  1. Absolutely. All of the "Normandy 1944" billboards in Syria really put a bad taste in my mouth and even kept me from flying there for a good while. P.S. I have always owned the Normandy 1944 and Normandy 2 maps.
  2. Instant Action Generator is a very welcome feature. Hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer
  3. Are you serious? Their entire team resigned, and recently they got one (1) new programmer and a community manager. That’s it. They still need to hire graphics artists etc. Imagine you at work when your entire team has been layed off, and it’s just you now. And then your clients start complaining the work isn’t getting done at the same speed it used to… Seriously, just be glad the Kiowa didn’t release in EA. It’s perfectly fine as it is now: the flight model is very very good and you have all the systems and weapons available. Is there room for improvement? Yes of course but all in due time when they got their team back up and running…
  4. The F-4 was a pioneer in many ways: it was for example where you can see the origins of the “HOTAS” concept. Likewise, for Soviet aviation the MiG-29 was a pioneer in many ways. It will be great to fly a recreation of such a legendary fighter!
  5. With my Rhino I just tuned it in a way that felt good to me, so I can have the best possible experience while flying it. Personally I have tuned the friction and inertia a bit higher than the values I use for the Kiowa for example, and that feels best for me and minimises the chance of me over-controlling. I fly with force trim turned off.
  6. Likely an oversight, since the nVidia splash screen is shown on DCS startup. On the other hand, I don't know if there are any specific requirements nVidia has before a title is officially supported by their app. If you don't want to wait for that to happen, you could try your luck with nVidia Profile Inspector.
  7. Please check the forums before opening another thread:
  8. On my PC I see DCS regularly use 48GB RAM, out of the 64GB I have. So depending on which mission you are running, SP or MP, problems can be expected. Personally I upgraded from 32 to 64GB 5 years ago, and I'm glad I did. Some people on these forums have 128GB of RAM, and while that is likely (hopefully) overkill for at least the next few years, I admit I am considering it as well for when I upgrade next time.
  9. As a point of comparison, take off in a Kiowa with SCASS turned off, then turn it back on again and notice the difference. Now compare that to how the Apache currently behaves. Yes they are completely different helicopters but this little exercise is still sufficient to get the point across.
  10. Perhaps I should have believed that Nigerian prince
  11. Give them some time: they had to rebuild their team, and last update they said the new people were familiarising themselves with the code.
  12. Multiple RL helicopter pilots have stated on these very forums that flying helicopters in DCS is harder than IRL for the exact reasons you mention. But I think that some liberties can be taken to make sure the end result that the user experiences is very close to the end result the RL pilot experiences - which is probably why the Roadmap has an entry for: Automatic Pedal-Input Assist Option It is however striking how easy other helicopters in DCS are at low-speed control compared to the Apache, from Mi-8 to UH-1 to the recent OH-58, the latter having super care-free handling. In the Apache at sub-40kts speeds I feel like I am constantly fighting the FCS and need to pay extra attention to not have the tail swing wildly out of control…
  13. I really don't understand why there would be confusion, as the descriptions - to me at least - are perfectly clear: - If you have FFB pick Instant Trim (it says "FFB friendly" for a reason); - If you have a normal springloaded joystick, pick either Instant Trim or Central Position Trimmer Mode depending on personal preference (though the latter might as well be removed since using that is a really bad idea for a multitude of reasons); - If you have a cyclic that has neither springs nor FFB (such as the Pro Flight Trainer Puma), pick Joystick Without Springs and FFB (it does exactly what it says it does).
  14. Yes, absolutely! The only aircraft where I consistently use asymmetric load outs is the Kiowa.
  15. None. Obviously for FFB deadzones, curves and saturation settings are a big no-no. For the pedals I use a deadzone of 2 (to counter a bit of slack in the centre of my TPR pedals) with 0 curves and normal (100) saturation on X and Y.
  16. Indeed. Let’s also hope it will work in both versions of the A-10C…
  17. And Mirage F1, C-101, Mirage 2000, MiG-21 (even though that one only works in pancake mode), AV-8B (removed for now because it didn’t work correctly), OH-58 and the upcoming Bo-105. But I think you misunderstood him I think he meant to say that he thinks the new A-10 tinted visor will end up being functionally useless. We’ll have to wait and see But it’s been one of the most requested features in the past 7 years so let’s hope ED is aware of that (even though they actively pretend not to be).
  18. Quickly, someone pinch me in the arm so I know I’m not dreaming! Will this feature be coming to other ED modules too? Every woman in existence would love such a feature! Oh wait, you mean extra fuel tanks?
  19. I fully support this. I did a proper boresight this morning, only to have George (with PHS as acquisition source) point the TADS somewhere in Narnia when I asked him to scan for targets where I was looking… A special option that makes the IHADSS for both pilot and CP/G always perfectly boresighted would be brilliant!
  20. For future reference, this is the F-4 section of the forum: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/919-dcs-f-4e-phantom/
  21. That's only applicable IRL. So for DCS it doesn't serve any purpose, and there's no need to model it.
  22. I seem to remember you can configure Project Lasso to load a different Power Profile when certain applications are running (you can select them yourself IIRC). This is how I remember it at least, it's been a while since I used Project Lasso. The alternative is writing a script or batch file to kill the "Power" service when you launch DCS, and to re-enable it once it closes. I have no idea how to do that, however.
