  1. Thanks for the link , very interesting .
  2. As i understand it , Vulkan and multithreading are two entirely different things . The API will improve frametimes by unloading the CPU due to pre-cached shaders in the VRAM , making draw calls easier on the CPU . The only hardware consideration when readying for Vulcan is more VRAM , to accommodate the pre-cache .
  3. TrackIr likes 120 hz , 60 hz , or 30 hz . Anything between will cause micro-stuttering when turning your head . At 4k , you'd prolly be best at 60hz , as you're often not going to maintain 120 .
  4. I am not making excuses for this company . What they have done is inexcusable . I am merely trying to provide rational alternatives to your paranoic "anti-american" statement .
  5. Appeared update before last . A muffled "boom" as afterburner kicks in . I like it when climbing out after a pass particularly , when i am concentrating on SA and don't have time for IFEI monitoring .
  6. I guess i'm that guy . For me , performance is slightly better in the latest Open Beta . It now is at least as good as 2.55 and prolly better , and with the Litening working generally better . Still some new bugs , and a few old ones , but overall a positive step for me . Also not experiencing the protracted loading times some have reported .
  7. I rather doubt that . My view is that they're on a shoestring budget and that shipping from EU would be prohibitive . Also , EU has stronger consumer protection laws , which is prolly a factor in prioritising them . Stated US deliveries from China are either waiting on enough orders for a factory batch , or are a victim of the huge Covid-related shipping backlog , or of filling a container or all of the above .
  8. I do think you are on the right track re: CPU . Even at stock clock , the K offers substantially better performance . Stock Intel cooler won't cut it though . Figure $50-$75 dollars for a decent air cooler . Upgrading the memory later would also prove beneficial .
  9. I would ! Like many others , i would prefer to see core improvements before any more features , maps or modules . If that means paying for 3.0 , i'm all in . As it stands in VR , we have had features introduced that we are reluctant to choose to use , either because the implementations are severely compromised trying to maintain performance , (default shadows , lod's , ) or direct performance impacts (mirrors , clouds , ai , statics , aa , etc , etc) . Give me Vulkan , multithreading and VR optimisation before any more pretties i can't use , modules that fly from airfields with godawful shimmering or new maps with further performance penalties .
  10. It certainly is a bug . I just don't know if it is Windows or DCS . Moved the taskbar to left , never clicked anything on left , OOF came up while looking straight ahead . Oculus the only other program running , and it was minimised . Alt+Enter makes no difference either . The Escape KEY has also triggered it .
  11. Hornet instrument and console lights now non-functional ??
  12. Not what i'm seeing . Minimising , alt+enter , cursor confined make not the slightest difference . Never had this problem before...
  13. Choose a switch on your hotas to set as a modifier for each aircraft . If you wish a second function , assign it in conjunction with the modifier . The modifier acts as a toggle in-game so don'forget to hit it again to toggle the modifier off . Do you really want a snapview setting in VR ?
  14. Sounds like he was having a baby....I don't need that either .
  15. Use Windows screenshot . PrtScr on most keyboards .
  16. No , i am saying that the trackball is always in the same physical space-no fumbling for it . I personally like the cursor moving with your head , but it is obvious some don't .
  17. A trackball offers the advantage of always being in the same place while in VR .
  18. It might be helpful to state what country you're in ...
  19. Use Skatezilla :) i close it as soon as i see the "logging in" screen . No overhead . I really don't get the "command line" bs . It offers no advantage but the opportunity for a syntax error . Technology is supposed to work for us , not the other way 'round
  20. Unfortunate reputation re quality . [Edit] sniped !
  21. You might try a pm to dburne . He has experience with the various pieces of that puzzle .
  22. Another Rift S user that will be getting the G2 .
  23. Not to my knowledge , but windows will put usb's to sleep . Check usb power settings .
