GUIDE / INFO : DCS Updater Usage, Version Numbers, Module IDs
Tom Kazansky replied to SkateZilla's topic in General Tutorials
I use a desktop shortcut with the target: "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" update And the "start in:" looks like: "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin" This shortcut just checks for updates but does not start DCS -
Würde sich in rot mit "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" möglicherweise besser verkaufen

Mic switch needs to be set to "on" to communicate with ground crew - default it is off. (Source: Changelog current open beta)

This could be helpful

To be fair, is there any information from ED where they forgot to state that you need the DCS 2.8.6... version? The reason why there is no disclaimer in the module manager of the stable version is the same reason why you can't find the F-15E in it. For the future it might help to be aware of the fact that every module comes to open beta first.

Flaming Cliffs 3 owner?

Could it be that the issue isn't Jester's mood or attitude per se but the inevitable repetitions (that are the nature of a non-ChatGPT-based-"AI")?

Roadmap unofficial thread youtube creators spam.
Tom Kazansky replied to Furiz's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Imho the pain comes from the fact, that a lot of people would like to have a (rough) release date of Razbam's F-15E. Watching what others do with the Strike Eagle would only be "bearable" if we knew when we get our hands on it as well. (I exclude notso's videos, because showing how things work for me is usefull before release. Showing how much fun it is for many, many others before I get it? Not so much. But I'm still not offended by all this. I'm patient. Just my 2 cents that might help understanding an maybe help motivating @Silver_Dragon just a little bit to continue the superb job on that thread of all those years!) -
thanks and yes, I accepted it as normal too. I just thought I add it here for the case (with low possibility) someone doesn't know. I wasn't aware of that "no-key-pressing default view change", tho. So also thanks for that.

Idk whether it is related but ever since I've played DCS I have to press the reset zoom button once every time I get into a cockpit when I start a mission. This provides my previously set FOV/zoom level. Plz be aware that this is not done by the "center view" but by the "reset zoom" key. (don't exactly know what they're called in English) DCS always starts zoomed out a bit until I hit the zoom reset key to get to my dedired/preset FOV.

If I buy separately all the FC3 modules is it same thing that buying FC3?
Tom Kazansky replied to Wiggo's topic in DCS 2.9
And be aware that "the DCS: Supercarrier module also includes [...] the Su-33 Flanker" Just in case you haven't bought the Su-33 already and you are interested in the Supercarrier. -

Tom Kazansky replied to Wiggo's topic in DCS 2.9
ED advertises those modules in the shop as follows: Note: the aircraft model is identical to the Flaming Cliffs 3 module. Owners of FC3 do not need to purchase. I don't see a reason not to trust them. -
DCS: Me 262 Discussion (Development on hold currently)
Tom Kazansky replied to NineLine's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
This is the exact reason why it should be done for DCS World. I for one love DCS modules because each of them not only shows its values and advantages in historical development over other aircraft but teaches us its shortcomings, too, and help understand and experience the need for further development that led to advanced aircraft. I'm not too concerned about multiplayer balancing. This is done by mission creators. Real aircraft developers never cared for balance but for superiority. DCS is much more than PvP for me. -
I would like to have an option that puts the cursor to the center every time I switch it on (LAlt+C, or in my case I push the mouse wheel to the right). It often happens that I can't remember whether I turned off the cursor by LAlt+C or it went to standby/invisible by time. In the latter case I sometimes try to switch it on and try to find it but what I did was turning it off. If the cursor was put right in the center of my VR view on turning it on, it would be a huge relief. (edit: ... as an option. I don't want to annoy others that don't need/want that.)

@cfrag thanks a lot for the miz and the updates! I believe there is a huge need for such an effort for each and every map in DCS. I also find it usefull to have a thread where people can add their findings and their spots of interest. Just think about doing this for the other maps, plz. So that we will usually hear people saying: "Have you tried cfrag's tourist map of the (new) map yet?"

+1 With the mission editor you can add an important way of training with low frustration potential by using the invulnerability option. After the flight or even during the flight you can evaluate hits by enemy weapons with the event/score page of DCS. For immersion I use Nevada map. Flying out of Nellis to a target range feels very much like training the "real thing" imho.
-
I don't use open beta and can confirm that Marianas map is also available to stable version of DCS for a long time.

Both have similar max weight. Ka-50 has ~10% more power and retractable gear which could be an advantage at high speeds. edit: I also wonder if the Kamov's coaxial rotors are better for top speeds. There is no loss of energy like the Apache needs with its anti torque tail rotor.
-
No worries, DCS means patience.
-
please feel free to post your results here. I'm very interested in this subject, for I wonder what I could gain with a faster CPU even with maxed GPU load. Especially in MT-DCS.
-
100% agreed. But I didn't mean to stay on those lower settings. I suggested it to understand how CPU/GPU load works, then return and enjoy. I can only repeat: as long as GPU load is 99% maxed out, there is no way a higher CPU load gets more FPS. I for one am quite happy, that my GPU is the bottleneck too under those conditions because as soon as there are more AI units or other players, your CPU will get enough work to do.
-
Have you monitored GPU temperature? Do you have a tool like MSI Afterburner for testing your issue with (e.g.) a 70% power limit to reduce GPU temperatures?
-
Imho you see the expected behaviour for a maxed out GPU (99% in your case). Since the rendering work of CPU and GPU happens parallelly (shifted by a couple of frames) the CPU is not able to push more frames if GPU is at full load. For testing you could reduce GPU load by reducing e.g. the resolution significantly. Then you should see a higher CPU load.

How to stabilize TEDAC\TADS image in the moving helicopter?
Tom Kazansky replied to solus's topic in DCS: AH-64D
I also use LMC for ground stabilisation. Works quite well while the Apache moves slowly.
