We will get a full-fidelity MiG-23 regardless of who makes it: people seem to forget that both the -23 and -27 were on ED's "do not touch these"-list they gave to 3rd parties for a good while, before RAZBAM announced their MiG-23, as ED wanted to do both themselves. In any case, we NEED a FF MiG-23 since the upcoming GFM will use data from full-fidelity flight models, and the MiG-23 is such a common adversary. That's also something that people seem to forget: you can't have GFM for a particular AI aircraft unless it has a full-fidelity counterpart (unless ED changed their stance on that without telling us). That's the tragedy of it all: apparently the MLA was about to release when that mess came to the public's attention...

It’s a huge subject. As I said, there are plenty of YouTube videos out there with step-by-step guides. Pick one you resonate with and follow it: those people put a lot of time and effort into figuring it out and they can explain it far better than I could. *edit* I see you have Samsung NVMe drives, so make sure you have Samsung Magician installed and running in the background. That’s incredibly important for your drives’ health and performance.

I haven’t seen one. I seem to remember Casmo saying on multiple subjects (such as IDM) that he’d make another video about it in his Combat Ready series, but I don’t think he ended up doing it. The manual is also quite light on details when it comes to “battlefield graphics” (that’s how I remember the manual calling it) you can make and then import in-game, other than saying you need to adhere to the correct naming conventions. Perhaps I missed it, but I haven’t seen any detailed walkthroughs… Basic waypoints are automatically loaded just like any other DCS aircraft with a glass cockpit, but you probably mean the more advanced stuff?

Optimising Windows 11 can make a huge difference. There are plenty of YT guides out there on how to do it. Obviously, with that setup you bought the problem is not hardware unless you have a faulty component somehow. So check Windows, drivers, BIOS setup, ... Other than that, I take it you mean 64GB of ram instead of "64Gb"? The latter is far far below the minimum specification for DCS. Also, 6000MHz RAM doesn't exist yet. You probably mean 6000MT/s

RAZBAM Situation Post Archive (will be deleted)
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Rhinozherous's topic in RAZBAM
Yes exactly. Seems to be that making DCS modules is a passion project for the (smaller) 3rd parties, but passion alone doesn’t put food on the table and with the community having ever increasing expectations of quality, costs are also increasing -
And aviator sunglasses / helmet visor, but that’s also common with other ED modules.

Absolutely. All of the "Normandy 1944" billboards in Syria really put a bad taste in my mouth and even kept me from flying there for a good while. P.S. I have always owned the Normandy 1944 and Normandy 2 maps.

Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Are you serious? Their entire team resigned, and recently they got one (1) new programmer and a community manager. That’s it. They still need to hire graphics artists etc. Imagine you at work when your entire team has been layed off, and it’s just you now. And then your clients start complaining the work isn’t getting done at the same speed it used to… Seriously, just be glad the Kiowa didn’t release in EA. It’s perfectly fine as it is now: the flight model is very very good and you have all the systems and weapons available. Is there room for improvement? Yes of course but all in due time when they got their team back up and running… -
The F-4 was a pioneer in many ways: it was for example where you can see the origins of the “HOTAS” concept. Likewise, for Soviet aviation the MiG-29 was a pioneer in many ways. It will be great to fly a recreation of such a legendary fighter!

Helicopter controls - force feedback question (Huey)
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to CommandT's topic in DCS: UH-1H
With my Rhino I just tuned it in a way that felt good to me, so I can have the best possible experience while flying it. Personally I have tuned the friction and inertia a bit higher than the values I use for the Kiowa for example, and that feels best for me and minimises the chance of me over-controlling. I fly with force trim turned off. -

NVIDIA settings & DCS, can,t see the settings

Likely an oversight, since the nVidia splash screen is shown on DCS startup. On the other hand, I don't know if there are any specific requirements nVidia has before a title is officially supported by their app. If you don't want to wait for that to happen, you could try your luck with nVidia Profile Inspector. -

Massive Memory leak since last update
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to ggoodavish's topic in Game Performance Bugs
On my PC I see DCS regularly use 48GB RAM, out of the 64GB I have. So depending on which mission you are running, SP or MP, problems can be expected. Personally I upgraded from 32 to 64GB 5 years ago, and I'm glad I did. Some people on these forums have 128GB of RAM, and while that is likely (hopefully) overkill for at least the next few years, I admit I am considering it as well for when I upgrade next time. -
As a point of comparison, take off in a Kiowa with SCASS turned off, then turn it back on again and notice the difference. Now compare that to how the Apache currently behaves. Yes they are completely different helicopters but this little exercise is still sufficient to get the point across.

Perhaps I should have believed that Nigerian prince

Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
Give them some time: they had to rebuild their team, and last update they said the new people were familiarising themselves with the code. -
Multiple RL helicopter pilots have stated on these very forums that flying helicopters in DCS is harder than IRL for the exact reasons you mention. But I think that some liberties can be taken to make sure the end result that the user experiences is very close to the end result the RL pilot experiences - which is probably why the Roadmap has an entry for: Automatic Pedal-Input Assist Option It is however striking how easy other helicopters in DCS are at low-speed control compared to the Apache, from Mi-8 to UH-1 to the recent OH-58, the latter having super care-free handling. In the Apache at sub-40kts speeds I feel like I am constantly fighting the FCS and need to pay extra attention to not have the tail swing wildly out of control…

I really don't understand why there would be confusion, as the descriptions - to me at least - are perfectly clear: - If you have FFB pick Instant Trim (it says "FFB friendly" for a reason); - If you have a normal springloaded joystick, pick either Instant Trim or Central Position Trimmer Mode depending on personal preference (though the latter might as well be removed since using that is a really bad idea for a multitude of reasons); - If you have a cyclic that has neither springs nor FFB (such as the Pro Flight Trainer Puma), pick Joystick Without Springs and FFB (it does exactly what it says it does).
-
Yes, absolutely! The only aircraft where I consistently use asymmetric load outs is the Kiowa.
-
None. Obviously for FFB deadzones, curves and saturation settings are a big no-no. For the pedals I use a deadzone of 2 (to counter a bit of slack in the centre of my TPR pedals) with 0 curves and normal (100) saturation on X and Y.
