  1. Yes, agreed. I'm not complaining about using the open beta to find the bugs (and not looking for anyone's opinion on what I should do). But I'm under the impression that there is already a pretty good idea about loading the damage graphics causing the stutter. If they need more people to keep playing and submitting posts about it, that's fine. And if there is something new they want to try with the next patch, that's great too. I've always been happy to help by posting whatever bugs I find in DCS. But if the DM now needs to be tweaked and baked for some more months before the developers are ready to patch it again, it makes more sense to me to make the game playable. I've stopped playing warbirds because of the stutter. Players switching to jets or other WWII options doesn't add to the knowledge base either. Hopefully a solution to the stutter won't be too hard in solving or too long in coming.
  2. Because that doesn't solve anything or help anyone. Is there an advantage to leaving the warbirds in its stuttery state? Why is any comment on the open.beta (which frankly is not really a beta) always met with "switch to stable, beta is clearly not for you"? Hopefully the Tomcat will have fixes and a campaign on the 16th - should I miss out on those too? I'm not criticizing the developers nor complaining, just suggesting an interim solution to make warbirds flyable again until the new DM is working well. Did this bug show up in multiplayer testing? Are YOU enjoying the current state? Sorry if that comes across as petulant, but I find your reply neither constructive nor particularly genial.
  3. If we don't have a fix for the new DM stutter ready to go for the Dec 16th patch, can we roll back to the previous DM please? I'm all for giving the developers the time needed to implement the new damage model and I appreciate any improvements to the game, but I would prefer that we recognize that it isn't working at the moment and have a game that is playable in the interim. I generally like the new monthly patch cycle, and the more deliberate and comprehensive approach to bug squashing and improvements it allows, however when a game breaking bug is introduced, I think we should be more amenable to a quick patch which rolls back to a working condition rather than wait for weeks for another patch which may or may not solve the problem. After all, we players have purchased the game more to play it than to develop it. Cheers
  4. Just a quick question about the state of the A-10C II module. Is it in a completed enough / bug -free condition to enjoy TEW3 or should I wait some months more in order to play through frustration free? Thanks for any input. Cheers
  5. Well spent.
  6. Ah, good stuff. It has been a while since I played that, and I don't think I ever knew that option was there. Cheers
  7. The Caucasus map acts as a stand in for the Korean peninsula. I would advise not getting too hung up on the wrong map - if you discount the warbirds, and Syria (for which there are almost no missions and zero campaigns available) the percentage of aircraft in DCS which don't have a temporally/geographically appropriate map is alarmingly high. When you factor in the number of actual quality campaigns available (hint- not a lot) ... well, using your imagination to turn this: ... into ... ... is a pretty small sacrifice to make. Museum Relic is set in fictional countries using the same map as Hunters over Yalu. Two countries are going to war in modern-ish day and your restored 50's jet is called into service to aid the war effort. So yes, it is a military campaign, but employs even more imagination to accept the setting. Edit: Try out Hunters over the Yalu for free. And check out youtube for run throughs of both campaigns. In my opinion, for the money (especially on sale right now) both campaigns are definitely worth picking up. Hunters is better if you want 50s Sabre - Mig action, and is a really fantastic romp through the Korean War. A proper Korean War campaign for DCS was a looooooong time incoming and Reflected did it right. Hoping he'll continue with a MiG-15 campaign after the Jug and Tomcat ones are done and dusted.
  8. Brilliant, thank you!
  9. Android mobile - same annoying experience. I'm sure anyone who uses tapatalk will know they can do it with dcs forums. Please remove the code which triggers the reminder!
  10. There are two: The Museum Relic and F-86F Hunters over the Yalu If you are referring to Hunters over the Yalu, check out the info thread - I just started the campaign last week, so far it's great. It has a ton of atmosphere and so far seems straightforward without being boring/repetitive. It is well crafted with lots of little extras beyond fly there, shoot that which make it totally come alive. The creator is very active - constantly updating and improving his campaigns - and extremely responsive to questions and problems. I fully recommend grabbing it and enjoying some Korean War action. The Museum Relic is also quite good. It takes an imaginative approach to flying the Sabre/Mig-15 in a modern setting. It has a wide variety of missions. It has been a long while since I played that campaign (using the Mig) but if I recall accurately, you needed to fulfill the mission objectives to progress in the campaign. I could be wrong about that.
