Obviously this was an instant purchase! Onwards and upwards towards more FF RedFor modules!

VR Performance Issues - Start here
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in Virtual Reality
Presuming you mean 13GB since 13Gb is ridiculous, you're lucky then: as I'm sure you're aware the Chinook subforum is filled with angry people asking/demanding ED to optimise the Chinook's textures because it exceeds their available buffer size. But there are several factors determining the VRAM demand, not just the module itself: headset resolution, anti-aliasing, ... -
VR Performance Issues - Start here
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in Virtual Reality
Reported as 'in use': when the limit gets exceeded all the usual stutters happen. Older modules obviously use far less: 10-11GB and FC3 only around 8. -

Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in Virtual Reality
I usually sit between 14-15GB of VRAM in use, and with the Chinook that jumps to 18GB. -
Rain in cokpit desapear at high speeds
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to pabletesoy's topic in Clouds & Weather System
When I'm riding my motorbike in the rain, wind blows water drops off my helmet visor as well, so the speed at which that happens certainly isn't that high - particularly when you're talking about aviation speeds... -
VR: HIADSS Symbology too high
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Bracketman's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes it is: to look at it i have to roll up my irises so much my eyes hurt. I fail to see why it’s so hard to make a Special Option that allows users to adjust the default position. If Heatblur can do it, so can ED… -
Famous last words!

I took out an Apache again over Port Stanley, and I couldn't reproduce it either. Since I experienced it last time, there have been new releases of graphics drivers, chipset drivers AND a new BIOS so perhaps that either fixed it or somehow a BIOS option got changed so the issue no longer gets triggered I don't know... I'll keep an eye on it.

Nvidia driver?
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to rotan1999's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm going to stick with 576.28 for now. That one works perfectly well and I see no reason to update to 576.40 -
That’s pretty much impossible given the different hardware people have… ED already has such an algorithm to set cockpit lighting and MFD brightness depending on the time of day your aircraft spawns at. Have you ever known that to be even remotely accurate? At the industry standard gamma 2.2 deserts are already far too bright for me, and the colours washed out. A visor fixes that. I see in your signature that you’re using a Reverb G2, and I know from experience there’s a massive difference between a G2 and what I use (Aero Varjo) in terms of brightness and colours. Remember that gamma doesn’t just affect brightness: it shifts the entire colour spectrum.

Based on my understanding, games in general and flight simulators specifically have a lot of tiny data packages being sent back and forth between the CPU and the memory, very repetitively. Thanks to the V-cache of X3D CPUs, those data packages can stay in the cache of the CPU itself instead of being sent in and out all the time. This causes a massive reduction in latency, so even in scenarios where the average frame rates are not that different compared to other CPUs, the 1% lows will see a huge improvement with X3D.

Yes, the most comprehensive and detailed list is probably on the RAZBAM Discord. Notso keeps the list up-to-date and even lists work-arounds where applicable. Look for the channel called #strike-eagle-known-bugs *edit* This is the invite link in case you're not in there yet: https://discord.gg/gCJBbNmkKF

Reducing pre-load radius to 10km (plenty for helicopter operations) has helped me with excessive memory usage.

Curve Tips for TM TFR pedals
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to HR-Crumble's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I don’t know what everyone is using, but I’m using none. And you’re right, they’re not very well suited for helicopters… Removing the springs helps, though. -
F4E module stuck at 32fps in VR
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Blackhawk163's topic in Bugs & Problems
It’s probably deep on a programming level. Perhaps it’s related to HearblurUI, or how a specific subsystem is modelled? Who knows: there’s plenty that makes Hearblur stand out from the other modules and that’s especially true with the F-4E -
Indeed, in other words: fun! Not as boring as a *yawn* Hornet *snore*. Easier to refuel than a Hornet and very stable on approach, much more rewarding in a dogfight, much more exciting kinematics and deadly in BVR Superb immersion too in familiar Heatblur fashion

F4E module stuck at 32fps in VR
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Blackhawk163's topic in Bugs & Problems
Not really. A good while ago ED strongly discouraged using openxr toolkit as it was incompatible with DCS after an update. I don’t really remember the specifics. -
Because you spend too much time in "the drama" thread
