Vikhr Underwhelming Damage against Airbourne targets
Nickkerkwijk replied to Go_dzilla's topic in Bugs and Problems
I think there is a problem with the AI damage model. Heli and airplanes eat multiple air to ground missiles but wil crash after a aim9 or r73 hit with a much smaller warhead -
A quick little update, i installed the new upgradekit and the performance is so much better. No more stuttering or crashes even with a high preset. The 5600x is a very good cpu for dcs imo and i will upgrade my old watercooled 980 in the nearby future

Thanks LucShep, i'm buying the upgradekit and will search for a good GPU

Hello guys, after playing DCS for about 4 years on my ancient PC i think it is time for an upgrade. My current pc specs are: -I5 3570K -16GB RAM -GTX980 HydroCopper with watercooling I play at a 32 inch 1080P monitor and my settings are medium/low with all the fancy stuff off and a always present annoying 5 seconds interval stutter. I'm always short on time so i only fly a few hours a week, so i don't want to spend big money (like 2000 euro's) on a upgrade. I also only play DCS. I can buy a fairly new upgradekit from a friend of mine for around 400 euro's: -Ryzen 5 5600x -B550 Gaming Plus Motherboard -3200 32GB RAM - For now my old GTX980 HC + 1080P monitor Now i'm wondering if this is a 'smart' upgrade for not much money, or would it be much smarter to spend a few hundred euro's more on a better upgrade? I used to know a few things about PC hardware, but this was around the time when a HD4870 was the top of the line GPU As long as i can play medium/high settings with a little more detail (like in some DCS trailers) and a lot less stuttering then i'll be happy Thanks in advance

Hi, i recently saw a video on YT where the Urkainian army shot down a Russian Kalibre cruisemissile with a MANPAD. All the odds have to be in the shooters favor but is this or will this be possible in DCS? I never considerd to take down a cruisemissile with a MANPAD, but now i have seen it it does make sense. The missile has a hot jet engine and it is flying most of the time in a straight line

Is one of these AA Su30 models capable of using TWS? And how do you use it?
-
Datalink pod is always needed with the AKG. I think they mean is that the missile want be doing constant loops and flying into space if launched without the pod

Hi, yes i know but getting the warning from a F5e seems odd to me. I will test this further and will post a track

Hi, since a few days i've noticed multiple times that i get a laser receiver warning from radar SAMsystems and fighter radars. Last night for example i got the warning while i was hovering at a friendly airport while the airdefence (Roland) was engaging an enemy F5e. Earlier i also got the warning when there was a dogfight between a Su27 and a F15 a few miles behind me while there were no enemy units nearby I know you can get the warning when a fighter is attacking you but these times it felt like a bug to me Has anyone else noticed this?

known AI has godtier aim
Nickkerkwijk replied to Gungho's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
I agree with you 100%. Its understandable that radar guided AAA are accurate in shooting down aircraft, but the way BMP's/ IFV and sometimes even BTR's can snipe you out of the cockpit can't be right and need some tweaking imo. -
I think you forget to push the CLDP button. After that you must turn on the Tgp on the pod page and after some time you can uncage the pod. Iirc you can use the pod on the ground without problems

Super ships in the Marianas map
Nickkerkwijk replied to CaptScotty's topic in Sea/Navy AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
The ships damage model is really bad atm, i believe they are going to get reworked but it will take a lot of time -
Hi, because we dont have a Russian multirole fighter i was wondering if it is at least possible to add some laser guided bombs (kab/fab 500L) to the Russian fighters. I know they don't have self targetting capabilities, but with a JTAC it would really boost the air to ground capabilities. Just like the F/A 18C used GBU 12's before it got the Litening a few years back. I don't know if the old Flankers we have even used laser guided bombs in real life before the SM upgrades, but it would make the Flankers for me so much more fun to use. If it is realistic ofcourse

I think Vikhr, it is a more modern missile. Better range (around 8km, Ataka around 5-6 km) and also an air to air variant/option
-
I agree 100%. The AI will 99 % of the time see the launch and evade it with flares.. so better take 2 extra O's I think the R60 will only work against players

Isn't the BDU 33 a training bomb without a warhead?

JF17 training mission with antiship missile fails
Nickkerkwijk replied to skypickle's topic in Weapon Bugs
There is a problem with this anti ship missile at the moment, it can't find targets with its own radar and they are working on a fix iirc -
Hi, usually when flying the Hind with enemy all seeing AI fighters in the AO you had around 0% chance to make it out alive. But now with the 9M120O missile the fighters really have to watch out for the Hind. The AI is flying a very liniar trajectory towards you which makes it easy to shoot them down with only one missile, if you can spot them ofcourse. I always load at least 2 of these missiles so you aren't completely dependent on friendly CAP

fixed ADM-141A TALD no wings and no collision
Nickkerkwijk replied to draconus's topic in Weapon Bugs
I can confirm, in a MP server yesterday i saw 3 or 4 times TALD going underground and keep going for at least 30 minutes -
I own both helicopters and the KA50 is not trying to kill you as much as the Hind. Once you learn how to use the trimmer and autopilot functions the KA50 it is a very stable helicopter. The KA50 is completely different to fly because it doesnt have a tail rotor and has a lot of systems to make it stable. Also with 16 Vikhr missiles, a laser rangefinder and 40 S8 rockets it can take out a lot of targets. The Hind is a much older airframe and doesn't have all the fancy modern systems like the KA50, but in my opinion it is more rewarding to complete a mission in the Hind because it is a lot harder to control. The Shturm and Ataka missiles are also a bit less effective. If the target area has a Tor or Tunguska protecting it you will have a hard time in the Hind because of the short missile range. If you have the option to buy both, i would recommend it

If you want a challenge (also for the PC) you can join the K-0-1 server on the Syria map. Its almost always PVE and you have to complete a lot of sectors and objectives. You must clear some areas of armour and SAMsites and after that you can call in the ground troops to take an airfield for example. This mission can keep you busy for a looong time

Its already known by the devs and it is WIP ATM. Hopefully fixed soon because it is indeed a useless weapon against a modern ship.

missing info Petrovic won't fire the 5th atgm
Nickkerkwijk replied to DenTroge's topic in Bugs and Problems
I always use preset loadouts, but i think it happens if you first launch 1 or 2 missiles, and then switch to rockets.. If you select the missile again after the rocket run it fails sometimes at the fifth missile -
reported Petrovic does not track helicopters when they fly
Nickkerkwijk replied to cha5er's topic in Bugs and Problems
There is an (MI-24) Ataka missile video on youtube where they explain the uses of the missile. Air to air use is also 1 of the aspects of the Ataka so i think Petrovic should be able to target helos -
missing info Petrovic won't fire the 5th atgm
Nickkerkwijk replied to DenTroge's topic in Bugs and Problems
Is this bug already reported? I also experienced it multiple times in MP. Petro does lock the target with the fifth missile, but there is no tone and the missile wont launch..
