Agree with this. I use AH to remap the stupid App key on my otherwise decent keyboard to R-Win. It works in absolutely everything except DCS which still sees it as the App key.
-
In that case, just open the mission with the mission editor and change it from the A to the B.
-
If you have the F-14B, you also have the F-14A, they are both part of the same module. If it isn't showing up properly you might need to run a repair, or trash and reinstall your Tomcat.

Yes! Excellent news.

Well (bird, map, campaign acquired) flying around in instant action free flight, The Channel map seems no different than the others, performance wise. And it is gorgeous. Now, I've got three weeks to learn this aircraft, and ED has the same amount of time to fix their flak/DM stutter issues, then hopefully December will be a truly Horrido! month. Bring it on. :pilotfly:

Yes, take your time, make it great.

Simply awesome! :shocking:

Yes, I have been watching the damage decal stutter issue - hope they square that away next month. I'm not concerned about campaign missions at all, more just wondering about the map and module itself. I think I've already made the decision anyway, just wanted to make sure there aren't any showing stopping issues with the map or module at this point.

"3 running in" , "3 ejecting"
wowbagger replied to wowbagger's topic in F-86F Hunters over the Yalu Campaign
Yep, I could have been careless with the radio channel for sure. Thanks for the clarification. Looking forwards to the rest of the campaign. -
I'm right on the cusp of grabbing the Anton + Channel, specifically to play this ... and Wolfpack. I just wanted to check what the current state of performance is - I'm very picky and sensitive to low frame rates which destroy the illusion for me. I don't use VR and have no problem running any other module or map (using a 2080 and slightly older processor). But the Channel has many reports of desperately low frame rates, and the Anton also had some issues. But others say they run acceptably well. Neither gets a lot of chatter in the forums lately, so I am just checking people's latest experiences before jumping in whole hog. Thanks for any opinions.

"3 running in" , "3 ejecting"
wowbagger replied to wowbagger's topic in F-86F Hunters over the Yalu Campaign
I tried the mission again using the F10 "Attack Primary" command and it turned out much better. No one crashed into the target and all were able to RTB. The only issue was, while Blue flight dropped all their bombs on target, my own Red Flight just flew around without attacking. I tried using the regular radio comms to order them to 'Attack Primary Target and rejoin as well but to no effect. Also I was the only one to do a gun run, even after using the "Attack Primary" a second time. Just to check, should using the F10 orders apply to the entire formation or only Blue Flight, - requiring the regular comms to control Red Flight? But none of that really affected the great atmosphere or the enjoyment of the mission very much. Love flying to the target with two flights in close formation leaving lovely contrails in the frigid air. After parking I stuck around to watch the rest of the formation land in tandem pairs. Great stuff. Cheers -
Helpful.

wowbagger replied to wowbagger's topic in F-86F Hunters over the Yalu Campaign
Oh, that sounds likely. At one point I was surprised at how far away the flight was from the target, but I assumed they were setting up for their run in. I'll try using 'Attack Primary'from now on (I'm not really well versed in controlling the AI wingmen of DCS I'm afraid - I'm sure there are dozens of tips and tricks I need to learn). Although I did watch my own #3 crash into the red smoked target, so maybe there was a combination of things going on there. I will rerun msn #1 and try your suggestion to see what the outcome is. The ironic thing is that I decided to wait on launching into The Big Show and concentrate instead on Hunters because of the new DM stutter and flak bugs, totally forgetting that they share some of the same assets. Thanks for the speedy help! Hope ED gets the warbirds and assets sorted toute suite. The work of a DCS campaign maker is never finished. I feel for you guys - but greatly appreciated all your effort. -

First off, I love the atmosphere and approach of the campaign. I was originally skeptical about a 50s Korea campaign on the default map and the amount of suspension of disbelief that would be required, but it's rather easy to transform the area in to the west coast of the Korean peninsula in the mind's eye. Quick question: Cheers

I'd love to be able to change the F10 map display options after the mission has started, in real time, on the map itself, rather than only on the options page. Some kinds of missions require being able to see other units, for others map only is preferred. But being able to make that decision and change the setting in the options page before loading up the mission doesn't always happen. Something similar to the way we can turn labels on/off, but for the F10 map would be appreciated. cheers

It turned out to be something in my saved_games folder, but I'm not totally sure what - I think it was the Scratchpad mod; possibly I had it installed incorrectly. In any event, saved_games cleaned out and problem seems solved now. Thanks again for this mission and all your others. Content creators like you are what keep me interested in DCS, and keep me buying modules (did you hear that ED?).

This looks like excellent fun. Thanks. I have a strange question maybe someone has the answer to. When I try to load this mission everything is fine until I get to the part where you un-pause and choose the client slot. After that the game essentially freezes up for 5-10 minutes. Eventually it will load into the cockpit, but it takes forever. The same exact thing happens with your Gulf of Sidra Incident, and with Through the Inferno missions. I haven't found anything other missions which cause this (yet). I have tried editing the mission to switch the plane from 'client' to 'player' but the load time doesn't change. I have tried changing the 14 to an 18 - no difference. I can't find any mention of others suffering the same thing. All other missions load quickly and without problem. I'm running 32GB ram and 32GB pagfile, gtx2080. Tested with update-to-date Windows, all mods removed, all shaders deleted, DCS repair (all files). Any ideas anyone? cheers dcs.log

It shouldn't overwrite your settings, but instead it now looks for them in a different folder - which is why they are empty post patch. Copy your F-14B and F-14B_RIO controls folders and remove the B from the name of the new copies, so you have two new folders named F-14 and F-14_RIO, and you should be good to go. You can also just rename the originals, but make copies so you have backups. Controls should be found in Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input.

I find all the default views in DCS are sitting very low in the seat. I use save-snap-views to raise the default position of almost every plane. I also find having move-cockpit-camera-up/down bound to my HOTAS to be indispensable, again for just about every plane. I think punk is totally correct, it is a limitation of displaying these things on a monitor/computer. Cockpits all feel very wide to me too.

Very nice! I'm just about to start Yalu and am just polishing up my Sabre training - this will be very useful. So thank you very much.

Wow, that came out of nowhere. Nice surprise! Congratulations.

Excellent. I'll give it a shot. Thanks very much for the help.

I have a problem where the game annoyingly throws up messages right over top of and obscuring the communications/radio F1-F12 options. I can edit the gameMessages.lua to move the messages below the radio, but every time I restart Vaicom, it rewrites this file and destroys the changes. Does anyone have any brilliant suggestions as to how to fix this problem of messages covering the radio? cheers

Excellent! More content is always welcome, and needed in DCS. Cheers
