If you want to explore scripting, Airboss has a 'Skipper' option that will turn the boat into the wind for recovery windows. That way you can have the wind blowing whichever way you want, or dynamic weather, and the boat will turn into it and make 25 knots down the angle. https://flightcontrol-master.github.io/MOOSE_DOCS_DEVELOP/Documentation/Ops.Airboss.html

I fly the ball exclusively in coordination with Airboss and am getting OK to _OK_ scores regularly with both. Works with both the Hornet and the Tomcat for me. We routinely have a guy on the LSO platform and these passes are centered on the platcam all the way in. We have multiple guys that are trapping like this with no issues at all.

The bug forum and the long running bugs from years ago would disagree with your statement.

Did the mission start in the day? Since release, it hasn't been able to transition between CASEs. Whatever it starts the mission with stays. Definitely a bug.

Which is why it's being reported as a bug........................... -
correct as is Late activated SAM sites visible on SA
TonyG replied to Dunx's topic in Bugs and Problems
How is that not a bug. If it’s late activation, it’s not there. It could be ‘in transport’ to the location so you can’t say it’s a preloaded Threat ring. It’s not there. It shouldn’t be there until it is spawned in. 5 mins, 12 hours or never. Or, at the very least, it should then never be on the SA because it couldn’t be preloaded because it wasn’t there to begin with. -
Yes, we use MOOSE Airboss for this. It will steer the boat around islands. It also opens recovery windows and turns the boat to give you wind down the angle. Adds marshal capabilities as well as Alternate grading to the SuperCarrier. https://flightcontrol-master.github.io/MOOSE_DOCS_DEVELOP/Documentation/Ops.Airboss.html

We had the same thing in CASE III when a couple of guys (me included) missed a step on the way down. It never ‘cleared’ us out of the stack, and going forward all base levels for marshal were higher than they should have been. Should be some sort of logic ‘If player x lands, then remove player x from the marshal’ even if there is no LSO grade recognized.

Fantastic approach to getting help on the forums.

Wicked pass Big10!!

We tried it again a couple of nights ago, and things worked as they should. However, it doesn’t appear SC marshal has a way to clear aircraft out of the stack if they’ve left to resume own navigation or missed a step. In large perpetual servers, this could compound and cause issues. It would be good if there was a way to clear the queue to reset things.

Thanks for the SC update Bankler, BZ!

missing info LSO calls "You're slow" when on speed AOA in F-14
TonyG replied to goodman.od.ua's topic in Bugs and Problems
If he’s on speed AoA, with or without DLC it shouldn’t be triggering a slow call. The actual speed isn’t what the LSO is commenting on, it’s the AoA in the groove. If the AoA is correct, it doesn’t matter what speed it’s at, just that it’s on-speed for the given configuration. -
Here’s a pass I did with a 16 second groove length. Started 1.2 NM abeam, rolled in abeam the LSO platform. My turn was fairly consistent but I did steepen the bank based on my feel at the 90°. Probably a bit too much AOB as I wind up with a LUL call from the DCS LSO. I make a couple of glances at the platform starting about 3 mins in, maybe that can give you a bit of a sight picture. GB, any comments on the pass are welcome. I shoot for ~1.1-1.2nm from the carrier at 90° at 470’. I always work with TCN distance because it’s a consistent number. Aim to cross the wake around 0.9nm and 370’. The other grading (and the groove time) comes from MOOSE Airboss w3oikd2Mt_Y

My go at the SHB in DCS to the SuperCarrier. Comments welcome. Little LO at the start.

Grades are held on the server side in the DCS.log file. That’s the only place I’ve found them for MP so far.

Come check out our group. We’ve got a few gun guys, I’m a car guy, and we do lots of boat flying. I can talk you through some of the MOOSE stuff and it looks like we’re both Pacific Time Zone. Link is in my sig to our website and there’s a discord link on the site.

We’re using Airboss to drive the carrier into the wind and provide 25 knots of WOD down the angle. We’re not using any of the canned ED missions. We have varying wind and weather conditions with 5 different missions that cycle every 4 hours. While the carrier speed differs, the WOD is within 1-2 knots of 25.

Hopefully we’ll see the SuperHornet/Growler mod out soon and it’ll help fill up the decks.

Yup, I agree. I submitted as a bug. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=274377 I’m in the 70s for scoring on Banklers mission and routinely grade Unicorns in Airboss, and other than the EG calls lots of _OK_ from SC. I don’t spot the deck or otherwise cut my throttles to land. I am seeing way more EG calls than I think there should be.
-
Yes, final bearing. CASE III, everything is given in relation to Final Bearing, not BRC.
-
Definitely a different feel IC behind the boat. It seems ‘liftier’ there. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the burble would cause a sinking event as it blocks the wind coming down the angle for a few seconds. As that wind comes off the wings, I’d expect a little settle. Seems to almost be the opposite. https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/5433/b9628e9b547ff685a2e22fb218d9fd62d40e.pdf?_ga=2.106639489.347595032.1590123003-1454110769.1590123003

Without understanding the code behind it, it seems the EG call is too sensitive. A number of pilots in our group have been working on carrier landings for quite some time, and we're seeing more than our fair share of EG calls. We all have our throttles in constant motion to stay on GS, and believe think that this is contributing to sensing the throttles coming back, despite being at mil by the time we hit the deck. Even with the throttles at mil in the wires, I've received EGIW calls. Is anyone else seeing this? How is the LSO defining EGTL and EGIW, RPM? Did this come up during testing? I saw in Jar's video he got an EGIW, and he's made more than a few passes at the boat in DCS....

I set up a mission with 1500' ceiling, 10/10 opacity in rain with a 4000' thickness. After launch, when i called in to ATC, I received CASE I procedures. Is CASE II still a WIP, or should it be detecting solid OVC conditions requiring an IFR descent? Per NATOPs This approach shall be utilized when weather conditions are such that the flight may encounter instrument conditions during the descent, but visual conditions of at least 1,000 feet ceiling and 5 miles visibility exist at the ship.
