Sono tante le cose che andrebbero cambiate in DCS... il fatto che sostanzialmente sia l'unico simulatore militare di una certa profondità in qualche modo vincola noi appassionati a farci andar bene quello che c'è, perchè come dicono qui in Romagna: "piutóst che nient l’è mej piutóst".

I'm well aware of this: DCS is a simulator because it aims to make people understand how a military airplane works and what is the workflow required to a pilot; in that sense DCS truly is a simulator. But it's also a game, since its target is the civilians, who play/fly it on a home PC, with gaming hotas devices. It's not a tool for military training, and in that sense it's also a game. For this reason I have nothing against the Ka-50 III, even if it does not really exist IRL: a Ka-52 cannot be made and the new version adds fun and gameplay to an already very high quality product, so I bought the upgrade immediately. I also can understand that you do not have the same amount of publicly available data for all the aircrafts. As for the f-16, I would simply hope that its level of simulation would not be dissimilar to other consumer F-16 simulators available around (without naming it, there is just another one anyway).

20 bucks is twice the a-10c II upgrade, so I think we agree...

Era da un po' che non lanciavo DCS e ieri mi sono fatto un voletto col 339. Colgo l'occasione per chiedere anch'io un suggerimento per VR: con Quest 3, qual'è il metodo di collegamento migliore per ottimizzare le performance in DCS? 1. quest link via cavo (ho il cavo ufficiale di meta) 2. quest link wireless 3. wireless usando virtual desktop (ho messo un router wifi 6e a pochi passi dalla postazione) Ieri ho usato il metodo 3, però potendoli fare tutti e 3 ed essendo comunque vincolato ad un cavo (quello del pointCTRL) vorrei usare il metodo migliore, se si sa già qual è senza che debba impiegare del tempo per fare prove. Col noto simulatore civile dalla grafica bella sembra che il metodo migliore sia il 3, ma con DCS? Le mie specifiche sono: Ryzen 7 5800X, 32 GB RAM, 3080ti. Grazie.

When A-10C and Ka-50 came out ED had only those two modules, so they could concentrate on the minutiae, which is what made us fall in love with DCS: the extreme accuracy in details. Now maybe they've grown up, but we have: f/a-18c, f-16c, ah-64d, plus a long series of aircrafts and helicopters that are certainly easier to simulate as they are less complex in avionics, but which still need to be maintained and bug fixed over time. Maybe ED no longer has time to go into as much detail as when there were only a-10c and ka-50. Perhaps they chose to focus more on quantity, partially sacrificing quality. Certainly the frenzy of users to buy everything that comes out in early access has not helped to make it clear what we really want from DCS. As far as I'm concerned, I'd prefer to see fewer modules, but a return of those few at the same a-10c and ka-50 quality ED has amply demonstrated to be capable of and which we have been used to.

Just to be clear: I'd be happy and gladly pay for any mig-21 version, BUT I'm ready to pay also for an upgrade of the current mig-21bis, even twice the price I've paid for a-10c 2 or ka-50 3, provided that the upgrade is made with the same fidelity of the other DCS modules.

Un f-16c e un f-16a sono due macchine con prestazioni, avionica, profili missione del tutto differenti quindi non credo si farebbero concorrenza tra loro: in pratica sono due aerei diversi; in ogni caso: per cui il problema al momento non si pone. Però, per fare un altro esempio, anche ED mi pare abbia ventilato l'ipotesi di fare in futuro un f-15c full-fidelity, facendolo loro e non affidandolo a razbam che ha lo strike eagle (sempre ammesso che razbam sarà ancora con la ED quando e se dovessero fare il 15c), per cui non sarei così convinto che due versioni diverse non potrebbero essere fatte da diversi sviluppatori.

Sicuro? Perché da qualche parte si speculava addirittura su un f-16a fatto da IFE...

I - as everyone else here - know nothing except official statemets, nevertehless it's quite weird that ED is short of money and does not pay 3rd party devs, but the only one affected being Razbam. Either ED particularly dislikes Razbam, or something does not add up. What is blatantly clear, though, is that the 3rd party involved - as usual when there is a mess - is Razbam. Those who announced tons of modules with just a picture, from the av-8b plus to the amx, and no one knows what happened to those modules; those who put the av-8b out of early access being it clearly unfinished, and that anomaly is still there despite the popular uprising. Maybe it's all ED's fault against honest workers forced to work for free, but there must be a reason why, when there is a mess, Razbam is always involved...

