Radar. I vote finishing the radar model before moving on to the F1M.

What spawn of Satan the P/S 2 connector is. I spend a good three hours trying to get the joystick hooked up. Still working on it.

My solution is to have a Virpil MongoosT-50CM3 mounted center with extension, and a Warthog Joystick mounted sideways.

Bailey or Pontoon?

Well to start with, you have emitters and receivers that transit or receive radio waves. Emitters transmit across certain frequency bands at a certain power. Radio waves decrease by an RW/r2 law. Receivers can pick up the radio waves and process the signal based on the amplitude of the received signal. Jammers are emitters that try to overpower a signal by overpowering it with their own jammer signal. I bet you know all of this Kalasnkova74. We have this in DCS right now. So, let's start with radio communication. You can jam a radio channel if you overpower the channel. At a certain point, if the Transmitting Radio gets closer to the Target Receiver and if there is enough signal power, the signal "burns through" the jammer and the channel is picked up by the receiver. I am inclined to think that DCS has this right now. What I have not seen in DCS is that you can encrypt a channel. AI or Players should be able to choose to encrypt a channel. So, Blue chooses to encrypt channel A. The mission can start with the A Key distributed to all Blue Forces or not. If Red tries to listen in on Channel A without the Blue Key, Red will hear garbage. I think that mission and campaign maker could have fun with distributing encrypt keys to all Blue Forces. I will not get into Radar right now. The concepts are similar for radar.

I got my best A to A kill flying the Corsair in the Air Warriors online multiplayer simulation. Caught a P-47D diving on a target. I was fast and low ~2,000 ft over water. The 47-pilot zoom climbed. I followed him up, and took his wing off with a burst at about 10,000 ft. The comments in voice chat were "Boy doesn't he have a long time to fall". In Air Warriors, nobody can eject from the plane. You cannot respawn until your plane crashes. Also, nobody flew higher than 5,000 ft in that sim.

Any chance for an AI G with STARMs and HARMs ?
Grimleo replied to upyr1's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
F-105G AI please. Maybe a F-100F Wild Weasel AI, and definitely a F-105D Al. -
Yep, Aerges is a good developer. They still communicate with us. Poor souls.

Using physics and public descriptions of electronic warfare (EW) techniques you should be able to make a good simulation of an EW environment. A simulation wouldn't need to know about how EW ciphers are created and used in real life. Only that Cipher A is encrypting Blue traffic on channel 122 MHz and so on. Combine Arms Commanders should get an interface to setup EW options. Add it to the large list of DCS improvements. Of course, I want inert practice nuke bombs. Anything nuke is a pole ED doesn't seem to want to touch.

This is all the United States Navy's fault. Stupid Navy didn't want cockpit walls. Now we have to wait while Mag3 animates all the stupid pushrods in the plane. Stupid Navy.

Don't forget WWII. We need a Fletcher-class destroyer at the very least for the Essex carrier we are "getting".

I think the F-86F versus MIG-17F match-up is interesting as you have the Sabre with two AIM-9Bs but no afterburner against the MIG-17 without missiles but with an afterburner. This matchup happens in history in the Taiwan Strait.

F-4E Phantom Development Report - DCS Newsletter 31/03/2023
Grimleo replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I want the Smoking Thunder Dog. From miles around, MIGs will start running away. For I am the badest bird in the sky. -
Oh, the heresy.

Interestedly "Lisse" is translated as 'Smooth' and "Bidons" is translated as 'Canisters' by Google Translate.

The T-34 modeled should be a late war variant (T-34/85 Model 1945}. It should go with a late war variant of the Yak-9 (Yak-9U). The map I would like to see would be centered around 1945 Berlin (lots of buildings damaged). This map would offer late WWII and early Cold War missions that would include the Soviets. You can also do Western Allies bomber missions using air starts. You could do a non-historic Battle Royale.

missing info Statistics regarding the damage inflicted by Guns
Grimleo replied to amazingme's topic in New Damage Model Bugs
@amazingme does the stats reflect player vs player only or does B-17 bomber hits count too? Can you add target type to the statistics? I think @Nirvi has a valid point in lower caliber rounds kill stealing. The .303 Browning (7.7mm) is more effective than the .50 Browning (12.7mm) but remember the .303 is paired with the 20mm Hispano. The 13mm MG 131 is paired with either the 20mm MG 151/20 or the 30mm MK 108. The MG 131 is shown by the stats to be as effective as the MG 151/20. The statistics do show that the .50 Browning is underperforming. I think the 8 rounds average for the MK 108 on SoW is likely due kill stealing by the MG 131. This Wikipedia article on the MK 108 cannon states the Germans thought it took an average of 4 rounds to kill a heavy bomber while it took 1 round to kill a fighter. -
I think the detailed damage model is the best hope for ships. I took out a B-17 out recently with an Anton burst because I killed the bomber pilots. You should be able to take out flak gun crews on ships with the .303s on the mossie. To speed things up, ED should make detailed damage models for WWII ships, but leave the visual representation of damage for latter. The gameness of the current damage model really shows up bad with ship targets. WWII ground vehicles should be next starting with armored vehicles. Again, leaving the visual representation of damage for latter. Even if that means watching artillery pieces burn like oil tanks.

Happy News. Last night I dreamed I was in Apache training. Didn't wash out. Can't be long now.
-
So, the Rocket trigger is on the right throttle handle. Sneaky those Brits.
-
I cannot get the rockets to fire in the training mission. I assume you use the bomb release button on the stick. I can see the button depress, but nothing fires.

How does the A-6 gunsight compare with the F-4 gunsight?
