  1. You're asking this question on a VR forum , so expect a bias in the answers . For my part , i've never flown with a monitor since getting the CV1 , let alone the much better visuals of the Rift S . (30 years of flightsimming here) .
  2. Windows is very easy to install , Winaero is a good utility to streamline the OS and Nvidea settings require minimal changes from default . BIOS settings as well . And Britec's channel on YT is an invaluable resource for pc tuning .
  3. It is an amazing experience at this moment (and when i was running an I5-6500 , 16gb ram and a CV1) . I'm glad i did not wait . But yes , we all look forward to it getting even better .
  4. The pc I built (below) costed $1400+ WITHOUT a new gpu . Prolly will be $2300 with a 3080 when i upgrade (2700 if decide on a ti) . My advice would be to continue saving while waiting for Ampere/RDNA2 to arrive later this year to get the best bang for your gpu buck .
  5. I think the haze ( as well as mono-rendering) may be "optimisations" of VR performance . Until Vulkan is fully implemented , i fear any VR framerate improvements will come at the expense of "robbing Peter to pay Paul" .
  6. Yeah , there couldn't be a greater disparity in development effort between the Reverb and RiftS .

  8. And that is quite the achievement given the competition :)
  9. There is a LOT of performance headroom available by decreasing some settings that shouldn't prove painful . You prolly won't see a difference with terrain textures low at 1080p , cockpit shadows low . Heat blur off , trees at 70% (every tree casts a shadow) . Try chimney smoke at 1 as well . And yes , a SSD and clean install will be very helpful , not least because pagefile and terrain loads . However , i would consider 32gb memory for mp as perhaps even more beneficial than an SSD .
  10. I have the Rift S , and it ran decently with an I5-6500 , 16gb ddr4-2133 and a 1070 . Audio sucks , and fixed ipd , but the graphics are much better than a CV1 , with almost exactly the same performance due to the 80hz vs 90 hz refresh rate . Still running it on the new pc , (same gpu) pending a G2 upgrade .
  11. IMO the 3080 will likely be worth waiting for . The extra 2 gig of VRAM will prove helpful when Vulkan drops , which should be in the 30xx life cycle .
  12. 32 gb ram is generallly considered mandatory for mp particularly .
  13. Axis tune , check "slider" ?
  14. These forums sure have been entertaining lately....
  15. You can bind the TiR re-center to a hotas button .
  16. Search for "HELIOS"
  17. The FW modules i fly (Hornet , Albatross) have the pilot body , and i find it much increases the immersion in VR . And yes , i do occasionally have to remove it momentarily via Hotas to access a switch , usually on startup . I very much appreciate the feature , and support the OP wish , although i have no opinion on difficulty of an effective implementation .
  18. Regarding pitch trim , trim as close as possible , then adjust throttle for perfect trim .
  19. The most obvious manifestation is loss of controller inputs .
  20. Is it VoiceAttack losing focus ? Or the well-known problem of DCS losing focus ? VA uses the active window , and when DCS loses focus VA doesn't work ? Many posts regarding DCS losing focus in VR/issues subforum . Fix seems to be moving position of taskbar .