E io che mi lamentavo del fatto che l'av-8b il manuale non ce l'ha! Purtroppo oggi come oggi chissà se lo avrà mai... Immagino che i piani di IFE per il futuro ormai siano fatti, ma se potessi suggerire un aereoplano: bello, americano ma anche italiano, che per vendere venderebbe e che comprerei come se non di più dell'AMX... beh io direi fate l'av-8b plus!

Sarà come dici tu, ma io lessi che ai tempi della guerra in Jugoslavia gli unici velivoli che mandavano avanti il conflitto erano gli a-10 e gli amx, e visto il mio amore per l'a-10 e un po' di sano campanilismo io un amx me lo comprerei subito; d'altra parte se siamo in pochi è anche giusto indirizzare altrove gli sforzi di sviluppo. Ci accontenteremo di 339 e G91. Beh non direi proprio. A parte che si possono fare versioni diverse degli stessi aerei: un f-16a, un f-15c o anche un a-10a (perchè no) in full fidfelity avrebbero un loro perchè: avionica più semplice e prestazioni migliori visto che non sono appesantiti da tutta la "paccottiglia" multiruolo che è stata aggiunta nelle versioni successive: per gli amanti dell'aria-aria (o anche solo delle prestazioni esaltanti) a mio avviso piacerebbero. Ma poi c'è tutta la century series, l'intruder, l'f-8. Per non parlare di cose più "di nicchia", se vogliamo, ma visto che c'è il c-130 perchè no: f-117 (ammesso che si possa fare), f-111, b1, b-52, insomma chi più ne ha più ne metta, e questo solo per restare sugli americani, se davvero sono i soli che vendono. Addirittura su steam c'è una recensione (l'ho vista ieri, cercatela) in cui il tizio si lamenta perchè gli sembra assurdo dover leggere un manuale per poter giocare a un videogioco Prima vogliono l'aereoplano, perchè fa fico, poi si lamentano se l'aereoplano è difficile: a questo punto consiglierei il tetris, o puzzle bobble, e di lasciar perdere con i simulatori di volo...

NineLine has been cristal clear here: a module can be: - in early access: insufficient state of completion. Case 1: ah-64: supported and then further developed; case 2: f-15e: currently unsupported and then refundable, the aim being to have it supported again. - out of early access: sufficient state of completion. Case 1: supported (f/a-18, a-10c, f-5e, ecc.) then you can expect further development as far as DCS progresses, being it payware (a-10c II) or already included in the initial purchase (f/a-18). Case 2: currently unsupported (m2000c, av-8b, mig-19): no further development but at least bug fix provided by ED to keep it as it is, the aim being to have it supported again. I'm not so confident in the long term survival of modules out of early access but unsupported; as it is now it's a transitory condition, we will see what will happen if the condition becomes definitive. Obviously not, if the bad review is about the f-15e and not DCS as a whole. I would also not recommend a finished product with no dev support, such as the other RB's modules, even if formally completed. For me at their current state thumb down for av-8b, mig-19 and m2000c too. And I'm not a hater, still thumb up for DCS as a whole.

As far as the AV-8B is concerned, it was in RB's plan to overhaul and complete it in a similar way as they have done for the m2000c after it went out of early access. So if there was no dispute at all, for sure the AV-8B features would have changed and improved in the next months/years. Nevertheless, it's true the AV-8B is out of early access, so if ED can assure it will remain as is even in the future DCS upgrades, this is rather than nothing. And as they use to say in my town: rather than nothing, it is better rather.

Io ho un ryzen 5800x e una 3080ti. Il monitor è un 1440p wide, ma io dcs lo uso solo in VR, con un quest 3. Per reggerlo lo regge, io però volo quasi solo single player e non faccio missioni multy con centinaia di assets in campo. Più che altro, se devi cambiare tutto il PC, converrebbe chiedersi se non abbia senso ormai aspettare l'uscita delle rtx 50xx, e costruire tutto il pc su quelle. La mia configurazione regge, ma contrariamente a Manreisen non so se andrò avanti per un bel po': con l'uscita delle rtx 50 valuterò, ma non mi dispiacerebbe un upgrade completo, con tanto di ram ddr5 e quant'altro. Si vedrà.

