  1. I struggled with Mig-15, F-87, or KA-50...finally decided on the hell-of-a-copter.
  2. I like tearing up the ground with the gun pods set to “full auto” and “unlimited ammo”...it’s oddly satisfying!
  3. Awesome! Tell me how...? (I’ve never gotten anything but Nevada and Caucasus, and that’s only by choosing 1.5 and 2.0)
  4. I would suggest if the target is on an uphill* slope, that the time of fall (“slant range”) would be less, so the bombs would fall short. If the target is on a downhill* slope, the TOF would be greater, so the bombs will go long. TL;DR— Uphill, aim just beyond target Downhill, aim just before target *from the perspective of the pilot
  5. ...one that vaguely resembles the L39. DIY aircraft!
  6. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!1! I <3 bomb trucks! Especially those called “Scooters”!
  7. I don’t have any true first hand accounts, but I read a book in the mid-70s in 6th grade which was written in 1962 for young teens. Quite a bit dated now, but maybe it has something about the mindset of new enlisted Airmen of the time. Their morals and outlook on life in general were much different than today.
  8. In Everett WA (USA) there has been a group of volunteers building several ME-262's (5, iirc). They used an original 262 which had been displayed somewhere as a "war trophy. Because it was too rusty to fly, they took it apart piece-by-piece and made the parts with modern materials and engines. (The builders/designers were mostly retired Boeing engineers.) They made a couple single- and two-seat versions each. Here's a video of a flight:

  9. FacetrackNoIR, active IR "Pro" headphone (velcro'd on)...PS3 camera modded for IR use only, and Open Track software. All hardware found on EBay. I used to have FTNoIR software, but it would still go wonky at max angles and then it went totally glitchy on me (random full-pitch/yaw/roll movements). Open Track fixed that in a most glorious fashion. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the wrap-around screen + 2x (3x?) projector method yet.
  10. How to get your fav aircraft made, without brow beating others? Try this easy, one-step process: Drop everything and learn how to program! :smartass: I’d suggest trying to make a bouncing ball first, because you don’t have to worry about clickable controls or pesky RWR systems. Flares would be awesome though... :balloon:
  11. Fwiw, I was using facetrackNoIR with freetrack and clip on IR lights...and my view did the same thing, sudden jumping and extreme angle changes (e.g., a 30^ head turn to left = -90^ pitch + 30^ roll). A comment on these forums suggested using opentrack instead of FTNoIR, and this reduced the craziness but didn’t make it go fully away. I’ve adjusted anything the seemed to help with this, but no go. I’m wondering—because it came upon me suddenly, no lighting change, background conflict, etc—if there was an update recently which caused a problem. Or maybe the IR leds are just dim? (If I shorten the distance to the camera it seems to work better)
  12. LOL! Everyone has to have a hobby... Serenity Prayer: ED grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
  13. I second the motion.
  14. We had F-111's sink several inches into the asphalt on really hot days, then they changed to concrete (which increased the risk of FOD). I always felt lucky when I could get out of the grassy areas in DCS.
  15. Lackland AFB! BTDT, had the Pinger jacket! (Lost it after several post-service moves :( ) Good times, good times...
  16. puh-puhpuh--puh-puh--puhpuhpuh-puh-puh *zooms out a bit to get rid of annoying puh-puh sound*
  17. Thank you, I was beginning to think I’d gone crazy or something. I’d get the upside down view anytime I looked at the extreme edge of up/left/right limits.
  18. Day 1 buy, looks awesome!
  19. ROFL! :joystick:
  20. I’m not totally comfortable with the idea that a module that I bought will “call home” (to ED, if I understand correctly) every four DAYS? I’m curious, is ED located in Russia?
  21. Beautiful!
  22. Cable management! You don’t want an ankle snagging something and clearing the world! Otherwise it looks very roomy! :)
  23. Very, VERY close call! Good evasions!
  24. OP said he used your skin as a basis to learn the art of skinning in DCS, not that yours was wrong. Just sayin’...
  25. Wow, very neat corner pit! I think they make wallpaper with a “sky+clouds” design to help out with the bare walls...or even a plain sky blue paint would add to the immersion factor.
