Swap an EVGA Z270 with Z370...Will it boot?Cibit replied to hansangb's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software Windows 10 won't bloody activate for me after Hardware changes. Grrrrr been a bad experience for me this last build. I had it linked AFAIK. Better check Han

My thanks for that. I did look first honest

My impatience won out and I rebuilt my PC last night. I had already deactivated some modules and clean forgot about the others. I can no longer activate Normandy or NTTR. I will worry about aircraft at a later date. Any help will be appreciated

UserBenchmarks: Game 109%, Desk 89%, Work 67% CPU: Intel Core i5-8600K - 106.9% GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 - 128.7% SSD: Corsair Force LS 120GB - 33.7% SSD: SanDisk SSD Plus 240GB - 81.8% RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 C15 1x8GB - 53.1% MBD: Asus PRIME Z370-A will only boot with 1 stick of ram. Both sticks work but the DImms are not working. CPU Z only sees 3 channels ? A borked board? Idle at 4.7 on all cores at 23 degrees. Shame if I have to RMA the board:cry: Any suggestions RE Dimms please let me know

Watercooling serviced, cleaned the block and realised since I fitted my D5 vario my loop has been running backwards. The pump outlet was pushing water through the rad and not the block. Still got good temps though :)

New generation Ryzen rumours (2018 Q1 launch)Cibit replied to Pilotasso's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software Scan have them and if your prepared to wait Amazon have a few vendors. Mine will be coming down the chimney tonight ;)

Very nice looking but I think I would struggle to get a 360 Rad installed. I would be interested to know the dimensions mate, My Cosmos S is getting long in the tooth and I fried the start button a while ago:doh:

I will be delidding it when I hire your tool :music_whistling: I may well try without reinstalling. Get a better handle on how much faster it is . Doing benchmarks for ssd's yesterday every one showed slow write speeds. Like really low.

I have pretty much decided I will reformat my OS drive and have a fresh instal of windows 10 64 pro. Can I get you guys to post any tips tricks and hints in case I forget anything. Also what is the correct method for deactivating my modules so I don't loose anymore activations, I am getting low on certain modules :)

New Machine: How Many FPS Needed?Cibit replied to MonsterZero's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software Better to upgrade what you have over time. I guarantee buying a pre built system will incorporate some less premium parts to keep costs down and margins higher, normally mobo and psu. Why 147 fps ?
-
There was a general feeling of Nausea with it trying to stick to 60fps. Not a long term solution but may point to a fix :)

Hmmm, seems promising. With a quick test there was less noticable stuttering as I pan around. Something that has plagued me with 2.1. 2.2 has given slightly more overhead but ram is my limiting factor for Normandy. I will try to do a more thorough test later/tomorow but I am off to the airport to pick up a son en route from Paris I definately think you are on to something

I forget the wording but somewhere in settings you can set USB to never power down. It was a problem with the rift at one point. Ok device manager>USB controllers. Select which one and disable power management. All I can think of :)

Bah I wish Ed would introduce a like button :)

Thank goodness for back button, I hovered over the 8350K for a long time, especially as we got news of the house the same day. I may have to get a job:cry: Thank you, that rig you use ATM will sell for a good price on 2nd hand market I would imagine. I hope your warm this winter with an Uber heating system. Is it rigged up to your voice activation ? I have been meaning to pick your brains for a while about the cool stuff you can do with lights etc. :)

Price really. It was a stretch to get the 8600k and extra 100GBP was unnecessaryfor the 8700k along with availability I went for the i5 over the i3 purely from a future proof POV, those extra 2 cores will be useful somewhere along the line before a different build. The machine in the sig is my son's I "borrowed" for the rift, he is gaming on my i7920 which was my last PC build in 2009 :P

So when we sometimes think the troops on the ground are slightly smaller than expected in RL we can alter it?

So the order is placed and will be delivered by Santa on Christmas eve 1x 8600k, 2 sticks of 8gb DDR4 3000 CL15 and an asus Prime A Z370 in a pear tree :) Took so much pleading and grovelling to get the upgrade from the i3 8350K chip which is a great chip but the 6C6T i5 will be a little more future proofed. And the cherry on the cake I have uncovered my old XSPC delta mounting adapter so it will fit the i5 without mods or expensive new waterblocks ;) Merry Christmas hardware geeks:yay: Oh and I should mention the wifes reticence in spending. We had an offer for a house accepted today and will have to put up the deposit in January Zoiks

What's your permance with GTX 1070 or 1070Ti???Cibit replied to FAB Maverick's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software The IPC of the newer chips should be better, this article here kinda argues against that point https://www.hardocp.com/article/2017/01/13/kaby_lake_7700k_vs_sandy_bridge_2600k_ipc_review/5 I went from a i7920 x58 chipset and borrowed my sons i5 because I needed a newer chip for VR. I did not see a huge difference TBH but with dedicated USB 2 it was neccessary. (both running at 3.6 Ghz) I am going to be moving to a Z370 setup soon and I believe I will see a lot bigger performance boost because I will be able to overclock it again. This current i5 is locked! I too have less than 60% CPU usage in DCS but I found that my DDR3 RAM is my biggest bottleneck now

Advice with hardware and stuttersCibit replied to Boomer20's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software Try to reduce the pre load radius I found this helped a lot for my stutters as a quick fix before needing a 2nd mortgage for the crazy RAM prices :)

Someone asked the same question in another thread. This was the reply from Wags

Hi mate, I believe I read earlier that the pricing will be 20$ compared to the Harrier which is currently 70$. My take is that the hype has been the biggest problem with the community having expectations raised to fever pitch and the let down when a biplane is announced. I love flying GA aircraft in Xplane and will probably buy this when its heavily discounted in a sale. One thing to bear in mind if the Mig21 quality is brought to this module it will very pretty, although I know some people are still waiting for fixes for the Mig I personally never fly it anymore though to be fair I fly choppers almost exclusively.