Since I replaced the Reverb G2 with a Quest 3, I'm flying DCS wirelessly using virtual desktop and a wifi 6e router, still I'm bound to the usb cable of the pointctrl hms. I was wondering if some sort of mod could be implemented to transform the pointctrl hms device from a wired mouse to a wireless one. Any idea or suggestion?

I really hope for a mig-21bis upgrade, something similar to the a-10c2 and ka-50iii, and I agree they have to prioritize it: maybe just after the f4d but surely before a ceii upgrade. Unfirtunately, since leatherneck split in HB and M3, the former developed f-14 and f-4 phantom, and the latter just the ceii, so I'm not so confident.

Se è per riempire il vuoto hai ragione tu; ma siccome dcs è un sandbox non esiste un vuoto da riempire anche perché non esiste un pieno (non esistono mappe contestualizzate al periodo storico, ww2 a parte e con molti limiti anche lì): DCS offre simulazioni molto dettagliate di singoli velivoli sganciati da ogni contesto. E allora in questo senso preferisco vedere un f-117, un sr-71 o un tu-95 piuttosto che un mig-23 o un su-22; mi sbaglierò ma credo anche che i primi tre avrebbero molto più mercato degli ultimi 2.

I agree, but Razbam being more screwed than ED, since DCS keeps going with other modules and 3rd party developers. The more modules will arrive in the next months / years, the less the absence of Razbam's will be relevant. Within 3 years we will be occupied to fly the hercules, the eurofighter or maybe the intruder (who knows) and everybody will no longer care about the strike eagle doom, be it a persistently unfinished module or a deprecated one.

Se vogliamo parlare di sogni a me, oltre al già citato f117, non dispiacerebbe vedere un sr-71 o un tu-95. Altri due mezzi dal profilo missione assolutamente inadatto all'ambiente dcs, ma vedere simulati i motori dei due mezzi in questione con la dovizia di particolari tipica del mondo dcs da solo varrebbe il prezzo del biglietto...

In my opinion it all depends on what Razbam is doing: if they have access to the development tools and are continuing to develop their modules, even if they do not publish updates due to the ongoing dispute, then when the dispute is resolved a big update will come out all at once and we will be back on track. If, on the other hand, Razbam has suspended the work altogether, when the dispute is over, even if favorable for them, the razbam modules will be dead and buried and it is very unlikely that they will be able to recover. Since some users claim to be close to Razbam, can they share information about which of these two scenarios? Are they still working or not?

Vero è che DCS nasce come simulatore moderno e a me non dispiacciono affatto i moduli moderni (sono un grande amante dell'a-10 e mi spiace leggere che l'AMX sarebbe un modulo impopolare perchè io lo comprerei a mani basse), tuttavia nel campo del moderno la giocabilità (per usare un termine che andava di moda una volta) è abbastanza limitata: moduli orientali sovrapponibili ai vari f-16, f-18 e apache non se ne possono fare; aggiunto il tornado e l'eurofighter cosa rimane? Non mi dispiacerebbe vedere un f-117, più per le tecnologie che incorpora che per il relativo gameplay, peraltro abbastanza modesto visto che in sostanza si tratterebbe di infiltrarsi senza essere visti e sganciare un'unica bomba su un bersaglio sensibile; ma in ogni caso da "giocare" sul moderno rimane veramente poco. Il 346 perchè? Per avere un full-glass cockpit? E poi per farne cosa? Sbaglierò, ma a mio modo di vedere il futuro di DCS non può che stare nella cold war: aerei più semplici da sviluppare dove anche la parte orientale sarebbe fattibile, periodo storico pieno di mezzi iconici e giocabilità decisamente superiore, senza tanti hud e schermi digitali, dove per sganciare una bomba devi essere preciso e dove gli occhi e l'abilità del pilota contano molto di più dei monitor. Insomma un periodo che sarebbe molto più divertente anche da giocare, a patto di farlo nel giusto setting e con gli assets opportuni. A me piacerebbe così. Poi sbaglierò, perchè ho il dubbio che alla maggior parte dell'utenza piaccia vincere facile, salendo virtualmente sul mezzo più avanzato (e quindi avvantaggiato) che c'è. E se sono questi i mezzi che vendono è verosimile che saranno questi che vedremo sviluppati.
