  2. The thing is when facing US operations, they can send thousands of HARM. More than 2 000 during Desert Storm,743 during Kosovo, over 400 for Iraqi Freedom. Sure the SAM systems can turn off emissions to loose the missile. But while we strive for the kill in game, having the SAM turned off is good enough to allow the strikers to do their job IRL.:smilewink: Sure they are trying to improve by going from SEAD (Suppression Of Ennemi Air Defense) to DEAD (Destruction of Ennemi Air Defense), but that's not the AGM-88C we have in game...
  3. Just for the record, chaffs & flares wouldn't be that much useful Vs HARM. And yes, HARM has loft profile to increase range, like AA missiles (simplified version) :smilewink:
  4. I think this story is interesting. As a summary, there are things US Navy didn't do with Hornet because USA did have better platforms or dedicated squadrons, or USAF or whatever. But an export customer who doesn't have all these options may try to use a wider array of capacity from the jet. And like LastRifleRound said, what's the problem if we want to practice something that is built in the jet but not used anymore because other tools are available since then ?
  5. At least, give ships separated radars for EW, STR and maybe CIWS, and make those radar destroyable should be doable within reasonable time frame.

  7. No, off course. I was talking about strike/ AI. But lately, we are often reading the AG radar isn’t used in combat mission. I’m just saying this is because since 2001 most western air forces are mainly doing CAS.
  8. Have you ever heard about F/A-18D ? Yes, squadrons don’t always use the full set of possibilities of their aircraft. So what ? Does it mean that EXP 3 wouldn’t be available on F/A-18C because they spent the last years doing CAS missions ? Since Desert Storm only the F-15E is remaining. So there may be a shortage of dedicated assets and crew... And the SAR mode isn’t specific to low altitude. So I don’t see the necessity of 2 man crew to use it.

  10. Yes, but they have mainly be doing CAS in open air space for 20 years. Try to perform AI in GPS denied environment and inclement weather and radar will become much more useful. :smilewink: There is reason why they still worked on it on F-35. Off course, they improved it to another level.
  11. Ships radar system are overly simplified. IRL you should be able to take out radars. But currently in game, there is one radar per ship, and your HARM is just damaging ship's health bar... It's a gameplay killer IMHO, you can't really support Harpoon strike by attacking ship's radar with HARM to deny defense. Russian warship typically have multiple radars, almost one per function.

  13. ATFLIR is WIP. Litening 2 was already present in game (A-10C and Harrier 2) and is also in use for several Hornet users (Marines amongst them). It's there waiting for ATFLIR, but I think we will have the choice. No reason to remove Lietning once ATFLIR is ready.
  14. There is one thing to notice when engaging HQ-7, I had STR radar on RWR, I destroyed it with HARM. But I was engaged without RWR warning. The HQ-7 LN were probably using optical tracking, which gives no warning without MLWS, and won't attract HARM on HQ-7 LN :music_whistling: +1 with SOI issue. Sensor Control Switch affect SOI amongst DDI, MPCD and HUD. On DDI & MPCD this is displayed with diamond displayed on top right corner.

  16. Read post #2 and watch post #4. It isn't on Razbam. M-2000C and F-16 airframes break at X G force as needed. Currently wake turbulence generate a ridiculous amount of G force and slaughter FPS if numerous aircrafts are in flight. We are better without it.

  19. It seems to be fixed in Open Beta at least. CNM neutral return to previous mode from MAG or CAN. If you had 530 selected you have to unselect by clicking PCA button.
  20. If I pre-select TWS and azimuth steering AUTO on OSB13, without L&S target, radar elevation axis become inoperative. I don’t know if it normal of it’s a bug ? If you start to crank after locking a target in TWS without AUTO, you can easily loose the track. Pre-selecting AUTO would ease the work load. It’s logical to not have radar elevation control with L&S target, but why not with clear scope ?

  23. The problem is that they simulated a spring loaded return to center axis, but no HOTAS on the market has that kind of axis (at best Winwing HOTAS, but that's >800$).:music_whistling:

  25. Yes it does. Also the radar cursor lock is now pretty much ok in PPI as explained by Zeus67. I just had difficulty near the edge in PPI, but not a big deal.
