    Best Module.

Quoted for truth. Plus, the bug has one my least favourite cockpits, whereas the viper pit is a glorious place to spend virtual airtime in.
  2. Apologies, I haven't booted up my gaming pc today to check for sure, but I think I just modified the HB_F14_RadioNoise.wav file by reducing the gain substantially until it was reasonable to my ears (around 10-20% of original gain). I used Ocean Audio I think, but you could use Audacity as well, both free to use. I use OVGME to reinstall it after each update. If you need more guidance I can verify the exact file and folder location tomorrow. Sorry I can't be more helpful right now.
  3. That's strange. The ICS volume knob works for me to adjust the volume of Jester's voice. It does not affect the annoying radio static noise which accompanies it, as Kristoffer79 pointed out. I just edited the offending sample by reducing the gain to something like 10% of the original and now it sounds normal enough.
  4. This was raised in the general bugs forum. Bignewy answered with: This seems strange to me, since a) it makes zero sense from a game mechanics point of view, and b) I feel quite sure it used to show me my waypoints, and c) I think it still works for some people. I am confused by this.
  5. Sorry, could you please expound on that a bit? It doesn't show our own waypoints by design? cheers
  6. No, I have the same experience as you Flappie. Well, I can see AI waypoints displayed, just not my own flight's. It very much needs to be solved. I've tried all different settings for the F10 map without success.
  7. Haha, very nice. I just picked up Yalu and Big Show this week, so I'll be on the look out for these fast moovers. cheers
  8. Thanks Mustang! This was causing me hugely long load times and constant stutter on all maps after yesterday's patch for some reason. Your update seems to have solved the issue. Cheers
  9. The Last Post(s) listed on the right side of the forum are not accurately updating.
  10. This is something really annoying in the mission editor. If you ever change a plane from one type to another, the mission editor reassigns its parking spot for some reason.
  11. \Still stuttering. I deleted shaders, I removed all mods, repaired install - still getting stutters and Normandy crashes when trying to load (most times, not always). edit: Gave up last night. Shut down the computer. Restarted this morning, deleted shaders again. Stutter seems fixed and hasn't crashed yet. Will now start re-enabling things like Vaicom and Tacview. Hopefully it will remain happy.
  12. Huge stutter every 5-6 seconds on Syria, Normandy, Nevada, and PG. Caucasus seems normal.
  13. In the mission editor I'm unable to set radio presets to anything between 140.00 and 220.00. It immediately jumps between these two frequencies and won't accept a number in between. This is despite the fact that the default frequencies include 141.00, 149.00, and 150.00. Can anyone shed some light on what I'm missing here? cheers
  14. Is it possible anymore? The filter option always comes up empty and the drop down search in the top right only allows to search in the entire forum or the current sub-forum, not the thread. The forum is the foremost, and only, place to get technical help with the very complex thing that is DCS. I used to rely heavily on being able to search through pages long threads before the new forum took over. Is this still possible? Also, when doing an advanced search, the current forum is no longer automatically selected, and scrolling through the list of every single sub-forum listed in the tiny window which lists the sub-forums, trying to find the one you are currently in is laborious. Thanks for any guidance.
  15. Ya, reddit is too often a toxic echo chamber filled with gangs of fan boys on one side and haters on the other who can vote out of existence any dissenting opinions or view points. It's quite often neither constructive nor worth the time. Discussion should not be governed by popular opinion.
  16. Thanks very much, yes that does help. The only thing I am still unclear about is the Reload button. Why does that light up? It reloads the last saved version of the profile, doesn't it? Should I always reload it when it is lit, or should I ignore it? Should I Finish before I Reload or will that lose the changes being finished? Edit: yes, sorry, by preference window I meant configuration window.
  17. I get this quite a bit. Just to clarify, what is the right procedure? Hit Reload and then Finish, and then paste in the profile? Hit Finish and paste in the profile, and then come back and hit reload? Ignore Reload altogether and just Finish + paste? Something else? Thanks for any guidance. Also, when I hit Finish and close the preference window before I go to paste, the clipboard seems empty, but it seems to work if I leave the preference window open.
