the "fjords" just west of the proposed border as well. Lots of surprising and sudden encounters with ships..! Re: land surrounding the edges of the map...make the boundary some distance from "allowed airspace" (out of visual sight, say 10-20 miles) and have it be a simple sand bar or coral reef.

Way back in the mid-70's my parents and I would make occasional trips to Spokane WA (USA). On a couple of those we stopped at Northtown Mall while there was a miltary display being...well, displayed. I remember an M110 (113? The APC with aluminum sides) as well as an F-4 Phantom. They allowed us kids to climb in, under, and around the displays (parents were probably too cool to do it)...I distinctly remember looking at the grease trails under the F-4! I asked one of the people there how they got the plane in to the parking lot...he pointed to a semi with a flat bed trailer. Don't know if that's how they did it, but still was a cool experience. I'm hoping someone can recall any similar display, because it couldn't have just been in Spokane...
