Hope I'm not going too off topic but the thing they did with the hind pre-order by stating clearly on the shop page which features would be ready on launch and which features would be coming further down the road seemed like a really good thing to me. Let's still wait until launch to see if it's accurate but hey, seems to be a great step into that direction. On the topic of the Apache, because it is a more complex module systems wise, I still hope they can be as precise as possible with what people are going to get on launch day (which mfd pages are working, which systems are fully operational or not...). I believe this could solve a lot of the problems, of course it probably won't shield them entirely if they launch the module in a stupidly barebones state like they did with the viper (no external lights, no basic damage model etc...)

reported AI A-10C II Tank Killer will not engage infantry with APKWS
notproplayer3 replied to EasyEB's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes, I've been having this issue too. I'd also add, even though I can't record the track at the moment, that the ai a10c II will engage tanks with apkws even if they've got agm's and gbu's making the attacks totally useless until they run out of apkws rockets and switch to better weapons. -
DCS: MiG-25RBT Mod Announcement
notproplayer3 replied to cosmicdoubloon's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Any mig25 is fine, I just want study level if possible. Of course, if it stays a mod and ressources are limited, I'd still be happy to play the way it is and probably donate for this cause but ideally, I'd wish for it to be a complete DCS level simulation for which case, I'd go straight for it no matter the price. -
It's been ~4 open beta updates and still nothing from what it seems

Never tested pedals and my point of view could change the moment I get pedals but I am totally enjoying every helicopter (apart from the gazelle) with the twist stick (and now using the wheel on the side of my twcs throttle because the twisty axis stopped working). Hovering is indeed hard but I just about manage to do that. I also must add that at first I hated helos, perhaps with pedals I wouldn't have hated them as much, but with time I got used to the twisty stick and now they are literally my favorite aircraft to simply fly around, even more so than the f/a-18 or f16 that inherently don't require much rudder input in flight.

Perfect ! Learning the RIO seat is really something that can be quite fun at first and it sure will benefit other f14 pilots in multiplayer.
-
My two cents: Both are excellent with the f14 being the most polished of the two but from a pure gameplay perspective, if you exclusively play single player as I do, you may find that the F14 isn't actually as fun to use in combat, why ? Because you are flying the plane but you won't interact with a lot of combat systems, the only thing you'll do is telling jester to lock up an enemy and then shoot and that's about it. Sure you can move seats and try to do everything yourself but it will break the immersion. That's in my opinion the core disadvantage of twin seaters with totally independent stations from a singleplayer gameplay perspective. The f16c on the other hand, you'll interact with all of the systems in your plane to make yourself a combat machine, you are the one in control of everything and it makes it frankly more interesting to do combat in. Are you planning to do that in multiplayer ? It's very hard in my opinion to get good combat practice in single player with the RIO because the pilot AI simply can't fly as you want him to fly in combat. Sure you can learn how to operate everything in the RIO seat but you won't have much fun if you can't use those skills in proper missions right ?

I purchased Modules, but their not showing up in DCS

There was another person with same exact problem as you, I believe the problem was the anti virus that cought a gazelle .dll file. -
Thanks a lot @vigilante87 for this precise and very informative response, I really appreciate it ! And thank you @bradmick for another very useful thread (and document) !

Question: so is it safe to assume the ah64D is going to be more hotas reliant than the a10c? If so will there be that much more hotas functions or it's still gonna stay pretty similar hotas workload wise is combat missions ? I mean, from what I see in the a10c, you've got to select the screen you want, then slew the tgp, zoom, and mark it as a spi (and point track). Then you use your guided weapons (slewing agm's to your spi) and voilà. Does the ah64D have the same procedure for acquiring and shooting down targets or is it totally different/more complicated ?

Gazelle is completely frozen when game starts.

