  1. You probably want to look at the pit builders threads.
  2. Probably because the whole carrier and procedures are WIP.
  3. The Carrier ATC is getting reworked for carrier operations. It won't be available any time soon, but it is coming.
  4. Until all of the new mechanics are in-game, the player will have to press 'U' to connect with the shuttle. At least that was the button for the Su-33.
  5. Both the Hornet and the PG map are discounted at the moment. You won't get a better combined deal for several months, so you might as well buy now if you are interested in both.
  6. Yes.
  7. Hey Cowboy, technically speaking, no carrier comes with the Hornet. The standard carrier in DCS World will get an upgrade in terms of carrier operations. ED has not provided full details on what all that means just yet. This, in my opinion, will simply be improved launch and recovery operations. The carrier (paid for module) will include additional capabilities that ED has not gone into detail on just yet either. I remember reading where the paid for module will be usable by those that did not purchase it, they just won't be able to use all of the extra features - similar to how Combined Arms works. I have not seen an official statement, only hints or plans, so that may change and the paid for module may end up being like the WW2 Assets pack. For the "standard" carrier, your friends should be able to use it just like they can today.
  8. No dates or estimates have been given. ED won't do that as a vocal minority in the community get butt-hurt when dates are missed - even if by mere hours. It will take time until it is feature complete; I do not foresee it taking a year unless issues arise. AFAIK no campaign will be included with the Hornet, only training missions.
  9. Putting my 2 cents in the mix - 18th.
  10. You can't sit back in a real aircraft and see behind you. You have to lean your body and twist so that you can look behind you.
  11. You have to look at the amount of joy or playtime you will get out of each module. "Expensive" is subjective. What, I believe, we can all agree on is if you buy any module and utilize it enough it becomes very "cheap" in regards to the cost per hour of enjoyment. For instance I have flown the A-10C enough that it "cost" roughly $0.007 per hour of flight. That's a pretty good deal if you ask me.
  12. You could always look behind you with VR in DCS. What you are able to see is entirely dependent on the cockpit of the aircraft. For instance the A-10C has better visibility than the Mig-21.
  13. I'm sure some of them have, that is not the purpose of the "press access" that they are using. All game companies use a similar method where they will send copies out to game magazines, big youtubers, etc... to help build hype in their soon to be released product.
  14. The current CVN's will get upgraded for the core mechanics of carrier operations. The Carrier modules are rumored to include additional features. We will have to wait for ED to make a formal announcement of the complete list of what the paid-for-module will include.
  15. If people do not buy first gen hardware, there will never be a second generation. Detail can be read in the cockpit with the CV1, now the DK1 was something else. This quote proves you have never tried VR. I will thank you, and I will enjoy spending a couple of hundred on Gen 3 if it is enough of an improvement. There will always be a market for used tech, not all intend to sell. I still have me DK1, Dk2 and CV1. You should avoid buying CV2, save your money to buy CV10, after all why would you buy inferior hardware today when you can save and buy better hardware tomorrow. No one has been duped. In fact mot people on these forums have recommended users wait until this fall when CV2 is expected to be announced.
  16. You do realize that what was provided in the Weekend News Update is not a complete-feature-list of the Aircraft Carrier right? There will also be some additional features available on the paid module versus the free module that comes with DCS.
  17. Yes, the EA version will only have AIM-9 and Aim-7. Later we will get AIM-9X and AIM-120B. I do not remember is the AIM-120C will be available or not. This is due ED giving the AIM-120* some love in term of modeling. We do not know what that exactly entails and we will have to wait for further information.
  18. Wags already stated that the invited several, talented, mission/campaign makers to begin working on their wares for Persian Gulf. No one knows how long it will be before they drop their content.
  19. You include very poor examples for range. This is more realistic, let alone the load outs you will see in multiplayer....
  20. Maybe you missed the bold part of Silver's post....
  21. We don't know if they were considering expanding long before they announced they were thinking about it. They have to weigh performance and graphics. Heck, look at the people complaining about the performance in 2.5 where if they have 32GB of ram, it'd be a non-issue. They once said the new terrain technology *could* allow them to stitch maps together; I'd love to see that happen, so I am in complete agreement with you there. My previous posts are simply to help temper expectations as we, as a community, like to let our imagination run wild sometimes. Also keep in mind, that 99.999999% of missions do not use the full map of any terrain. I constantly hear people complaining about having to fly 15+ mins to get to the AO. Imagine the cries if people had to fly 2 hours just to get to the AO. Now I look forward to that, most people will not enjoy it. They especially won't enjoy it when they flew 2 hours and get shot down right away. That is something else ED takes a look at. So I want to see them continue with the maps in the size we are getting with the hopes of one day stitching them together for a larger map.
  22. I don't think you will free up enough space removing modules. Your best bet is to work on getting a new SSD. You have around a month and SSDs are really cheap. Heck I still remember buying a 256GB SSD for $1,500 back in the early days.
  23. I've seen a ton of mountains in the previews. There are a lot on the Eastern edge at Oman. There are a lot more mountains on the Iran side of the map. Helo Ops will be more practical with CLTD as you cannot just drive ground vehicles across the Strait. While the ocean doesn't provide any cover or concealment, island hoping will be more practical.
