I might be the wrong person to answer this to a degree, I don't hold sims or games to any particularly complex review system. A10c is the bet (IMHO) air combat sim I've played (haven't tried bms, but apples and oranges IMO). These complex study sims are what you make of it. They are a sandbox with no direction. Not all planes can do it all (except multirole) and we only have two dcs airframes now. Fixed wing ground attack aircraft (which has huge relavence in modern day conflicts) and an attack helicopter. For those who hate helo's the A10 is an option, for those who hate ground attack there's F4 and BMS...that pretty much does it in the study sim catagory. Flying is entertainment. Hopefully users can let the entertainment value in and keep the majority of negativity out. No game or sim is perfect, I beleive it's what you make of it and the support it gets from community and developer. If you have $49 to drop and you like black shark, there's no doubt the entertainment value for a10 is much higher than the price point. Each player is different and hold different standards, only the individual can make the educated guess whether or not the sim is right for them. To write off any study sim to any degree seems pointless to me simply due to the fact there are a handful of them available and all have different strengths and weaknesses. I don't care what airframe ED models, I'm going to pick it up for fidelity sake. Flying the a10 is much more than just finding the column and Mdf button pushing. Much more than that.

I'm not a stickler for third party game streams like Steam, but I don't like how Origin is setup frankly. I find it sloppy and clunky and can't stand the browser search for games part of it. It has been about 6 years since I've played a FPS on PC (COD 2) I moved over to Consoles because my friends were gaming there, but gave that up 2 years ago. Funny enough, I find the mouse keyboard combo now more difficult. It's going to take some adjusting big time as my in game skills are horrid at the moment ;). The multiplayer player itself is fantastic fun and it's worth dealing with Origin to play.

Looks like a lot more time and effort went into the story telling aspect of this ace combat. Trailer looks impressive, reminds me of COD of the skies which regardless of my lack of personal interest...can see some potential for that market. Varying elements of gameplay as well, helo, fixed wing, gunner position and specter gunship. Janes USAF and hawks both look like a joke compared to this. I can handle a Hollywood degree of realism in games and movies, the SAM Chase scene from behind enemy lines is where I draw the line. ;)

One major and often overlooked factor is physical effects of G's, orientation etc on the body. It's amazing the sensation a simple tilt or twist of the yoke can give your body. It gets better over time, but practicing spin recovery for the first time can be a sickening feeling definitely. Honestly the mental stress of the dead or alive dogfight and the physical stress the body endures during such a scenario is remarkable. I can't imagine how utterly exhausted WWII pilots were, especially during the BOB where they were on alert almost 24/7. I love flight simulators, but I will never consider them much of a contest to reality. :)

Arcade aside, it doesn't even look like GOOD arcade. It looks like like dated crap as if Apache Air Assault and even the Ace Combat/Hawx games never existed. Strange they'd brand it Janes, since those who played "Janes" sims are looking for "sims". Anyway, most likely it will fail and now let us never speak of this garbage again ;)

I agree fully, i won't by any means complain if the FM are dcsevel, but definitly not expecting them to be. The concept of this game is interesting enough for me to forgive any "gamey" elements that may come with the package. My view on fidelity remains high, but I don't expect every developer to walk the same line when it comes to fligh sims. Light sims hold a very special place in my heart and always will. :D. -
I think Nevada is a great addition personally. Immersion comes when you can do all your training in Nevada instead of the AO. Preferences are preferences, you're not going to satisfy everybody. :pilotfly: Hopefully in the end the improvements will warrant the cost associated with it. I like to think of it as an "expansion" of the original product. Like "B-Wing" was an expansion to X-Wing. :)

Jesus mate, what sims were you flying in 2001?

Isn't that the problem with distribution ultimately? You get varied release dates depending on who is handling distribution/production of said copies. I have to admit my opinion of digital downloads vs physical disk copies has changed drastically in the last two years. Ultimately that preference will always be in the players hands, although I feel in the close future, the way of DVD distribution (especially by boutique game developers) will become extinct. I hope you find what you're looking for sooner than later Spectre, A-10C is THE best modern day flight sim on the market now and you're missing out in the meantime ;). :joystick:

The term "simulation" means very different things to those who read it. ;)

Looks amazing, wish I had the time to invest into making FSX look this nice. A-10C is all I'm able to squeeze in now and even those days are few and far between. Maybe...ONE day! ;)

It's true, there has been a lot of talk about Boba Fett. I still can't believe he didn't do more with him in the third film after SORT of setting him up a bit in the second. I guess they had to concentrate on the "LOVE" story...love. One thing that I didn't miss from the original Star Wars trilogy. The whole reason Padme died made no sense (she's lost the will to live, but here are two twins who need a mother...that's not will enough for you?). Oh I'm starting to rant and I don't even really care lol. :)

Completely OFF topic for this I apologize, but if done right this could be very cool; http://screenrant.com/captain-america-director-joe-johnston-boba-fett-movie-rothc-123936/?_r=true

I was shocked when I saw these. They are NOT cheap to make and have some SERIOUS production value. I agree they do stand up looking better than the latest films that's for sure. I actually accept the universe more in full CG rather than 10% live action and 90% CG. Can do a lot more with the camera and time manipulation with CG as well. Thanks for sharing.

It's a little early to be commenting on specifics I think at this point. It's impossible to tell through that video if it's indeed a new engine or an updated version of the old. They're calling it arma 3 for a reason I would suspect. Perhaps the interviewer asked the questions but there was no comment at this point from BI so that part was cut out. Who knows, gameplay vids first to wet the pallette of the casual user. Specifics later for the rest.

Looking good, thanks for sharing.

Will proudly walk into the store and purchase this title. This statement comes directly from someone who has lost complete interest in fps (arma series is exception). Duke Nukem forever has also sparked interest...simply for nostalgia. "shake it baby"

Hey Ange, nice job on the video man! I could only dream of FSX looking that good on my system. Video gives me a nice window into that fantasy ;)

^^ Fc isn't going anywhere last I checked. Asking when a Russian bird will be available is rhetorical at this point. There are strong cases for both sides of the fence, but "fairness" and nationalism don't add much to either argument. Fc2 currently has 8 airfames to fly, air air, air to ground and a helicopter. That's pretty impressive by all means as no other modern day sim allows that level of online dynamic. Adding the black shark to fc was a good call, helicopters in a fixed wing arena has a noticable enhancement to gameplay. I don't personally see how adding a infinitely more advanced a10C to a simplified arena will do much for the online community. I guess my stance on it is....if it happens great, if not...no big deal. I leave the choice and decision to ED. Love the russian birds by the way, the 25/T is my fav airfame in fc so my stance has nothin to do with airframe nationality. I'm more interested in co op mp anyway, be it f16's air cover/sead for a10's or Russian 27's air cover toad ops. Euro birds are sexy as well...much love ;)