You're welcome, glad it worked out for you ! -
Gun-turret... nothing else... just a gun-turret... no turret - no buy :-)
notproplayer3 replied to -Mop-'s topic in Wish List
I swear to god you are either obsessed or either trolling. It has nothing to do with the ah64, the fact is that the most produced variant of the ULTIMATE gunship helicopter, the hind, is the mi24v that has a movable turret. -

notproplayer3 replied to hakulus's topic in Bugs and Problems
What does it say in the module manager ? And perhaps has your anti-virus cought any file from the gazelle? It might be. Sorry if I haven't got anything more precise to tell you. You could also jump to polychop's discord to ask the same question, they're usually more active there. -

You cleaned and repaired so seems weird, I mean, it may be totally obvious to ask but is it safe to assume you've got no mods ? -
I want to be a Tanker pilot and a Boomer!
notproplayer3 replied to BMGZ06's topic in DCS Core Wish List
You are right and I don't expect DCS developers to make a big support plane (perhaps the derived ka-6 from the a6 heatblur is maybe gonna do). But I still do think there is some appeal to those planes even for only single player folks such as me, a C130 is already pretty cool if you do hot LZ missions (similar logic as transport helos in DCS), the ka-6 or the s3b tanker aircraft are cool in my eyes because they are carrier operated and if you get to the really big tanker aircrafts such as the kc's, to me, they are a dream size wise and systems wise (I already like piloting commercial aircraft in different other sims so having the same flying is good). The ultimate dream would be to have fully crewable Awacs even for single player. These are American aircraft but I'd also like to see other countries support aircrafts. In any case, like you, it really isn't something that should be expected to arrive anytime soon (I hope this turns out to be wrong) but I really feel as if I could really enjoy those planes in single player. Combined arms integration seems like a a good idea, still, I don't see how the boom operator would be that interesting but why not hey ? ED should probably think about this regardless. -

notproplayer3 replied to BMGZ06's topic in DCS Core Wish List
This is what I would want to see, a flyable plane ! From my understanding this thread revolved around making the boom operator seat available to which I responded that I personally didn't see the appeal since all you'll be doing is sitting and waiting for planes to eventually come refuel. But making a whole module about a tanker plane is a whole different story. I'm all for it ! Heck, any support plane is interesting and they'll definitely be unique since only DCS offers this type of combat sandbox experience where support could have important roles but aren't yet flyable modules. -

notproplayer3 replied to BMGZ06's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I don't exactly see the appeal. Sure, for me at least, it'll be cool the first few days but wouldn't it get boring after some time ? It doesn't seem to be a very varied "gameplay". In any case I also must ask the question: what did you have in mind about this feature integration in DCS ? Is it going to be a paid module (somewhat like the supercarrier) with high fidelity clickability, or is it a feature in the base game with simple but accurate refueling simulation (somewhat like the free su25t) ? In both cases, I've got things I'd rather like to see more than refueling operations but hey, I'd still gladly take it if ED were to drop it down on us. -
Interesting but what resolution ? I play 1080P high settings (getting ~45fps in the caucasus) with a gtx970. Though I can see why my config is really starting to get bad with current DCS, Syria map is barely (sometimes isn't at all) playable because of the stutters. I guess Marianna's map will probably feel pretty bad too. Yeah, I guess you can really see the difference between old DCS (current Caucasus map) that runs totally fine and future DCS (Syria) that is barely playable. Makes sense to up the requirements, especially if the free Mariana's map is going to be hungry in resources. Now it's up to me to find a GPU in these ridiculous times (I kid you not, I laughed out loud when I found out the gtx 1070 was 800$ )

Flight Model Characteristics - Will I be disappointed?
notproplayer3 replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
Interesting you mentioned that, yes indeed, but like you said, it is hard to pull off. Just recently I realized that I could fly well enough to slow down like a huey but it took me first learning how to fly nice and slow before moving on to more aggressive techniques. -
Question to the gun loadout of the Mi-24P
notproplayer3 replied to Hajime's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
I'm not sure if it is entirely accurate but from what I see, most Russian hinds in Syria today are actually P models, plus, if I remember correctly, it's the second most produced model after the mi24v and stayed in production till the 90s which is pretty late for the "classic" mi24 family. I am not trying to draw any uneducated parallels but I could still blindly guess that the 20mm traversable turret wasn't necessarily the killer feature that was essential on the battlefield, hence the success of the P model until today in Syria for example (which, on a different note, gives sense to having the P variant because of the Syria map). -
@Katmandu @JG54_NF2Thank you both very much and sorry for not responding sooner, I just played this last mission again and this time for some reason it went much smoother than the last attempts. The slowing down is the technique that I used. A few words to conclude. Awesome campaign and story, very original for DCS ! Definitely gonna tune in for the next part. Again, thanks to everyone for taking the time to respond, your answers were all useful.
