DCS: Cold War Germany - preview
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to MAESTR0's topic in DCS: Cold War Germany
The map is so popular / highly anticipated it brought down ED's server! Well done, Ugra- 489 replies

Let's transmute the phrase "Deutschland über allen" in the context of DCS. "CW Germany": one map to rule them all!

F-14 A/B feature follow-up, wish list and beyond
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to scommander2's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Link 4A is only supposed to work with the E-2 Hawkeye, not with the E-3 Sentry. I don't know if that is actually modelled in DCS Could this perhaps be the reason? -

Replay deviates from actual course of events
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to LeCuvier's topic in General Bugs
Quite the opposite. The system was initially designed as a debugging feature apparently, and hasn't worked reliably in ages. Recently an effort was made to fix this, but ED themselves admit it didn't work and they basically need an entirely new system built from scratch... -
I think it's fair to expect at least a decent representation of the responsibilities a real front-seater has in an operational Mi-24P, adjusted for what does and doesn't apply in the DCS environment.

Hey, Are there plans currently to add aircraft-specific animations for inserting the DTC in our cockpits, similar to what the JF-17 already has? This obviously helps with immersion. Perhaps not in the initial release, but a bit further down the line? Thanks!

Indeed, and it’s a very good looking helicopter too! I have been so lucky to see a few in the flesh

Pilot body, is that coming any time soon and...
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Nptune's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark 3
Thing is, when we get a new pilot model ED also needs to adjust the position of the HUD: right now the HUD is aimed at the pilot's chest. This is very obvious in VR when you look down (you're sitting *in* the seat instead of *on* it), and you can also very easily see it when checking the position of the pilot's head in external view (F2) compared to where the default viewpoint is in F1 view. -
Ooooh I can’t wait!
-
I’d have to check, but I’m pretty sure that’s only for FFB sticks: it allows for a different centre position - just like the F-5 and F-14 for example.

MMS Not Deployable After Cold-starting or Stowing.
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to fencible's topic in Bugs and Problems
Works just fine here, and I’ve been flying the Kiowa pretty much daily from cold start these past few weeks/months. What is your procedure? Double tap the “MMS manual/slave” button and it will move from stowed to forward just fine -
Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
As far as I am concerned, the art side of the Kiowa is on par with ED’s Hornet. Both are showing their age compared to the competition. Looking from the cockpit of the Kiowa out to the skids, and looking out of the Hornet’s cockpit to the LERXs you see a very similar detail level of textures. Same counts for the cockpits proper. Both these modules have room for improvement on the art side, but neither is “hopeless”. Eight years ago both (would) have dropped jaws, so let’s not get overly dramatic -
There is a mod in the User Files that works well. I’ve been using it for years
-
Yes the only thing that does work is reducing Textures to Medium - just for this 1 module.

ED does what ED does I think small iterations of FM changes being pushed to the clients likely makes troubleshooting easier, so that might be part of the reason. The userbase at large comprises of far more people than the team of testers ED has access to, so issues that might fall through the cracks will be easier to pick up that way. Is it the optimal way of doing things? From a user point of view probably not, but ED obviously disagrees … In the end, EA development is often one step back two steps forward, one step forward two steps back, … It's not fun for us users, but the end result should make up for it - we hope…
-
That's not an option though, as the FM still requires a LOT of work (including a rework of the rotor model). But I agree it's frustrating. I simply don't fly the Apache at the moment, and I'm very much looking forward to it being in a good state. I simply fly the Kiowa until then

We will get a full-fidelity MiG-23 regardless of who makes it: people seem to forget that both the -23 and -27 were on ED's "do not touch these"-list they gave to 3rd parties for a good while, before RAZBAM announced their MiG-23, as ED wanted to do both themselves. In any case, we NEED a FF MiG-23 since the upcoming GFM will use data from full-fidelity flight models, and the MiG-23 is such a common adversary. That's also something that people seem to forget: you can't have GFM for a particular AI aircraft unless it has a full-fidelity counterpart (unless ED changed their stance on that without telling us). That's the tragedy of it all: apparently the MLA was about to release when that mess came to the public's attention...

It’s a huge subject. As I said, there are plenty of YouTube videos out there with step-by-step guides. Pick one you resonate with and follow it: those people put a lot of time and effort into figuring it out and they can explain it far better than I could. *edit* I see you have Samsung NVMe drives, so make sure you have Samsung Magician installed and running in the background. That’s incredibly important for your drives’ health and performance.