  11. Agree with this. I use AH to remap the stupid App key on my otherwise decent keyboard to R-Win. It works in absolutely everything except DCS which still sees it as the App key.
  12. In that case, just open the mission with the mission editor and change it from the A to the B.
  13. If you have the F-14B, you also have the F-14A, they are both part of the same module. If it isn't showing up properly you might need to run a repair, or trash and reinstall your Tomcat.
  14. Yes! Excellent news.
  15. Well (bird, map, campaign acquired) flying around in instant action free flight, The Channel map seems no different than the others, performance wise. And it is gorgeous. Now, I've got three weeks to learn this aircraft, and ED has the same amount of time to fix their flak/DM stutter issues, then hopefully December will be a truly Horrido! month. Bring it on. :pilotfly:
  16. Yes, take your time, make it great.
  17. Simply awesome! :shocking:
  18. Yes, I have been watching the damage decal stutter issue - hope they square that away next month. I'm not concerned about campaign missions at all, more just wondering about the map and module itself. I think I've already made the decision anyway, just wanted to make sure there aren't any showing stopping issues with the map or module at this point.
  19. Yep, I could have been careless with the radio channel for sure. Thanks for the clarification. Looking forwards to the rest of the campaign.
  20. I'm right on the cusp of grabbing the Anton + Channel, specifically to play this ... and Wolfpack. I just wanted to check what the current state of performance is - I'm very picky and sensitive to low frame rates which destroy the illusion for me. I don't use VR and have no problem running any other module or map (using a 2080 and slightly older processor). But the Channel has many reports of desperately low frame rates, and the Anton also had some issues. But others say they run acceptably well. Neither gets a lot of chatter in the forums lately, so I am just checking people's latest experiences before jumping in whole hog. Thanks for any opinions.
  21. I tried the mission again using the F10 "Attack Primary" command and it turned out much better. No one crashed into the target and all were able to RTB. The only issue was, while Blue flight dropped all their bombs on target, my own Red Flight just flew around without attacking. I tried using the regular radio comms to order them to 'Attack Primary Target and rejoin as well but to no effect. Also I was the only one to do a gun run, even after using the "Attack Primary" a second time. Just to check, should using the F10 orders apply to the entire formation or only Blue Flight, - requiring the regular comms to control Red Flight? But none of that really affected the great atmosphere or the enjoyment of the mission very much. Love flying to the target with two flights in close formation leaving lovely contrails in the frigid air. After parking I stuck around to watch the rest of the formation land in tandem pairs. Great stuff. Cheers
  22. Helpful.
  23. Oh, that sounds likely. At one point I was surprised at how far away the flight was from the target, but I assumed they were setting up for their run in. I'll try using 'Attack Primary'from now on (I'm not really well versed in controlling the AI wingmen of DCS I'm afraid - I'm sure there are dozens of tips and tricks I need to learn). Although I did watch my own #3 crash into the red smoked target, so maybe there was a combination of things going on there. I will rerun msn #1 and try your suggestion to see what the outcome is. The ironic thing is that I decided to wait on launching into The Big Show and concentrate instead on Hunters because of the new DM stutter and flak bugs, totally forgetting that they share some of the same assets. Thanks for the speedy help! Hope ED gets the warbirds and assets sorted toute suite. The work of a DCS campaign maker is never finished. I feel for you guys - but greatly appreciated all your effort.
  24. First off, I love the atmosphere and approach of the campaign. I was originally skeptical about a 50s Korea campaign on the default map and the amount of suspension of disbelief that would be required, but it's rather easy to transform the area in to the west coast of the Korean peninsula in the mind's eye. Quick question: Cheers
