It turned out to be something in my saved_games folder, but I'm not totally sure what - I think it was the Scratchpad mod; possibly I had it installed incorrectly. In any event, saved_games cleaned out and problem seems solved now. Thanks again for this mission and all your others. Content creators like you are what keep me interested in DCS, and keep me buying modules (did you hear that ED?).

This looks like excellent fun. Thanks. I have a strange question maybe someone has the answer to. When I try to load this mission everything is fine until I get to the part where you un-pause and choose the client slot. After that the game essentially freezes up for 5-10 minutes. Eventually it will load into the cockpit, but it takes forever. The same exact thing happens with your Gulf of Sidra Incident, and with Through the Inferno missions. I haven't found anything other missions which cause this (yet). I have tried editing the mission to switch the plane from 'client' to 'player' but the load time doesn't change. I have tried changing the 14 to an 18 - no difference. I can't find any mention of others suffering the same thing. All other missions load quickly and without problem. I'm running 32GB ram and 32GB pagfile, gtx2080. Tested with update-to-date Windows, all mods removed, all shaders deleted, DCS repair (all files). Any ideas anyone? cheers dcs.log

It shouldn't overwrite your settings, but instead it now looks for them in a different folder - which is why they are empty post patch. Copy your F-14B and F-14B_RIO controls folders and remove the B from the name of the new copies, so you have two new folders named F-14 and F-14_RIO, and you should be good to go. You can also just rename the originals, but make copies so you have backups. Controls should be found in Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input.

I find all the default views in DCS are sitting very low in the seat. I use save-snap-views to raise the default position of almost every plane. I also find having move-cockpit-camera-up/down bound to my HOTAS to be indispensable, again for just about every plane. I think punk is totally correct, it is a limitation of displaying these things on a monitor/computer. Cockpits all feel very wide to me too.

Very nice! I'm just about to start Yalu and am just polishing up my Sabre training - this will be very useful. So thank you very much.

Wow, that came out of nowhere. Nice surprise! Congratulations.

Excellent. I'll give it a shot. Thanks very much for the help.

I have a problem where the game annoyingly throws up messages right over top of and obscuring the communications/radio F1-F12 options. I can edit the gameMessages.lua to move the messages below the radio, but every time I restart Vaicom, it rewrites this file and destroys the changes. Does anyone have any brilliant suggestions as to how to fix this problem of messages covering the radio? cheers

Excellent! More content is always welcome, and needed in DCS. Cheers

Quoted for truth. Plus, the bug has one my least favourite cockpits, whereas the viper pit is a glorious place to spend virtual airtime in.

Apologies, I haven't booted up my gaming pc today to check for sure, but I think I just modified the HB_F14_RadioNoise.wav file by reducing the gain substantially until it was reasonable to my ears (around 10-20% of original gain). I used Ocean Audio I think, but you could use Audacity as well, both free to use. I use OVGME to reinstall it after each update. If you need more guidance I can verify the exact file and folder location tomorrow. Sorry I can't be more helpful right now.

That's strange. The ICS volume knob works for me to adjust the volume of Jester's voice. It does not affect the annoying radio static noise which accompanies it, as Kristoffer79 pointed out. I just edited the offending sample by reducing the gain to something like 10% of the original and now it sounds normal enough.

No Routes shown in Mission F10 while Flying Mission
wowbagger replied to Rocky49's topic in Mission Editor
This was raised in the general bugs forum. Bignewy answered with: This seems strange to me, since a) it makes zero sense from a game mechanics point of view, and b) I feel quite sure it used to show me my waypoints, and c) I think it still works for some people. I am confused by this. -
Sorry, could you please expound on that a bit? It doesn't show our own waypoints by design? cheers
-
No, I have the same experience as you Flappie. Well, I can see AI waypoints displayed, just not my own flight's. It very much needs to be solved. I've tried all different settings for the F10 map without success.

Haha, very nice. I just picked up Yalu and Big Show this week, so I'll be on the look out for these fast moovers. cheers

DCS Persian Gulf - terrain noise tiles fix.
wowbagger replied to Mustang's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
Thanks Mustang! This was causing me hugely long load times and constant stutter on all maps after yesterday's patch for some reason. Your update seems to have solved the issue. Cheers -
The Last Post(s) listed on the right side of the forum are not accurately updating.

\Still stuttering. I deleted shaders, I removed all mods, repaired install - still getting stutters and Normandy crashes when trying to load (most times, not always). edit: Gave up last night. Shut down the computer. Restarted this morning, deleted shaders again. Stutter seems fixed and hasn't crashed yet. Will now start re-enabling things like Vaicom and Tacview. Hopefully it will remain happy.

Huge stutter every 5-6 seconds on Syria, Normandy, Nevada, and PG. Caucasus seems normal.

In the mission editor I'm unable to set radio presets to anything between 140.00 and 220.00. It immediately jumps between these two frequencies and won't accept a number in between. This is despite the fact that the default frequencies include 141.00, 149.00, and 150.00. Can anyone shed some light on what I'm missing here? cheers

Is it possible anymore? The filter option always comes up empty and the drop down search in the top right only allows to search in the entire forum or the current sub-forum, not the thread. The forum is the foremost, and only, place to get technical help with the very complex thing that is DCS. I used to rely heavily on being able to search through pages long threads before the new forum took over. Is this still possible? Also, when doing an advanced search, the current forum is no longer automatically selected, and scrolling through the list of every single sub-forum listed in the tiny window which lists the sub-forums, trying to find the one you are currently in is laborious. Thanks for any guidance.

Thanks very much, yes that does help. The only thing I am still unclear about is the Reload button. Why does that light up? It reloads the last saved version of the profile, doesn't it? Should I always reload it when it is lit, or should I ignore it? Should I Finish before I Reload or will that lose the changes being finished? Edit: yes, sorry, by preference window I meant configuration window.