  18. Yes, this is a reservation I have too. I am totally bored with the Caucasus. I know it's very tempting for mission designers to appeal to the biggest audience because everyone has this map, but it has been around since Flanker days.We have these lovely new maps which I fear will continue to go mostly unused. I bought Raven One, even though I really don't like the Hornet, partially to support BD and specifically to reward someone for making a non-Caucasus campaign. The newer maps also seem somewhat more believable for much of the DCS planeset.
  19. Personally, I don't find anything hardcore about pushing the same sequence of buttons over and over again. I'd rather get to the part where I actually have to think more quickly. But there was already a long, unhelpful, and eventually pointless thread on this topic not long enough ago - which was of course closed down. You can check it out for this discussion.
  20. One thing about DCS is that people most often recommend modules just based on the aircraft itself. While the F5 and Mig-21 are very fun to fly, there is so little single player content for them I find them hard to recommend. At the other end of things, there is a quite a bit of content for the F-18 and there will likely be more and more, but it is my least enjoyable plane to fly - it feels sterile and numb and you just let the plane fly while staring a video screens the whole time. I originally got the Hornet on sale only because I knew it would likely have the most content created for it eventually (apart from maybe the A-10) but I already kind of regret it, it's just not my thing. There is good content in terms of campaigns for the A-10, Mirage, Huey, Mi-8, F-18. The F-5 has a couple of campaigns, but I think they are more like robust practice missions rather than a story driven narrative. The Harrier has essentially nothing - because many systems were incomplete or not working as intended for so long, campaign makers have stayed clear of it, however with RAZBAM's renewed vigor for getting it into a state which justifies the 'release' status label, hopefully that will change soon. The F-14 has almost nothing, but again hopefully Heatblur will make good on their promise someday and release at least the campaign for the B (and then the A, once that is finished) - their modules are fantastic, but they are very sluggish to provide the campaigns that come with them. The Viggen has a couple of good campaigns and is very fun to fly, but is very narrow in mission scope, and one of the most difficult to reconcile being in the theatres of operation that DCS offers. Syria is by far the best map. But there is no content for it yet, and it takes a looooooong time to get any made for new maps. One of the big problems with DCS is that because the Caucasus map is free, campaign makers focus on it since they know everyone has it and it offers the biggest potential audience. Nevada is next, but all the campaigns there will obviously be about training. The first Persian Gulf campaign (for the F-18 ) just came out in August. Last year's update to Normandy turned it into a top notch map, but I don't fly DCS WWII stuff, so I have no idea about it. It is an awesome map for helicopters but you would have to make any missions yourself, since there is nothing at all for it. For me, the most fun planes to fly are the F-14, Mig-21 and Huey. Mirage is very easy to learn and has two of the best campaigns (one in Georgia and one in Nevada). I haven't touched it in a year since RAZBAM was redoing a bunch of systems and broke some training and missions. I think Baltic Dragon has likely fixed everything so it is working again, but I'm not sure if the manual is updated and how many more things RAZBAM is still going to change (RAZBAM modules been a bit of a crap shoot in my experience in terms of what bits have been working when, but they have the best DCS campaign creator on contract so it can be worth the trouble). There is no easy answer. Get whatever plane grabs your interest but be prepared to make your own missions. Check out Liberation in the missions sub-forum. It's a little unusual but a wonderful way to put DCS modules to use.
  21. Yes, long, long time fan. But I'm just now in the middle of And Another Thing for the first time. Bowerick gets a surprisingly large part in this one.
  22. Awesome! That seems to have solved the issue. Log now looks like : And no extra folder was created. Thank you so very much. That was driving me spare. I hugely appreciate your help with this. Cheers
  23. Okay, internet access returned. Here's the startup log:
  24. Hey, thanks for the fast response! I was in the middle of attaching my Vaicom startup log when my internet connection went down (on mobile now). In any case, the log mentions the install directory, and both the DCS directory and the DCS.openbeta directory. Is there a registry entry I can change/remove to focus Vaicom on only the openbeta one?
